I actually live in Ohio (columbus) and work for Battelle (we wrote the Blue Book report, well before my time unfortunately). If you want any history lessons regarding the report or wright-pat let me know and I can surely give it to you (within reason, I have security clearances).

Do you really think obeying security clearance is in the spirit of playing an ARG? We'll get nowhere at that rate!

Just kidding, Matty. Cool Please chime in with details as theories and reveals arise.

Well, I value my job and my life for that matter Cool ! It is widely known around here that Wright Pat has a number of highly secure 'hangars' and even had a manager (@ Battelle) once tell me about multiple underground levels there. I have heard this rumor before, but I am a large skeptic, and I never believed in any sort of thing until it came out of his mouth. My college roommate (and current good friend), his dad works at wright pat and has a TS (top secret) clearance as an engineer. I'm low on the totem pole in the grand scheme of things so unfortunately I don't know much outside of my own projects and field (being microbiology).

But Battelle did write the Blue Book report, they even tell you that during your orientation. Basically, all we did was gather a team of 'experts' to review all the reports and try to come up with scientific claims that "could" explain each case. That's all Blue Book was, it wasn't meant to be taken as "ufo's do/do not exist", just meant to offer explanations as to what real world things might've caused these phenomena.

spectrogram again

I played around with the spectrogram. Depending the way you look at it, you see either letters or notes. I used spectre for mac. I used a lowpass of 1000hz, because there was some "noise" over the notes, resolution was 1024 and FFT Windows as Blackmann.

Hope this prove to be useful.

Has anyone thought that the numbers as explained by Bruce are a number plus an extension?

Quote:
The tones are centered approximately around frequencies (hz): 600, 750, 600, 850, 550, 650, 650, 950
The tones appear to be separated in increments of 50hz.
As a pattern, with 550 being the lowest represented as 1, the tone pattern becomes 25271339

All we would need is an area code.

Well if it is a phone number has anyone tried Dayton Ohio? I saw that people have attempted numbers in Nevada, but not Ohio. The area code around Dayton is 937

I've tried Dayton and Cincinnati(where I think the train got derailed) and even as a 1-800 # no luck.

Dayton and Cinny are disconnected, and the 1-800 is weird though. It just asks to leave a message or a numeric response.

I really think a phone number will appear as a more concrete/obvious form.

I'm not sure those running the game want us blindly calling a bunch of people who aren't in-game asking them cryptic questions about Capt Coop or posting publicly. That's harassment.

We're getting a lot of repeat questions and suggestions, so I've tried to clarify things by putting a list of them, pulled out of the thread, onto the super 8 wave. I got up to about page 12 of the thread, but am now falling asleep Drool

Please edit it if you try something that doesn't work - if you have a different attempt that isn't recorded or want to carry on where I left off adding solve attempts and spec. There are still things listed there that have been suggested, but not tried (or the result not reported back).

Most importantly, have a check in the wave or search/read this thread to see whether you're coming up with something new before you post Wink

[Meta]This is me also testing to see whether the wave can be useful for the group in solving things, its certainly more concise than the thread to read through, and I'm happier putting wilder ideas on it than would be appropriate on the wiki Very Happy

Sine Wave or Cosine Wave???
Sine Wave or Cosine Wave???

Going back to the Sine Wave symbol over the Super 8 trailer on the website...How do we know it's a SINE wave? I mean, I'm in a calculus class, and when I saw that symbol I thought it could have been sine OR cosine. So, how do we know which it is? -Just a thought Very Happy

Tones

I added the file into a visualizer and magnified everything so we can see the structure of each tone. May be interesting.

Don't mean to start a fight, but...

Being a music major, and undergoing a lot of melodic dictation, I agree with all of the notes except one.

C#,F#,C#,G#,C#,D#,D#,G#

It is a B sharp(Same as C natural), one half step from a C#, All the notes sounded right except for that, I heard Dissonance with the C#.

C#,F#,G#,B#,D#,D#,G#

I know you guys have established the notes, but please play the two together, the B# fits better (Same as C Natural)

in solfege, (This is the key of C#)

Do, Fa, Do, Sol, Ti, Re, Re, Sol. (If you were curious about the hand signs)

1,4,1,5,7,2,2,5

EDIT: Sh*t someone already pointed this out, sorry, free solfege at least Smile

Okay. I came originally to start a brand new thread entitled

MY DEAREST JJ

followed by an image of that guy sitting at the desk tapping his fingers in sheer boredom. Waiting...endless waiting. To suggest they get on with it already.

Then I saw this thread and got excited, read the first half a dozen posts and realized there is absolutely nothing whatsoever I can contribute to this one on any level, I am entirely out of my league. I'my not even going to read 17 pages because I know there's little chance I'll even comprehend what you're all discussing. Music was never my forte' - as close as I get to the musical genius is groupie band slut.

Instead, I decided to just post this to grovel and send praise.

You people really impress the shit out of me sometimes.

Whatever it is you do, know that some of us are genuinely impressed. Don't stop.

And I needed to enable the notification so I can keep up with new stuff.

Hugs.

Don't take the discussion that literally — until we have hard knowledge, we're referring to it as the 'sine wave' for sheer simplicity. We can't just call it the 'wave' because we have an (excellent) Google Wave running in conjunction with this forum.

Just ride the wave for now. Smile
