Operator is also the term used to describe the oscillators in FM synthesizers (like the Yamaha DX series or the Clavia Nord Lead).

Also, they can either be "carrier" operators, which produce the core sound, or "modulator" operators, which change the properties of the carrier. It's exactly the same principle as used to transmit messages or music for FM Radio; the modulator is the message and the carrier is the medium (so to speak).

Probably not relevant but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Cool

p.s: Excellent idea by the way Mr. Stick!

Those stuck out to me. Advocate makes me think of Masky and TTA 2 people. Like whatever Masky wants to tell J, TTA can do it (why he can't just do it himself, iono). Since Advocate focused on Brian maybe he's TTA >_>

Regards is really neat too. Look closely was the message.

I thought the message was listen closely?

And Kjax, it's a really interesting theory, but the biggest problem with that is Advocate. It's very obviously footage from Alex's camera. So how could the Operator co-opt it?

And while we're dissecting video names, I think it'd be a worthy pursuit to try and identify all the motifs that show up in TTA's videos, as well as identifying any patterns. I'm not sure what we could hope to accomplish through that, honestly. There's no puzzles as much as there are things that are open to interpretation.

Anyway, the biggest motif seems to be water, right? And there's his insistence upon listening. There's references to phones/radios. And, even though he's obsessed with listening, he does have a fascination with eyes it seems.

You know, with all the references to "trees" in regards to the Operator, and all the references to "water" with TTA, it makes me wonder if TTA isn't someone who's inadvertently channeling some kind of deity of water... or, the water equivalent to whatever the Operator would be.

I'm not sure if anyone's noticed it before, but I just rewatched Advocate and the same Stigma character appears on the upper right hand side of the screen for five seconds from 0.12 to 0.18.

Huh... it's really obvious now that you pointed it out.

Impurity has a smudge either on the lens or a dot of rain on the window. Probably pointed out somewhere.

Ooh this is great, I'm all for interpretation! Even if we accomplish nothing, it'll still be fun right?

Also as a noun, particularly in the plural: good wishes or greetings (esp in the phrase "with kind regards", used at the close of a letter)

I thought it might be TTA sending his regards to Jay, a very tongue-in-cheek greeting since this was his first communication. Sort of sarcastically complimenting and congratulating Jay on bring so plucky and putting things together, and then goading him on by telling him where to look.

Quote:
Impurity:...2. Something that renders something else impure; an inferior component or additive.

I really like this definition - I think it could be part of the water motif. Since this is the video of rain pouring down on some trees, maybe this backs the theory that water is bad for the operator, an impure element that repels or weakens him.

Quote:
Program: 2. A plan or schedule of activities, procedures, etc., to be followed.
8.Computers

Or maybe like a show, following the radio/TV motif. Hmm, would a Youtube series count as a program?

Quote:
Advocate: 1. Someone who speaks on behalf of another person

This one is really interesting. Maybe it means that TTA is speaking for someone.
Or it might be advocate as a verb: preach: speak, plead, or argue in favor of; "The doctor advocated a smoking ban in the entire house"
Maybe TTA is arguing a certain point, something to do with Brian and running out of time.

Quote:
Addition: 1. The act or process of adding or uniting.

Also probably "a component that is added to something to improve it, meaning just that this is an addition to the story Jay already told us about exploring the house in entry 16. This adds to the story by letting us know that there was someone else in the house.

Don't want to derail this too much, but I can't find much reference to thism and was wondering what folks thought... In 'return', it looks like Jay vanishes. He gets obscured as slendy lumbers towards the camera, but I'm sure if you look past the long legs he's not there a second later.

This could be down to a dodgy jump cut - but would the MH guys make that kind of mistake, being film students and all? Might it imply some warpy / time shindigs going on?

I think he's still there, but on closer inspection, it don't look like he's staying still neither. Could but just me but it almost looks to me like you can see him get up.

I always thought he crawled away after the operator walked by him, and that it was just hard to see because of the skippyness of the frames in that segment, plus him being low to the floor. But who knows *shrug*

He doesn't not move, but he doesn't move much, very near to the end of the video you can see the side of his cranium stick out behind the Operators right arm before the Operator tilts back to the left of the screen and obscures Jay again.

I watched return again a few times(Even though it is by far the most terrifying TTA video in my opinion). I would agree it looks like Jay gets up. I almost want to say that he was supposed to be sleepwalking, since he looked asleep when he was in the chair.

So, I was watching advocate and the marble hornets wiki said the binary reads YAMA. But then I noticed that the S and TICK TOCK were both upside down. Did anyone try to decode it upside down? I still don't understand the binary so I can't do it.

We had this bit...

Raj39 wrote:
I might have found something. Regarding the video "Program", it's been said that the binary code spells "YAMA", but no one really agrees on what it means. Someone else pointed out that the "upside-down s" in the left side of the video may actually be the Greek letter stigma (ϛ). On a whim, I decided to take the letters and transliterate them into similar sounding letters in Greek, to see if it said anything new. Nothing came of it. Then I remembered the suggestion that the code might have to be read upside-down, because the key to "Program", "Advocate", flashes the message "tick tock" upside-down. When you turn "Y" on its head, it reads the letter "lambda" (λ). Now the message reads "λαμα", which according to GoogleTranslate (though not BabelFish) means "BLADE". I think this may be the real deal, because it actually would relate to the rest of the video.

It's close to what you are asking about, but not quite it. I don't recall if anyone did an honest to goodness full upside-down binary thing.

I don't know if this have been brought up, but here it goes.

Remember Admission? And how we all thought it was the Operator strolling through the video with his head lowered? Well, that doesn't really sit right with me. As we all know, the Operator is a right fine gentleman and would never do something so uncouth as slouch.

A lot of us at my end have been talking, and it seems more likely to us that it's a person walking around either sleepwalking or extremely dazed. The vertical lights in the background are QUITE similar to the blinds in Brian's house.

I haven't taken a look at Return to see if Jay gets up (mostly because I can't watch the video without getting overwhelmingly nauseous. HE'S RIGHT THERE.) But perhaps this could be a connection between Admission and Return?
