[EMH] Support for a new sub-forum?

I know that there has been discussion of this in the main thread and the OT thread. I just figure that I bring it up here so it doesn't get lost in either thread.

Thread in the General Administration sub-forum (thread was started by awakeasaurusrex)

We can all try and plead them by asking nicely if EMH can have it's own sub-forum like Marble Hornets does. I already made a post when the main thread was about 920 pages in length, it has obviously grown since then. I also referenced the other sub threads and how many pages/posts there were all together.

Following the EMH thread is next to impossible, so yeah, I think it is needed.

However, as with MH, it should be made a sub-board of the Slendy Forum so that it is easy to find.

If you two would like, you can still head over there and put your two cents in. The more support that we get, the more likely it is that EMH will get a subforum for better organization and less digging through to find other Slendy stories, well, that is, if we were to do what was suggested by the mods...

Yeah, please don't do this. If you seclude side stories to their own forums, the fun of finding and following new ones will be lost to esotericism.

Except if we do as the mods have suggested, which is start a new thread for every new event in EMH, the new side stories will get buried. We're trying to make one of the larger series a bit easier to navigate so that a) the people who follow it and want to join later can figure things out, and b) the new/smaller series don't get drowned out by EMH threads.

EMH has come to the point at which it is even bigger then Marble Hornets. Heck, it has its own personal army of supporters ready to attack anyone that questions its greatness (G.I.R), as well as a large community of followers, with a few dozen of our members directly involved with its storyline. If Marble Hornets gets its own board, then surely EMH more then qualifies.

I'm not even a fan of EMH, but I'm in support of this idea. I was thinking a while ago that MarbleHornets doesn't really seem to see the activity to deserve its own forum, and should be merged with Slendie stuff in general, but giving them both a sub-forum works well too.

ly seems to participate in EMH.

I don't think anyone who has actively taken part in EMH could deny that the main thread has become impossibly unwieldy to navigate, or that if we took the advice given and made individual threads for each new release of EMH content the Slender Man Mythos subforum would be overwhelmed. But neither ndemeter nor DavFlamerock seems to have made any recent posts on EMH - they're not in the game. So they probably don't realise what seems completely obvious to us.

Yet the mods appear to consider the matter resolved, because they haven't responded to any of the points we've raised since their last statements on this issue. Sad
I think that if we did what they suggested, the forum would be flooded, then them might realize what we mean, but I'd feel terrible flooding the SMM subforum with nothing but EMH threads... But that may be the only way that we can get the mods' attention which would suck.

I'd like to stay away from this idea, but if there is any other way to get the mods to notice that the threads (especially that main one) are just too unruly without making more threads for every little update. I'd hat to resort to that, but that our last ditch effort, if all else fails... Sad

Nah, that's just going to piss them off; which won't work to our cause at all. I've got full confidence that they will be able to come up with a solution to it; and hell, we could try it their way for a while, too. There's no reason we can't take their suggestion, even if we feel we have a better one.

Moderators cannot create new areas. That is a function reserved for the admins of the forums. Moderators work within the existing threads and can do things like edit posts to remove spam links for example. We always operate in a spirit of transparency (for example, we will never just merge two threads for the same thing without a post stating we did so) but we are confined to the spaces already created within uF.

If a need exists to promote a game to its own area (or move a game to the Archives) an admin needs to get involved. They have the ability to see beyond the threads and into the core of the software that powers these boards and make the final determinations.

Admins and Moderators communicate all the time to make sure this place always runs as smoothly as possible. But having said that, we are all volunteers and have jobs and families. Compound that with the fact that it's the holiday season and some of us are spending quality time away from the almighty computer.

So that's where we are at. The admins have not said "what?!?! that's ridiculous!! never!!" to the idea but at the same time they have not dropped everything they are doing, jet back from the various vacation spots, get on a computer to create a separate EMH forum.

Thus I ask for patience. Enjoy the holidays, drink some spiked egg nog, and rest assured that we are reading and taking everything into consideration. Thanks.

He hath spoken! So, we just have to be patient, it seems like!
