The Damsel once posted that not all floods are of water... anyone found anything relevant connecting to that?

Maybe the otherworld is the real Land of Ashen Waste, cleansed by a flood of fire by it's angry Slendygod.

I honestly have no idea how serious I am with that. If it was the otherworld they were driving through between Brooklyn and NJ, it seemed awfully desolate. And then there's the whole "god created duality so he wouldn't be lonely" thing Jeff pulled from House of Leaves, and the idea from the Bible that the second cleansing would be by fire instead of water. I'm too close to the idea to see how tree-like it might actually be.

Personally, it is my opinion the otherworld is the Land of Ashen Waste. I've believed that for some time.

Bringing that up to them, though, seems quite pointless. They are seemingly unaware of the otherworld, unlike us. The most recent trip to Brooklyn is probably the first they have encountered of it.

Land of the Ashen Waste was probably, to me, only significant in that specific instance, leading them to Brooklyn to be ambushed.

Why they would be ambushed is unclear.

It's clear that it's the same basement. The box that Jeff walks toward at the end of Ashen Waste is the same box Vince was up against when Jeff walked toward it in the Welcome to the Ark video that was deleted.

I attribute the Brooklyn incident more the Slendy's ability to distort time and space than being in the "otherworld."

Whoever is behind all of the messages being sent may simply just really want the EH trio to be out of the picture. It'd sync up with all of the burnt out pictures.

I don't know. I'm not certain yet that post card was sent by a malevolent force.

Certainly not all the pawns are on the board yet.

Has anyone considered that maybe, just maybe, that Jessa might have gone all totheark on us, which is why she disappeared?

I was thinking about that just now, and it occurred to me that it's mighty strange that the box-sender has access to papers from the Fairfield Children's Home. Mighty strange unless the box-sender is a former doctor who worked at Fairfield, that is.

Yup. I'm putting my money on the elusive Dr. Corenthal being the person behind the mystery boxes. The biggest drawback there is that he has to get out 4 more boxes before endgame, but it seems unlikely that they'd keep Corenthal in the shadows for that long.

He may also be behind the purple-tape shrine, and it would make sense if he were the guy that planted the medical papers that Jeff found in his old school.

Why would Dr. Corenthal be mutilating pictures of the EMH boys, leaving cryptic messages, and cornering the market on purple tape? To quote the illustrious Master Shake, "Why does anybody do anything?"

It could be another doctor, or another patient, who had gotten access to Dr. Corenthal, who is sending out this information, instead?

True. I hadn't considered the fact that EMH doesn't think twice about introducing new characters at the drop of a hat. Smile

It could be one of the guys themselves, which would make the most sense knowing what we know now, in my opinion. Their pictures, business cards, and (maybe) the "medical papers" Jeff found in the school. It would make the most sense if it was one of them gathering this stuff and leaving the boxes.

So what were people's takes on patient Evan vs. EH Evan? Different people? Time-warped forward? Obviously it's someone who has access to their stuff, but my bet would go to him for planting stuff and either not remembering it or not fessing up to it.

Well, there's obviously a connection. Trusted-Evan is too young to be patient-Evan, but Jeff's diagram suggests that Patient-Evan and HABIT are two separate entities and HABIT is the thing that connects the Evans. Or maybe trusted-Evan is becoming HABIT? Maybe he's slowly going down the hole of psychosis which HABIT sits at the bottom of.

And of course, that hole is a rabbit hole.

That does make sense. Except...why? Would that mean one of the boys has been in collusion with Slendy all along? That would be an interesting twist. Smile

There were time-warp theorists, I think some speculation that one of the Evan's is the alternate reality version of the other, and I'm holding onto the idea that Habit Evan is Hybrid Evan's father or uncle. (The biggest drawback to that is the fact that parents don't seem to exist in the Slenderverse. Presumably people are born college-age in pods there.) It's also possible that Habit is a demon that can only possess people named Evan. It can't just be a coincidence, as that would be the reddest herring on record.

Part of the problem with a forum based discussion is the chaos that naturally erupts within it. I'm beginning to think that if we feel we are approaching the point where we can definitively say Evan is A, B, or C the appropriate channel for the discussion is to set up a mIRC chat room for an hour or two, throw the theories out there, gather the evidence together, discuss it in real time and present said findings to the community in a coherent fashion.
