Well on the subject of them plotting ahead of us, lets talk about foreshadowing! Very Happy (yay!) I've noticed Jeff saying, in jest of course what with all the horse play the guys do, that "he's dead." The moment I'm talking about is when Vince and Evan are showing how to parry and block blows from an attacker. When one of the "how not to parry" examples happens Jeff goes "He's dead!" when Vince makes "contact" with Evan. I think I'm reading too much into it personally. But I think it's worth mentioning. Anyone else catch that?

And now that I think about it, inspiration and tone being pulled from House of Leaves, there was a lot of mentioning of Noah's Ark at certain points in that book as a metaphor. Which, there's a LOT of that going on on CANYOUSEETHEWORDS. Perhaps the bold Ark's and the fact that every instance of Ark being bold is lifted right out of House of Leaves? The bold lettering does seem to remind me of the blue lettering from the book.

Who wants to bet that instructional yoga dvd's got some flexible, slender goodness on it?

Dr Steel FTW! I'm also trying to use what I've learned to promote EMH. I'm considering just going to a bookstore and putting flyers in every House of Leaves book they have.

Possible slendy sighting at 1:41ish. As the camera goes from his feet and back up, it turns a little to the left (I'm guessing that's a closet?). I'll try to download the video and try to get a picture of it. All it really looks like is a tad of white(maybe his infamous suit?)

This is some terrible acting, especially the last part.

Talking faster doesn't make you sound smarter Evan.

I'm pretty sure it was already said earlier in the thread... don't criticize the free entertainment.

I don't think that it's acting, at least, not really scripted. I think it's guys who enjoy being in front of a camera and chattering to the internet. They've got a story and they're planning ahead, but I don't think that they're following a script in the way that we're used to seeing from movies and plays.

So... if you're comparing them to that, it's a pretty futile exercise. Of course it's terrible acting when it's not quite the same!

I'm not sure whether "it's free" is an excuse to avoid criticizing bad acting if it's actually bad acting. I'm not sure if not being an actor yourself is one, either.

But this was obviously just guided impromptu and saying anything about "acting" doesn't really apply here. They're being themselves, for the most part.

I'm not sure if I remember any references to an ark, direct or otherwise. Point it out by page number or chapter, I wanna see if I missed something.

The bold lettering and crossing out "flood" is, honestly, grating on my nerves. I'm not sure if it's an homage as much as a "hey, look, I'm cool/scary, too!" sort of thing.

I'm sorry but just because it's "free" doesn't mean it should be devoid of any negative thoughts by its followers.

Irregardless if they are acting or not, it's pretty damn clear neither "weight lifting exercise guru" Vince or "Nutrition loving martial arts teacher" Evan have any idea what they are talking about in each episode. The last one was especially painful to watch.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the storyline, but I question doing a storyline on topics they clearly have no idea what they are talking about.

Outside of the SM storyline, you've got to remember that these are all guys in their late teens and early twenties doing a series of health videos mainly for the hell of it. They're not gonna be experts -- they just want to put something out there.

Look at it as a (n apparently) well-crafted story about a trans-dimensional horror accidentally intersecting with a low-budget video blog.

i honestly thought the martial arts video was enlightening a very good. Evan seemed on top of it and had some great advice. To me, it was possibly the best (health and fitness) information from the guys.

but thats just me

A couple of friends with sub-par acting ability, ranting on youtube videos about topics they don't totally understand... and you're telling me that's not totally true to life?
Then let me be the first one to welcome you to the internet! Would you like some assistance in using "the Google"?

You have a point about it not being free from criticism. But if you're going to criticize anything, the way they deliver info should not be the thing you critique. But hey. Roll how you want to. And I think their tips are alright considering it's "A healthy living on a budget" show done with a very warm friendly atmosphere... with Slenderman hanging about.

And guys... lets not get into a needless flame war. Lets not forget why we're cohering as a group here! There are Slendermans out and about that needs spottin's! And Slenerman's ain't gonna get got with petty arguments filling up the thread.

Moving right along.

See my post on 44.

Yeah, I saw your thoughts on that. Kind of what led me to even mention the foreshadowing that I noticed. See, but I've noticed the thought of anyone dying being directed at Evan. (which makes me sad to think about because he's such a cool guy) That's where our theories split. But who knows, both Vinnie and Evan were in frame. Have there been any allusions to Vin being a victim anywhere yet?

http://canyouseethewords.com/post/687739878/at-least-12-dead-dozens-missing-in-floods Yeah, and the instances where the word water (or words that mean water like "flood," "ocean," or "lake") remind me of the minotaur bits from House of Leaves as well. I think it's just a nod to the book. Then maybe some inspiration in how disjointed the story is, but that's a hallmark of any Slenderman story.

And as far as the Noah's Ark thing in House of Leaves, it's only mentioned a few times. Do you have a copy with the index in the back? Apparently Ark's are talked about on pages 77, 144, 261 and 333 according to that. And I'm in the midst of reading it myself, so all I know is that Noah's Ark gets name dropped every so often.

EDIT: I just had an entertaining thought. Since the guys know how to do some martial arts, you think we'll see some decent fight choreography happen when serious things go down?
