[Trailhead] Skeleton Creek Investigations
Looks like episode #2 of this

Okay so, looks like Skeleton Creek is rolling with another installment. Sorry for the wiki, but I noticed that this hadn't been posted to uF yet, and lots of posts on facebook have gone down on this. The following is my breakdown from reading hundreds of posts and comments and this is probably not complete as facebook can get very confusing to follow as many of the Users at the fb site don't know what the hell is going on and decide to write that, -thus adding hundreds of extraneous comments to the "story" that is unfolding there. So without further ado:

Trailhead: http://skeletoncreekinvestigations.com/
Leads to: http://www.facebook.com/skeletoncreek
Sarah Fincher's site from the 1st ARG & used below in this one as well: http://sarahfincher.com/

Original Skeleton Creek #1 uF thread for refs HERE.

Timeline

Jan-11: Ryan McCray activates a Facebook account & creates his 1st post for a group titled "Skeleton Creek Investigations" at: www.facebook.com/skeletoncreek. Ryan also posts Video #1 on the fb Videos tab (this vid is a rehash of stuff that happened in Skelton Creek #1). Note: The player base responds to the post with typical "looks cool, Im here for you Ryan" -type stuff and Ryan follows that up by posting more pics/sites from the original Skeleton Creek #1 ARG etc.
SCI McCray Jan-11 wrote:
Hey everyone, this is Ryan. I know the video might not have given you enough information to totally know what is going on. Things are getting pretty intense. I'm not totally ready to talk about it. I keep going back over things...not everything makes sense right now. I'll keep posting when I have more information, so stay in touch.

Jan-12: Ryan drops a post requesting people to talk about the events from SC (basically prompting the players to post discussion topics & ask questions to him through the fb discussion tab).
Jan-13: Ryan posts the following to basically state that he thinks he is still being watched/followed by people. Note: Same player responses like "hmm you are being watched" & blah blah blah (then Ryan posts more pictures and content from the 1st SC ARG).
SCI McCray Jan-13 wrote:
Walking down the road yesterday, someone passed by and said "carpe diem, seize the day my friend!" How can I seize the day when I know that I'm being watched...

Jan-18: Ryan quotes a phrase from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Pit and the Pendulum." Note: This is typical SC fare as Poe is referenced heavily throughout Skeleton Creek/Ghost in the machine, SC#1 ARG etc. A player id's the phrase and Ryan supports that by stating the following coords on Jan-19: 42°26'01N 123°03'16W
Note: The coords point to Gold Hill, Oregon. Specifically in the vicinity of some anomalous activity at the following: Oregon Vortex
. Ryan then confirms this is correct by posting
SCI Jan-21 wrote:
You were right about the Vortex. Use it here http://pages.usherbrooke.ca/resscout/pdf/S-0-AffAvaut1.pdf
follow the little bird that tweets
Note: The above link opens to a numeric sub cipher key. Encrypt "vortex" to numeric & you find Ryan's Twitter account here: http://twitter.com/22151820524. The singular tweet there states
Ryan's Twitter wrote:
Well done, but the clues don't stop here. I have to be careful because people are watching. I must go to my happyplace. Use it at her site
Ryan is referencing Sarah Fincher's site from SC1, telling us to input the pw "happyplace" here: http://sarahfincher.com/ Note: The vid is a rehash of SC1 content with new commentary explaining that this video of Park Ranger Darrell Bonner was an anomaly that was never explained/solved during the course/events of the SC1 ARG. For reference here is the uF SC1 Archive.

Jan-27: Ryan posts the SC1 fan site (this is debatable if this is a "fan site" as the "character" that is the admin seems way to close to what is going on with this story. Suffice to say, the site is cool and all the videos outline almost the whole progression of the investigation and where it left on at the end of the SC1 ARG.
SCI Jan-27 wrote:
Some people think they know my whole story, some are close to the truth...http://www.skeletoncreekisreal.com/

Feb-1: Ryan attempts to recruit more people to the investigation. On Feb-3 he does much of the same by dropping a clue that leads to inputting this pw at Sarahfincher.com: foolsgold
Feb-5: Ryan posts a string of binary on the Discussion board topic "Dont be afraid to discuss things..." -That decrypts to the following
Dont be afraid to discuss things decrypt wrote:
I've hidden my journal, people were after it, I hope you can find it before it falls into the wrong hands. 34 42 27 N 86 35 22 W. Go to the Gallery. Ask someone that works there for ryan's journal. They'll know what it means. Good luck.
So then the players connect the coords to this place:
Coordinate location wrote:
Book Gallery
2801 Memorial Parkway Southwest
Huntsville, AL 35801-6502
(256) 288-0012

The number is called & the drop is confirmed. Then player (Max) rolls out to the place and picks up the following journal at the dead drop: JOURNAL PIC. Note: The quote in the journal is from the book Frankenstein (Mary Shelley), and each page contains a letter on the bottom right corner. The compiled letters are: DSPTTCPOFT

- So ROT 25=CROSSBONES Note: Crossbones is the secret society from the books and the SC1 ARG. -At this point the players think that based on player locations (you supply your location on fb threads), the PM is dead dropping clues/journals. This seems to be ongoing & makes sense as this same type of drop scenario was seen in SC1 as well. Based on that, it is advisable to add your name to this thread and or peruse the fb posts for more threads like this: PLAYER LOCATION THREAD.

