On topic discussion: I'm pretty sure the window slendy in #5 is Daniel, whoever it was that was asking about that. In fact, all the Slenderman in that is probably Daniel except for when Slendy appears in the shadows under the stairs.

I think all Slendies up until Ep 6 are Daniel. All Slendies past are the real thing.

And, I'm fairly sure the off-topic board isn't going to get much use; the conversations are pretty spontaneous. It's the same reason that getting an EMH sub-board probably wouldn't work as well as people think.

Well, Vince did say not all of the Slendermen were Daniel, and the one in the shadows under the stairs is a bit more authentic feeling than the window snap, which was much more scripted looking.

Yeah, I think we're going about this all wrong. I think this thread should remain as-is (in all of its unholy on- and off-topic gloriousness), but maybe we should create another thread where the main page is updated every time there is a new plot development so people can catch up easy.

OK, been watching the vids since they were pretty new, but I didn't know ANYTHING about damsel or the boxes until really recently. After I found a vid for the 3rd box, I figured I was missing something, then came around here.
Been playing catchup for awhile you guys talk a LOT.

So Day in the Life is clearly far more important than we first thought. My guess is there are definitely things that happened on that trip that we weren't shown and that they don't remember, hence the random clips that seem to be from DitL in Centralia. I think quitthecarnival is right in theorizing that they had a Operator encounter.
I think they may continue to refer back to it in the future. We'll see.

From what I can tell from the Congrats Magus and Centralia vid, it seems Slendy is almost....taunting Jeff. With Jessa's necklace, and her "appearance" in Congrats, that seems to be the vibe I'm getting.

As for the new letter - this settles it. The boys are somehow tied with Linnie, and someone else. Wasn't the other name in the Rake creepypasta Rose? Could that be the other blocked out name? Or it could be as ChildofAtom and a few others suggested, and Damsel's name is the one redacted, which I personally think is the case.
I still cannot get over how awesome it is they modeled it after dixie_wolf's dream. Remind me to not talk about my nightmares on this board. They are horrifying, and involve a certain man who lived on a certain street with a tree name...

I know the hamsa and their meaning have been discussed, (is it me or does He not like protective symbols? *clutches pentacle*) but water symbolism seems to play a crucial role in this as well. I have some books that talk about it, I'll post more if anyone is interested in hearing more.

Well, considering it's associations, I do think it may be relevant, but I wanted to inquire for interested before I spilled out a hole big thing and made myself look stupid.

The great poet Birago Diop wrote: "Those who are dead never left.../They are in the trickling of water, /They are in sleeping water./The dead are not dead/Hear more often/The murmur of things, not people/Hear the voice of water

So, water has a laundry list of associations, being one of the 4 Greek/western elements of fire water earth air, as opposed to the eastern 5 of fire water wood metal earth. Associations include dreams, emotions, the subconscious, intuition, the mind, and transformation. It's also associated with the west, which has in many cultures been thought to be the direction of the Otherworld or Underworld.

Most of the time people view it as somehow less dangerous or powerful than the other elements, but I think more poignant to this series is it's dark connotations - death, sleep, emotions.
There truly is an overwhelming quality that seems to be relevant here. Like Damsel's use of flood and water imagery on her blog could be symbolic of her overwhelming grief for her family, and her fear of the Operator.

Water also has a chaotic nature ie rapids, the rain, and a terrifying, unfathomable one ie the ocean. It could also be a symbol of emotions overwhelming a person.
I think in one of the "hidden" vids is a short clip of Evan underwater or drowning, right? That could be indicative of his emotional reaction to the Operator, or some kind of tie to the Habit being (whom I don't think is Evan, but for the sake of keeping every possibility open... )

I can't remember who exactly, but there was the theory that the "ark" from Welcome to the Ark, was some kind of netherworld of the Operator's, and that it may be somehow surrounded by water? That would make sense again, as water being the gateway to the Otherworld symbolism.

Dunno if any of this has any bearing on the EMH story, but I figure, good to know right?
