I don't think that it's acting, at least, not really scripted. I think it's guys who enjoy being in front of a camera and chattering to the internet. They've got a story and they're planning ahead, but I don't think that they're following a script in the way that we're used to seeing from movies and plays.

Seconding this. I think that all they do is sit down and say "okay, we want to do X and Y in the next video, maybe sneak in a bit of Z." So no script, just basic outlines to work on.

And we can only hope for good choreography! Or they can go for realism instead, of course =P Or some mixture of the two.

Fix'd that for ya.

Lol, you boys are worse than a gaggle of 13-year-old girls for bitching and whining, some days.

I wonder if the EMH guys would give points to people who advertise their series on the tubes instead of in real life? I think I'd have more luck that way, as I doubt many people who use the public library are going to be interested in the kind of crap that I draw or throw together!

Irregardless if they are acting or not, it's pretty damn clear neither "weight lifting exercise guru" Vince or "Nutrition loving martial arts teacher" Evan have any idea what they are talking about in each episode. The last one was especially painful to watch.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the storyline, but I question doing a storyline on topics they clearly have no idea what they are talking about.

Now hold on. I'm a college runner, and I think that most of this would actually be helpful to beginners. It's not entirely 100%, and I can't vouch for the martial arts stuff, but I can look at these videos and go, "Yeah, that's more or less how it goes."

most of the health and fitness tips in the videos are legit, idk why you think they have no idea what theyre talking about.

Moving on, can we try to have an overall discussion about the flood mentioned in CANYOUSEETHEWORD's blogs? What is she talking about? Obviously it's the same flood mentioned in Marble Hornets, but has anyone figured out what exactly it is? On another note, she claims to have not planted the box in her most recent post. Even if she did it doesn't make any sense to me how she had gotten the photographs of the EMH crew in-game.

I haven't been reading much on CANYOUSEETHEWORDS, but the word [s]"flood[/s] conjures up the story of "Noah's Ark", as obvious as it is. I'll go over the tumblr later, I think.

There's not much to go over, it's just a collection of horrible alternative rock songs & bible passages.

I know this may sound a bit far-fetched, but could slenderman be some sort of an usher to another great flood?

I think the flood is actually a metaphor for for something else. It could be a cataclysm of some type, a great, all conquering disaster perhaps, or maybe something slightly closer to home.
I think the metaphor is an allusion to ToTheArk's (and the original biblical) "Deluge" and the rain storm in the video "Program". The biblical element seems to be unavoidable, however the logic behind it is still fuzzy.
I could speculate that perhaps it refers to the destruction of the sinners by God's destructive flood , but perhaps ol' Slendy is our flood, a supernatural and powerful being "sent" to dispose of the sinners of the Earth. That would tie in with the old stories of Der Großmann from the Black Forest, who hunted down and captured misbehaving children. Perhaps this was a softening of his real "purpose", or perhaps his beginnings. We know nothing of any real value about his victims' backgrounds, nothing that could point us to what really started him stalking or taking them, we speculate about it just being when you know about him, but what if there is something more to it?

Dray, I love your posts and I respect you quite a bit, and I know I'm just a guest, but could you cut the sexism? It's been going on for a while and it's getting to me. i'm sorry if i'm hyper-sensitive! i guess i'm in the minority when i say that you can be sexist to males just as much as you can be to females...

Also, about the talk of floods and such - I highly doubt it has anything to do with MH. I don't even think MH is canon in their universe (at least until I see some official confirmation!). Slender Man has been associated with water and natural disasters since the original SA thread. jonnymanic's theory is interesting, but it's hard for me to imagine Mr Slender with any comprehensible morality at all.

And as far as the Noah's Ark thing in House of Leaves, it's only mentioned a few times. Do you have a copy with the index in the back? Apparently Ark's are talked about on pages 77, 144, 261 and 333 according to that. And I'm in the midst of reading it myself, so all I know is that Noah's Ark gets name dropped every so often.

EDIT: I just had an entertaining thought. Since the guys know how to do some martial arts, you think we'll see some decent fight choreography happen when serious things go down?

77: ".. the spry interplay of hidden things and visible wings flung upon that great black sail of rods and cones , thin and fractionary, a covenant of light, ark for the instant, echoing out the dark and the Other.."

114 (your typo): "Hugh of Saint Victor has gone so far as to suggest that the antithesis of labyrinth -- that which contains work -- is Noah's Ark 138 -- in other words that which contains rest. x

261: ".. no matter how many creatures he flings on the wall of his tent, no matter how large or how real they may appear, they still all perish in a flood of darkness. No Noah's ark."

333: "The gli[ ]se rescued from that t[ ]r[ ]b[]le []ark warned that while paths might differ, the end might no[]."

Not sure if any of this is relevant to EMH. I still think we're supposed to be equating Vince to Holloway, though.

I sincerely hope there aren't any fighting scenes.

Does it have to be sinners?

I'm not necessarily talking about the Slender Man knowing why or what he's doing, but more saying that he does it. It may be some kind of primitive drive, like many of our baser instinct; the Slender Man is a force of nature, a creature of habit, something that is driven by an urge it doesn't understand. As many have said, just because it looks human doesn't mean its motivations are human or that it has any real "motivation" at all. All I'm saying is that maybe it feeds off a sense of guilt or something in the neurological electrical field triggered by feelings of guilt.
If I'm rambling or not making an awful lot of sense, that's probably the booze talking, I've had a bit to drink tonight.
But my word, doesn't it make the theories fall like a torrent?

EDIT: Edited for punctuation. Even when I've had a bit to drink; spelling, punctuation and grammar do not fall by the wayside! (And yes, I am aware that I've probably made some minor grammatical or punctuational errors even after this edit.)

I thought slendy was originally associated with fires in the original mythos? which would make more sense with the burnt photos and all

Yup, that makes sense. Brings Silent Hill 2 to mind. c:

I remember it being both (depending on the story and whatnot), but I'm too lazy to dig through the thread so there's a good chance I'm wrong.
