You'd need a "de-vocoder" though. And you'd need to know the carrier-signal.

Well if we can figure out a way to "de-vocode", I think the carrier signal is likely the golden record tones. Is there a downloadedable version of the golden record out there?

I must have missed something here. What exactly do you want to de-vocode?
Ohh, never mind. Got you.

After a little more research, I don't think the golden ratio was actually recorded on the golden record at all. I guess the carrier signal could be created. There is that site that we used to recreate the tones...it sounds like a stretch but maybe use that?

Interesting. I have been looking for anything that shows it was on the record and couldnt verify it either.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contents_of_the_Voyager_Golden_Record

for the contents of the golden record. I'm not sure exactly how the Golden Record came into the discussion. It may just be that the word "golden" is in it...and t contained a message for extra terrestrials.

I went hunting down the source of this misinformation. This is the earliest post I can find mentioning it:

Saiyan King wrote:
This is one of the things ive been thinking since the golden ratio theory was first presented. as mentioned earlier, the golden ratio was sent into space on Voyager,

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=710670#710670

He claims it was "mentioned earlier" but unless someone edited it out of their post this is not the case. On the next page a guest calls it "sagan's theory" I'm guessing though that was a misreading of Saiyan's name.

Most likely Saiyan really did think someone else had said that, it appears this was simply an accidental case of misinformation. As opposed to the rampant, and blatant, misinformation going on constantly here. I really, really wish there was a block user function on this forum...

I think the Sagan mix up is because Carl Sagan worked on the golden record. So perhaps thats where Sagans theory popped up from. I also wondered where the golden record was mentioned but thoyght i had missed something.Glad you looked into this.

Signwave on Super 8 Website?
Added when Braegen14 was added!

I don't see anyone has mentioned this:
On the Super8 Website, a Signwave appears just as the trailer pops up!

Also, has anyone played with the "lyric?"
Success . Success . Suc . cess . cess . cess

Not sure what will come out of it, but it's a shot.

It's been mentioned, no one's figured out what it means. I have by playing around with the hide/show video buttons seen it move slightly off center (up and left) but other than that nothing.

Sorry, this was already discovered and discussed here:

Through a few tests, it's been pretty decisively concluded that its just a loading/buffering indicator.

ETA: That was also posted May 25, long before the Braegen14 file appeared.

Sorry ... I've been keeping my reading (on here) to about four or five threads - there's so many it gets mind boggling!
I also tried to use the search feature.

I shall flounder myself.
