Miles/Kilometers = Golden Ratio, too ...

Another number that's close to 1.618 is the number of kilometers in a mile (1.609). Maybe we need to figure out what the mile maker in the trailer means in relation to the Golden Ratio?

The format was briefly revived by Lucasfilm in the 1970s for special effects work that required larger negative size (due to image degradation from the optical printing steps necessary to make multi-layer composites)

Which film format are you referring to above?

it doesn't, just a passing nobody trying to screw with everyone, it happens from time to time

Just because it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense at all.

This'll be of no help at all, I'm relatively certain. But I was reading a comic book by author Terry Moore (Strangers in Paradise). It's issue #11 of 'Echo'. Golden ratio! Just thought I'd share it.

Wow, that's a trippy comic. The gist of it is (the stuff involving the Golden Ratio, anyways) that base 10 mathematics doesn't work when getting into the nitty gritty of physics. Base 10 is this extremely old, arbitrary system created by 10 fingered cavemen. Works great in a general way... adding 1 apple to another apple... but not when dealing with subatomic materials. So someone comes up with the idea of using Phi as a base (Golden Ratio and all that). Suddenly everything opens up wide, and theories that didn't quite work before begin to fall into place like butter.
Fun comic, but again, probably of no use to material here. Although the explanation of the Golden Ratio and Phi is quite good. If you read one issue of Echo hunt down #19. Lots of stuff dealing with what I described in there.

Okay, I'll shut up about the stupid comic now. Wink

I hope I wasn't the only one that gets jitters hearing this soundbyte and knowing what it could mean..perhaps it may be like the famous sound from "Contact".

errr... besides the direct overlapping of the tone with phi http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/files/s8overlay.mp3 (okay, different synth tones used admitted, but i'm not that anal! If you still doubt flick back a few pages (20-23) and download the spectographs then overlay them)

The question is:

- We have the golden ratio (for certain); how does that help in clues past and present?? Numbers, sounds, related pictures, we need focused info:

Quote:
"Data, data, data. I cannot make breakthroughs without data."

- Sherlock Holmes (..yeah kinda, but quote holds despite east London origins)

I'm liking the previous number theory - any advances??? Been working on the pictures but nothing substantially new besides possible coincidental overlays between Rocket Popeteers and Super8 flashes (see attached incase anyone has an idea, NB/ Red line basically indicates line from finger to the common focal point)..........

.............insight anyone???????? Need something new....

I can't help but think we've been given a clutch of clues and we've only used/solved around 50% in a non-temporal order. Either they must relate or independently mean something. Trouble with the latter is "coincidental" relations between images............

We'll need to exercise some patience along with our imaginations. Of course we've been given clues which seem incomplete to us, which offer tantalizing but sketchy connections to a whole world of possibly related data and theories. It wouldn't surprise me at all if some of these clues and game elements won't pay off for months.

This film is a YEAR away from release, so they're not going to give us all the answers right away. We *should* have to work to play the ARG, and part of that is being investigative without wasting lots of energy spinning our wheels and wondering why oh why don't we have all the answers yet.

The fun has only begun! Long drive ahead, so asking "are we there yet?" every five minutes just gets on the driver's nerves. Very Happy

True Cool

I told you to go before the trailer was released! Very Happy

No argument there, Multi, as long as it's conversation and not self-distracting impatience, that's all I'm suggesting. Impatience that will only grow as we get deeper into the game while months away from finishing it.
