Ah, I see where I made my mistake. I think the door that the other end of the chain is attached to has to either be a door we never saw before or it's the door between Alex's bedroom and the bathroom but opposite Jeff's bedroom. This is bizarre.

Think about it this way: Your floorplan is closer to reality than mine, I think, but it still doesn't work because it means Evan would have had to chain Alex's bedroom door to Jeff's bedroom door. That can't be right, though, because after the chains are in place we get a quick look into Jeff's bedroom, which is adjacent to one of the chained doors.

But earlier we saw Alex walk out of his bedroom and enter the second door on his right, which was the bathroom.

I think the rooms on that floor might be arranged in a subtly curved circular plan. Maybe? Either that or they've hidden a really painfully subtle clue in the differences between the room layouts in the surveillance footage and the room layouts at the end of the video.

EDIT: Never mind, I think I have it figured out.

I think that the video footage could have been mirrored possibly? Like the bathroom would be across from Jeff's room perhaps?
