When it comes to the topic of Not What You Might Think or at least going outside of the strict kids-encounter-aliens idea:
Back when folks first started posting about Super 8 on IMDB, somebody posted something about their take on the story, which I found interesting. I messaged them as to if they had seen a script, but got no reply. This is their post from over at IMDB:
Get your story turned into a screenplay, and pay the screenwriter only after a producer buys it from you. What do you have to lose?
Here's my take on Super 8:
Guy in the Air Force gets assigned to Security at Area 51. Takes his job seriously but can't resist the "off limits" area of the base. He finds an old guy who will take him out to the site of a wrecked underground hangar and learns the story of the early days of genetic work on alien DNA. Thirty years of work produced millions of failures, and one success. Someone had the idea to take the blood from insects fossilized in amber, and look for alien DNA. (Yes, in Jurassic Park they reconstituted dinosaurs in the same way.) Alien lands on earth, mosquito sucks it's blood, fossilized Alien DNA awaits our genetic tinkering.
Let's just say they didn't combine it with Frog DNA.
Air Force Sercurity guy and the old timer go back to base and read about what happened when it got loose, and why they closed that part of the base.
Because the thing is still there.
Air Force Security guy happens to be the guy who knows what the thing wants, and knows the old timer has it... and that's why he was assigned to that post. He's been playing the old timer all along, to get him to trust him, and spill the beans. Old timer pulls out a forty year old film reel, shot on super 8 film... well, you don't want to know the ending...
Ask me to read my synopsis for "Echo-Tango". Good stuff, buddy boy.
Spons"

Ok, so here we go…will do my best to explain what is in my head…not everything, but at least it will give you a general idea.
From revelation 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go into destruction. Those who dwell on the earth and whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see that the beast was, and is not, and shall be present.
17:9 Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.
17:10 They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must continue a little while.
17:11 The beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes to destruction.
Now most of this is unimportant until we either get more information via another trailer, more clues etc…so right now I'm just focusing on the 8th beast.
Basically how I think it is…from a biblical perspective the man driving the truck had, for whatever reason been told to stop the train via whatever means necessary. Thinking about it some more, I don't think the driver knew what was in the train at all, or meant to kill the creature inside. (if he wanted to release it, why not just hijack the train?)
But instead of his plan working, the creature is instead loosed and basically from there all hell breaks loose…literally.
seems far-fetched until you remember the end of 'LOST' with all of the religious symbolism.

not a fan of lost but see your point since i watched the last episode
so what i could see taking from your theory is perhaps the truck driver who is a religious nut wrecks the train to kill creature to save the world from hell on earth i could go with that but i myself dont think or expect the film to have a religious overtone but i could see a small fraction being to show the truck driver as a bible nut doing what he thinks is best
but in any case you worded and shared your thoughts just fine and was much better then cryptic poem keep it going as you say we wont know either way till more info releases

yeah.....thats kinda what i was thinking...........the guy in the truck hits the train for some reason or another.......causes the train derailment.......and then the thing gets loose and runs amuck........and your right........when more information is released, we'll have a better picture of whats going on..... ......maybe they'll tell us why the chicken really intended to cross the road.......my dearest apologies for the sarcasm.....

i just think being a huge horror and sci fi fan that both have been destroyed as of the past couple years esp horror everything is pg-13 now like the ring and crap so a good R rated horror or nice sci fi with great story not just sfx would be nice and if this is a really good original alien/ufo film i would be pleased

I'm not sure about this one. I mean, I get the symbolism and all but I don't see how that would be the main focus of the movie. I could be wildly wrong.
JJ seems pretty serious about not revealing the plot. He said he would let the images speak for themselves. I personally am going to stick more to what I know as I try to figure things out. I don't think the puppetmasters would give us a few bread crumbs and expect us to find the rest of the way out of the woods. The crumbs may be far between, but enough to do the job and all in a definite direction.
This does not mean, however, that I won't follow the speculation of others. At the very least it is interesting to see what other people come up with. It might also get me thinking in a different direction where things line up better.
Side note: I don't mean to be a prick, but comadarkvale, would it kill you to use some punctuation? I find it hard to read your longer posts and when I try my head does them in the style of the English voice-over for Speed Racer....

Haha ok. I had to read that post a few times as well. At first I thought you said; "don't think your prick most of the time" then I realized it was "don't think your prick. most of the time...." I see now that you use double spaces to separate thoughts. I just find it impossible to read that way! haha!
