If I was bringing my project money to a location and they treated me like that, I think all of my films' working titles would be "Price Gouging Sucks".
I think the working titles are sometimes to keep from such issues, but there's two other reasons. First, if you film 'Star Trek' and plaster that all over the production, you're going to have to tear gas your way through the geek herd every time you want to get onto the set. Second, if you are trying to have a real surprise - be it a big name franchise, surprise project, or highly anticipated new production - you can't tip people off with the real title. If you saw a project filming with 'Super 8' as the displayed title, the viral would be dead pretty quickly - the JJ fan horde would have more camera angles than the crew and the fine details of the action and dialog would be written down and cross-referenced by the time they called 'CUT!'
I really would expect more disconnected working titles per JJ's style, like The Petrified Monkey Vomit Chronicles.

Why would they hide the Star Trek 2 title from us?
It's not that Paramount/BR is hiding the title from us. But if a movie crew pulls into to town to film STAR TREK, the price of everything goes up. "I'm filming ARIES" draws little notice or interest.
They filmed Cloverfield under the title "Cheese" for the same reason.
Then again, it was pretty obvious what they were filming in the first place, so whatever.

Not that the fake titles really stop fans from peeking on locations: one making-of segment on CLOVERFIELD showed that fan vidphone clips of "Cheese" were on the interwebs from filming earlier that same *morning*. Ah, technology!
EDIT: okay, this is my third post with no White Screen of Limbo after submitting. Huzzah and to all those who worked to fix the glitch!

Yes, it's back. As I said elsewhere, it seems to return after every time I say it's gone! So I won't say that anymore.

I typically get it if I do a Preview first.
EDIT: ~sigh~ Okay, did a straight Submit and got the white screen. Guess Previewing has nothing to do with it.

Aries... They're working on this a block from my work I received a letter in our company mail today noting that "Blue Floor Productions will be filming sequences of the Paramount Pictures feature film "Aries"" next month, about a block from where I'll be sitting. Judging by this, I'd say it's the actual title of the film. It mentions they'll be doing pyrotechnics tests this month, so it's undoubtedly some sort of action film. They very specifically mention that although the tests will be ending with one "larger" explosion, there "will NOT be a large fireball as a result". Shame.

Yes your right, Faiora! Aries was the fake name for Mission Impossible: Ghost Patrol. I just searched "Aries" on IMDB and it came up with Mission Impossible 4 and showed the fake working title.

Faiora, thank you for information! Be free and join our forum, if you want - and perhaps there will be an M:I-ARG? I actually wish they'd do one.
