Pre-games

I was just thinking about pre-games. Somethimes you see them sometimes not. But I got a couple of questions.

Should a alternative reality game always have a pregame, or not?

What makes a good pre-game?

What are the most common mistakes?

What is you're experience with pre-games?

Depends on the game, and how many players you want to try to wait on before starting. And maybe would depend on what kind of background information you'd like to have laid out.

Interesting material. Something to be able to research that will relate to the game. Sort of like studying up for a test... being able to find at least a few bits of information or clues that will give us some idea of what the game may be about, or what's expected.

Probably starting off with alot of activity all at once, and then nothing.

I've only been involved with a few that used pre-games. And if they are done good, and with interesting material, and a few things to discover, then they are fun. But when they start quickly with information overload, then die... not too good.

Oh, and don't go crazy with a dozen blogs, twitters, and FB's to try to follow. Smile
