A compilation.

Poor didz. Please, don't hit play... we all know you'll never sleep again.

And if you actually upload a video of you on painkillers... that's.. just awesome.

I reckon it'd give you a giggle. Diamorphine knocks you for six. I still had the gas and air and refused to give it up, had to have it taken away from me because I fell to sleep with the pipe in my mouth. Kept waking up saying stuff like "the dogs are banned from the paddling pool!" and "I'm sure there were more loose panels than this". Fuck knows what I was dreaming about. Oh and my boyfriend fell to sleep on a bean bag covered in his coat, midwife tripped over him, he apologized, I told him off slurring "don't! that was fucking hilarious!" lol.

What's the best way to keep the numbers we've found so far from getting buried in .. the awesome, but distracting off topic discussion? i'm not getting anywhere with them, but i'm hoping someone else does. If they don't get buried.

3, 3, 2*,5, 14, 2*, 9, 4*, 6, 2*, 15, 2*, 6, 11, 27, 10, 1.

1, 14, 2, 12, 1, 1, 2, 15, 1, 5, 1, 2, 9, 2, 2, 4, 9, 7, 6, 20, 7, 11, 5, 29, 2, 26, 2, 8, 19, 6, 1 .

For the record.

I'd say copy and paste them into a word file or notebook. That way you'll have a copy. I realised I should have done that when I posted a list of messages from Alex lol. Took me the best part of last night to find the damn post but I've got it saved now and I'm working on the rest..........there's tons to get through.

I've been meaning to read that some day myself, but right now I'm working my way through Nabokov's Ada, so basically good luck to me getting around to reading anything else until like December. (and when did your avatar become Lucille Bluth? I knew you were awesome before, but now you are most awesome.)

"I'm going to the hospital bar."
"Uh, you know, there isn't a hospital bar, mother."
"Well, I guess that's why people hate hospitals...HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAHAHAHAHAHA."

Okay guys, here's the context for "Be not like me, I am alone". Again, if you guys want me to check for things and clues I'll go right ahead!

It's in the chapter that Didz, I believe it was, mentioned getting bored- the one on echoes. I skipped most of this one on my first read but on my second I forced through it and it's actually pretty interesting. See here and especially here.

In 1989, however, the noted southern theologian Hanson Edwin Rose dramatically revised this reading. In a series of lectures delivered at Chapel Hill, Rose referred to "God's Great Utterance" as "The Biggest Bang Of Them All." After discussing in depth the difference between the Hebrew davhar and the Greek logos, Rose took a careful accounting of St. John, chapter 1, Verse 1- "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It was a virtuoso performance but one that surely would have been relegated to those dusty shelves already burdened with a thousand years of seminary discourse had he not summed up his ruminations with this incendiary and still incendiary and still infamous conclusion: "Look to the sky, look to yourself and remember: we are only god's echoes and god is Narcissus."56

Rose's pronouncement recalls another equally important meditation:

Quote:
Why did god create a dual universe?
So he might say,
"Be not like me. I am alone."
And it might be heard.57

There is not time or room to adequately address the complexity inherent in this passage, aside from noting how the voice is returned- or figuratively echoed- not with an actual word but with the mere understanding that is was received, listened to, or as the text explicitly states "heard." What the passage occludes, no doubt on purpose, is how such an understanding might be attained.

56 Hanson Edward Rose, Creationist Myths (Detroit, Michiga; Pneuma Productions, 1989), p. 219.
57 (Johnny) These lines have a familiar ring though I've no clue why or where I've heard them before. 58
58 Though we were ultimately unsuccessful, all efforts were made to determine who wrote the above verse. We apologize for this inconsistency. Anyone who can provide legitimate proof of authorship will be credited in future editions. - Ed.

House of Leaves, page 45. That took awhile to type up, it better be important!

I haven't read the book yet so it wasn't me I'm afraid but it's good that you put the quote up. I can see that I'm going to be reading this from a psychologists point of view lol.

Hmm. I've got a feeling that at some point in this series we may address the origins of slenderman.. I know that probably won't be the most popular direction.. I wouldn't mind too much if it's done well.

I just don't know what else all the biblical allusions could hint to. Unless perhaps one of our narrators is viewing slendy as god (as i believe Navidison starts to believe of his house, at one point)

Correct. Page 390, page 2 of Navy's letter to Karen:

Will Navidson wrote:
Do you believe in God? I don't think I've ever asked you that one. Well I do now. But my God isn't your Catholic varietal or your Judaic or Mormon or Baptist or Seventh Day Adventist or whatever/whoever. No burning bush, no angels, no cross. God's a house. Which is not to say our house is God's house of even a house of God. What I mean to say is that our house is God.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Think I've lost my mind? Maybe, maybe, maybe Maybe I'm just really drunk. Pretty crazy you have to admit. I just made God a street address. Forget all that last part. just forget it. I miss you.

Annnnd if you couldn't tell from the spelling errors, that's when he starts to get really incoherent. Sniff.

Thanks for this, Volcanic. I'd like to go back to this bit:

Quote:
Why did god create a dual universe?
So he might say,
"Be not like me. I am alone."
And it might be heard.

One thing I've been wondering about since the photo from the third cache with Evan and Vince(?) sitting on a couch, with "the words" scribbled all over.

I think that "the words" obviously refers back to Damsel's blog, but what could "can you see the words" really mean? It occurred to me that, frankly, a man with no face would have a terrible time talking. So what does somebody do when they have no mouth but they must scream?

I think we've assumed that Slendy "speaks" by projecting his "voice" directly inside the listener's head. But what if that's not quite it? What if Slendy is utterly voiceless, but can force his victims/chosen ones/incipient puppets to see text floating in air or such? Being able to "see the words", then, would be evidence that you were in deep with Slender Man. Titling her blog that without really explaining it could also have served as a way for IG Damsel to weed out fake Slendy victims from the real deal, the way cops sometimes (according to the movies, at least) withhold details about the crime scene so they can tell if a confession is authentic.

Hm. This could also explain why we get Slender video distortion but no EVP from him.

I often wonder if Slendy projects images into the mind. Rather than a voice.
As for "can you see the words" I have no idea yet. I'll work on it while I sleep lol. My first thought was that Damsel was trying to tell them something but couldn't. Did her confession come out before or after the photo of Evan and Vinnie?

Interesting. I had always assumed(and indeed, written) Slendy as being able to communicate to a limited extent through the voice projection theory. But yours sounds much cooler

Before. Box #3 was found on 10/25, and her last post was released 10/31.

Another thing. Damsel's post was "But the monster was happy when we made him a maze", right? Because I'm listening to Peacebone now and the real line is "I bet the monster was happy when we made him a maze".

I may have to give this a rethink. Usually when someone says something like "can you see the words" they're imploring that you're blind to something. Like a "can't you see it?!" type thing. As Jeff isn't part of that specific picture I'm wondering what he knows that they don't. Whether its the fact that he remembers Corenthal or at least has been reminded by the notes he found, yet Vinnie and Evan don't seem to know anything about him but their names have been mentioned too. Maybe they're not remembering things from their past that could help them see clearly.......if that makes ANY sense, I'm tired and waffling again.
