In those cases I would presume the creators of said shirts either received permission or are making no profit or are not using the name to advertise (sponsor) another product/resource/etc.

I'm just saying, better safe than sorry. I'm no expert and could be wrong on fair use rights in this case, but I think it's just a highly risky move at the top end to sell tshirts labeled with a movie where the funds are donated to an organization that is not legally sponsored/endorsed by said movie. Seems like a legal battle waiting to happen (depending on the trademark owner of course).

Honestly, I think a simple "We must party." shirt is just better anyway, possibly with the UF ref to help the forum if allowed.
..or what Tenshi just said. But that could boil down to intent... I think even if a trademark isn't used, if the intent is to leech on a clearly recognizable trademark, there can be issues. A plain super8 camera might be vague enough, whereas a cropped clip of the yellow truck from the trailer might not... *shrug* I dunno.

Hey, maybe a hand-drawn/cartooned yellow truck representing the teaser's truck skidding could work Smile


eta: in short, perhaps any loose connection imagery.
* A super8 camera (not in the style/front perspective of the teaser though)
* An illustration of the yellow truck
* An image of railway crossing lights or the crossing sign...
something vaguely connected but recognizable and not copied directly from the teaser

 		I wasnt really meaning useing a clip of the trailer but more something like this.

 		Wow, this blew up quickly. As I said I want to make some shirts for myself, and if there is interest in the final product, print more for the community. The design will be as simple as possible as we will be screen printing these ourselves, which means no fancy graphics with tons of colors, as this would get very expensive very quickly, since it would require a separate screen for each color. I hope this clears things up a bit. I'm still considering the final design and will post it here eventually.

Just remember, We must party.

No worries Smile I like the idea of sending one to JJ, as I could imagine him lurking his very forum. I'll send one to his company and hope he gets it.

Oh ok gotcha. Yeah that's what I was kind of going for but the font I chose was the closest I had. If there is a free font out there I could download and someone would be kind enough to link me I can change it. Any other suggestions? I thought about adding "noise". Make it look more antique. I don't know how well that would screen, though.