As investigators, show me that you can collect and document evidence. Take a picture pointing down at the shoes you are wearing and send it to me by going to http://skeletoncreekinvestigations.com/upload/ . If I get 100 pics, I will post them here at SCI.
Note: Players start uploading pics of their shoes & Ryan starts posting them to fb.

Look at this stranger, hiding out yonder, and watching and waiting! What's he waiting for? What does it mean?

Feb-16: Video #5 is posted. -This is a rehash vid of Ranger Darrell Bonner from SC1 with new commentary. Note: Both this post, the previous Feb-15 post, & the above stated Jan -18 post, (I believe) reference this dude as hiding something. I tend to believe this as I think he is shady, partially due to my following statement from the original unfiction SC1 ARG ARCHIVE:

At Sarah Fincher Set your clock to any time with the mins at 42 and you will get 2 eggs. Click the window egg & you get a vid. -I ripped the vid and manipulating the first couple of frames (black frames) you can see a mans face. I took that face and compared it to the face of the Ranger (Darrel Bonner) from the "henryjames" video -pulled from sarahfincer.com SIDE BY SIDE OF BOTH SCREEN CAPS.

Feb-16 through Feb-19: So around this time all the photos of the player's shoes are uploaded and Ryan posts them to the photo album titled SHOES. The pics have semi-hidden letters (in sequence) that spell out:
Shoe Message wrote:
Sarah left something, follow your nose to the rose city fringe
Note: leads to this place
Shoe Solve wrote:
Fringe Vintage
1700 Northwest Marshall Street, Portland, OR 97209 - (503) 227-5630.

Feb-18:
Player "Sierra" calls the store and is told that "Sarah F." left some shoes there. Player "Ethan" uses that info to go to the store and retrieve the drop. Ref Pics of the DD: MESSAGE & SHOES.
Sarah's shoe/Message dead drop at Fringe Vintage wrote:
Nice job
to whoever found this note and my shoes. I thought that the best place for them would be a hiding place in plain sight, and what better place than a vintage store full of shoes?! I need you to pass this message along to Ryan and to everyone at SCI. I've been following what Ryan is doing at SCI. He's going to need all of our help soon enough. Take a picture of this note and the shoes and send them to Ryan through the SCI upload link. He will need them as proof that it really was me who left the note with my shoes.
Players act on the above instructions and this is confirmed by Ryan with:
SCI Feb-22 wrote:
I posted a picture of the note that Sarah wrote and the shoes she left at the vintage store in Portland. Nice job on finding those and working together...I hope this means that she's alright.

Feb-24: Note: On Mar-1 & Based on the following Feb-24 post, Ryan creates another photo album titled "Sarah's left-behind photos" HERE. Note: I have not looked at or inspected any of these pics yet.
SCI Feb-24 wrote:
I was digging through some of Sarah's junk that she left behind, and I found some photos she must have taken. Some are from around town, and a few she must have taken from inside the dredge.

Mar-1 (2nd post): Based on the following quote, Ryan also created a new photo album with a pic of a word puzzle HERE. Note: I have not looked at the puzzle at all, but heres the DISCUSSION THREAD about it.
SCI Mar-1 2:51pm wrote:
This picture is worth 60 words

Mar-5: Ryan starts a new thread asking for investigators/players to post their locations in the comments (again).
Mar-8: Ryan states
SCI Mar-8 post wrote:
A friend of a friend told me about some pretty far-fetched things that had been happening in Salem, OR and he wanted me to help get the word out. http://13dtm.com/
And that last link is a blatant hint to the following (ARG) written & / or produced by the same Studio & Author of Skeleton Creek (Patrick Carman of PCStudios). I started a new uF thread HERE for that project as from what I can tell, that is a different ARG.

- Okay so that ends my book on this. Again, sorry for writing a freakin wiki as the opening thread Rolling Eyes, but I dont think this has been posted yet and I wanted you to be aware.

Just finished Skeleton Creek earlier today, and ran out to the bookstore to pick up Ghost in the Machine -- after I get through that (and figure my way through the ancillary material I know I missed) I'm so in.

Jumped a good 2 feet during the second video from the first book.

Bumping this conversation because things are heating up on the Skeleton Creek Investigations Facebook page. Ryan has been posting morse code messages and sending postcards to the first ten people to solve the puzzle hidden within. The most recent one reads:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Most Haunted Place in All of Texas, Beware the Mirror

Apparently I got the message in on time for the last round, because I received a postcard in the mail with a picture of the dredge from the books with the following message, which is supposedly a hint to the location of the next book:

Quote:
Greetings from Skeleton Creek!

You've done well to follow the clues and find the location. Where will the next location be? Find a haunted ship used as a hotel, you'll be getting closer.

-Ryan

That seems to be referring to
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach, California

In for round two.

As an update: I'm still waiting for what the "They Know" message was about in the SC1 dead drops.

EDIT:

On a side not, Psyops! Good to see you, and thanks for posting this, I would have missed it otherwise.
