I understand this music file has been linked to the Golden Ratio.

However, it also peaked my interest that someone pointed out that the IP address using the numbers matches that of HP. May I point out that under the SETI Project page on Wikipedia (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, all the projects taken to... Well, pretty self explanatory) in 1971 NASA funded that very same company to research the means to further the project. Bernard Oliver founded HP, and worked directly with Astrophysicist Frank Drake in this project. This is the SAME Frank Drake whom wrote the Drake equation and sent out the Arecibo message to attempt and communicate with ETs.

Just found this connection odd, and I understand the evidence of the Golden Ratio theory. Could the HP connection be possible though??

Just to add to this, Frank Drake ALSO worked with Carl Sagan at Cornell University in the 70s and 80s and it was with help of Sagan's theory that the Golden Records were sent on the Voyager into space.

Oh. Huh. It does. Does this mean anything? It must have been changed when they added the expcnv.dat.

EXPCNV.DAT as experiment of CNV?
a possible connection between Super 8 and the experiments of CNV in the 70s

You may find interesting this analysis: http://super8ilfilm.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/il-file-audio-expcnv-dat-di-scariestthingieversaw-com-puo-significare-qualcosa/ (sorry it's in italian, try Google Translate).

The basic idea is that the file name EXPCNV means "experiment of CNV".
Those kind of experiments were linked to paranormal activities (see here: http://jeksite.org/psi/cnvapp.doc and here http://jeksite.org/psi/cnv1.pdf) and consists in pairs of stimuli (like 4 pairs of sounds...) that are used to measure or cause some kind of action (mind control?).

what do you think?

Question, since we were on the subject of CNV. Did all computer files/programs have extensions back in the 70's? If not could the CNV be an in file name designator for a type of file?

http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/cnv

Pazcal also brings up a good point, perhaps the CNV is for a type of DNA experiment?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copy_number_variation

Looks like it deals with DNA. DNA is mapped and drawn like the Golden Spiral (double helix)? And looking back at the images of the sound file reminds me of how DNA looks when watching those crime scene shows. And didn't we send a map of our DNA or something into space via mathematical sound? Maybe it was in a movie but I vaguely remember something to this affect.

Just a thought I've had (but don't really have time to explore it until tonight)...

If we've been given the golden ratio (1.618033), how do we use it?

Every piece we've been given has had a number on the end (Super 8, File List B4, Braegen 14). Are we to assemble the golden ratio? Is this the clue to access a secret file on scariestthingieversaw?

I don't think so...I think I would have noticed that over the last couple days. I think that's brand new.

Good point. Infact numbers seem everywhere.

- 8 Notes forming phi
- PDP-11
- Liscense code (previously noted)
- Almost all the files

Throwing in a fibonacci link, I had to raise the base frequency of the phi sequence by 21 (8th number in Fib sequence) to get the same pitch.

-Quote from printout (tenious): Stop posting publicly. I can answer your questions. I have proof.

Hmmmm, Roman numerals you get I, I....

1,1 (...you know...2,3,5,8,13,21 etc.,)

I suspect there's something in the popeteers site pic also; but haven't got time to read 54 forum pages. Point being (on the back of golden ratios), the dad and son both point to a focal intersection on the moon, situated at approx 120deg from the horizontal (or at roughly 1 o'clock).... I think that is v.delibrate, but not sure why...

Others?

Must dash, flight to catch.

I think it was updated the same time as expcnv.dat, because the list was changed from 11 things to 12 with expcnv.dat.

You are right!

After the .dat file was added:

Have we tried all the combinations of the above input codes?

And, ... After the DEVICE is mounted ...
Do we enter a /(slash) :(colon) .(point) or any other symbols before the device code is entered? (I've tried too many combinations, my head has detached itself from my body).

The real PDP-11 (as deduced from simulator) require DEVNAME: (with a colon)

It seems strange to me that an archival data store (AF-B4) is actively changing. Why not just add access to one of the other already listed files somehow?

Is AF-B4.01 different in some other way?

Maybe there is something we're not getting and those running the game put EXPCNV in there to help us along a path that has been there all along, but we're still blind to. Sort of like a hint or "hey guys, try looking at what you have again, but keep this in mind". It just doesn't seem to make sense to me, otherwise.

Instead of continuing to wait for our feedings, maybe we have to revisit all our previous hunting ground.

I've also noticed, when entering code on the initial screen (before entering .REENTER)

... Using .COMT .EXEC .PRINT :

If you use one of the available codes, you get the message: ?IND-F-File Read Error

But, if you input a random code, you get: ?IND-F-Invalid Request

Not sure if this info is of any value. But, I think because there are two different messages, there might be something to it?

This wiki page that was posted before about SETI mentions a Wow! signal that was detected in 1977. Its wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wow!_signal mentions the resonant frequency of hydrogen as 1420.406 MHz. Could this have something to do with what was written on the i-beam in the Super 8 trailer? Maybe what's written there is i 2 1420.64. I'm not sure about the rest, but the third symbol on could definitely be 1420...
