Just to clarify, he has, actually. He wore a bioshock (1) shirt earlier in the season (I remember because bioshock is one of my all time fav games).
anyway my point is that if his clothes have meaning, he HAS worn a similar shirt before.
hoping i don't come off as mean sounding.

That was my post, and naw, that's not mean-sounding. (I don't mind corrections. I get things wrong sometimes!) I must've just forgotten about it. But I still think there's a reason for him wearing that shirt.

Everything else was dirty?

Well, it's not like water is important or anything.

Not meanspirited, i'm just snarky tonight.

Jeff has been sketchy to me since he took off and didn't explain anything about the papers and Corenthal to us or, possibly, to the guys. Now he seems to be in another manic episode and frankly his tweet about how "they'll want to be here" for his big plans - followed by an emoticon - feels sinister to me.

Couple options on the phone, assuming Jeff is not lying about Vince being around.

1) The Rake stole it to use. I don't believe that, as I don't believe it's into that sort of thing or perhaps even capable of it.
2) SM took it. Possible.
3) Vince is up to shit w/the Rake and left it there himself, or is the Rake.
4) Jeff is up to same shit and took it himself.

or the good doctor is really trying to get Slenderman, and using the boys as bait. That's what his experiment was back in the day, a way to catch Mr. Thin.

That is why the house is rigged with cams we didn't know about.

I think inserting a dude in his '60s or '70s or '80s or whatever lurking around putting Xtube feeds in the guys' houses secretly and manipulating it all is a bit too much of a comic book, a bit too Saw. And I hate those films.

But it's possible one of the existing cast is a mole for him. However, I think Corenthal is not a real player. I think he's either dead or worse.

Or there was no phone.

Suggestion for discussion:

Coreinthal=Zampino.

Looks like I've officially dragged myself into this mess, so... hey guys ^.^;

posting because this is driving me batty... all of two people have mentioned it at all and it's been summarily dismissed each time. Too much focus on the phone and other speculations going on I guess. But seriously, Why was Jeff in bed with a box cutter?? Everyone seems to be overlooking that... I've watched the video for it a few times now, this is my analysis...

1) It's not in Alex's room to start with. We get a clear view of his desk when Evan enters, plenty of crap, but no box cutter. So he didn't pick it up in there when they entered.
2) There is a skip before they wake up Jeff, but after that it's a straight shot from there back to Alex's room to find the mess. We don't see anyone pause to pick anything up on the way back to Alex's room. So he had to have had it on him the whole time before we see him set it down on the table.
3) I know, Jeff doesn't have anything in his hands when we first see him... but there appears to be a bulge in the pocket of the hoodie that looks about the size/shape of a box cutter. (check thereabouts 4.05) The camera kind of hovers down there for a while.

I don't think Jeff is stupid enough to think that would have protected him from Slendy. I get the impression, especially given prior events/tweets, that Jeff has been feeling suicidal lately. This revelation might have just saved him from himself...

also, what is... Jeff, I think, saying right before the Rake is heard? Sounded to me like "Open water." Or am I just hearing things? ...I did think they said "Linnie's Phone" at first, so maybe I'm losing it there.

well, they did seemingly make a point of looking at the box cutter.
that would be really sad D:
but I def think it isn't a far stretch. it also seems to fit with what he has been saying, and the current theories of depressing and longstanding theories of general crazy-ness.

and no hashtags with 'jeff' should ever be used again. because he is obvously 'sad panda' now.

Great post, Mimzy, and welcome.

I think you're right, there never was a chance for Jeff to have picked up the box cutter, so he must have had it on him while he was sleeping/moping. I think the only two plausible options are that he was planning for the possibility of self-harm, or he knew the Rake was prowling around and was keeping an inconspicuous weapon on hand just in case.

Jeff's bit before the Rake growls sounds something like "maybe it's in the walls?" to me, but I'm not positive.

I think you miss my point. He TRIED, back in the day. But the kids didn't work, but he still kept tabs on him. Once he noticed Slendy REALLY showing up, he went into full swing. Rigs the house with cams, etc.

Also, as the box cutter:

Work? I've had jobs where I've come home with box cutters, pliers, etc in my pockets and just thrown them neck to my bed as I crashed. Or, if they posed no threat, kept them in my pocket.

but they *focused* on it. if it had just been from work, they probably wouldn't have bothered to show it at all. unless they wanted to make us speculate?

I noticed the box cutter when I saw the video too. I didn't really think anything of it though.

As much as I want the current situation with Jeff and Alex to be them trying to just act like everything's normal and save their mental health, it doesn't feel right.
Jeff's untrustworthy. The last video told us he was blind, at least to Alex. Who knows what else. He was really pissed off in Centralia and seemed motivated at the end of the video to finally try to do something. Then he just goes into a depressive state for at least a week. Now he's acting totally fine?

Also (and completely unrelated), I think he looks pretty good with some stubble...

I think it's more of the way that Jeff has been coping with this all along. He's been pretty bipolar the whole time, going from "On this brisk autumn day, I feel... excited. Things seem brighter. I know we'll find her and everything will be fine. This will work. [J]" before the Ashen Waste video and then, in the beginning of the video itself, saying he didn't think they were going to find anything.

It makes sense that finding Jessa's necklace and presuming her dead would aggravate this kind of behavior - sulk for a week, act really really happy for a week, etc.

Or he could just legitimately be relieved that someone told him about Alex before it was too late. I'd be happy, too. Anyway, it doesn't necessarily have to be suspicious that he's suddenly acting excited.

I really think between how Jeff's been acting and the last bit of ". . . .", that Jeff knew about the Rake in his house.

That's not impossible. I mean someone had to have heard all the noise and shit it was making. Jeff's room is close by. If he did know, there's a few options I can think of
- He thought avoiding the problem would solve it (we know how well that works)
- He didn't want to face the facts
- He (or someone controlling him maybe) wanted Alex hurt
- He didn't know what it was doing, just that it was there
- He was too out of it to care

But, that makes Jeff's motives pretty much evil. Unless he's being controlled, I don't think he knew. Or he was too out of it to really process what that meant.
