Ethan blog weirdness

Before the "Looking for JR" post on ethan.thenekodas.com, both I and catherwatch were on the #matrix channel in IRC. THe bizarre thing was, not only did we not see that post, but we both saw two completely different posts.

catherwatch can remember better what she saw, had something to do with Dina needing to see a therapist and going to a sleep clinic. What I saw was Ethan fretting about the whole Todd Rogan encounter, saying how he had this extremely weird feeling about the guy. He also worriedly wondered if he would run into him again when he went to Seattle on Fri.

In any case, both posts were gone when we did a refresh on the page, replaced with the current post. If only we had the foresight to do a text capture before we did that...

Weirdness... The PM's seem to be playing us quite well here... Smile

I don't suppose this is the kind of thing that would stay in your cache?

Very weird.

I'm in #matrix aswell as you all found the updates and all I got was the one that everyone else is getting. The PMs are either playing us like a tune or they just stuffed something up. I reckon they're playing us.

Even stranger... I just hopped onto netninja's site and tried to access Ethan's archives there http://netninja.com/scrapbook/Metacortex/ethan.thenekodas.com/ and got a 500 Internal Server Error...

Curiouser and curiouser...

You guys just had old versions of the page on your cache because you needed to refresh. The post you mentioned can all be found by clicking on the ARCHIVE link from the main page...

No, let me clarify (since I was catherwatch at the time). I had been refreshing that blog all day (the 29th) and only seeing the Oct. 23rd "no cow level" entry at the top of the page. Around 11pm that night, I did one more refresh and noticed the addition of the Oct.28th entry and commented on it in chat. It was a long entry (with no Dallas itinerary at all), and I distinctly read the word "therapist" in it -- which is nowhere on the site now.

What we temporarily saw was Ethan telling Dina that she was kicking him in her sleep, which won't take place until he arrives back home. It included several long paragraphs telling her that there is no shame in seeking help for her sleep disorder.

My theory is that we happened to see the PMs update the site with the wrong entry, which was quickly replaced by the correct entry. I say we can let this drop for now. (And remember to do screen grabs and/or save source code whenever you see something new!)

Curiouser and curiouser...

I have been tweaking with the archives--making it easier for me to add files and descriptions, and layout changes. Something broke because of differences between my live and development machines. Nothing strange or mysterious. Just me not paying attention after posting new code. Smile (Thanks go to Gupfee in IRC for originally drawing my attention to this.)

ETHANS BLOG IS BACK ANY CHANGES??

October 28, 2003
Looking for JR
Hey, I'm here. I could really get into this weather if I could put up with all the hats and big belt buckles. Here's my schedule again, I don't know if you were coherent this morning when I left.

Today-Dallas
Wednesday-Dallas
Thursday-Denver
Friday-Seattle (again)
Saturday morning-home

Man, I feel like I know every nook and cranny of SEATAC by now. Gruelling week, but at least I'll get home for the weekend.

ETHANS BLOG IS BACK ANY CHANGES??

its the same
http://ethan.thenekodas.com/archives/2003_10.html#000270
http://ethan.thenekodas.com/archives/2003_10.html#000271
are the same... going to check the source code.. i think someone may have made a cockup in the AVG as it was totally removed earlier.

Or could this be a Glitch...
Depends If Dina or Ethan Comment on it

No it isn't... try this:
http://ethan.thenekodas.com/archives/2003_10.html#000273
or this:
http://ethan.thenekodas.com/archives/2003_10.html#98123765234

It doesn't matter what numbers you use after that. If it isn't correct, you'll be taken to top of the October archives. This, however:
http://ethan.thenekodas.com/archives/2003_10.html#000271
takes you to the Looking for JR post in those archives. So they "skipped" #270. Heh, I wonder why... Wink
