How many people search through their system32 file enough to notice when a new folder has been added

Oh, Noah. Get some friggin' antivirus software already. Rolling Eyes Laughing

But really, who gives viruses or Trojans such obvious names these days? Usually it's some random alphanumeric jumble. More likely this was an amateurish directed infiltration and whoever did so didn't expect Noah to go looking through his root folders.

Oh, keylog.exe, kernelmole.dll, strokegen.dat sound completely harmless... Confused

Well, we're talking about a person who's been hacked before and is expecting to find tracking shit in his computer.

i take it the file names aren't harmless? i'm not well-versed in virus file names.

It's not that the names are harmful, it's just that they're blatant descriptors of bad things.
"keylog" = keylogger
"strokegen" = (key)stroke generator
"kernelmole" = kernel mole (program designed to "tunnel" into the kernel, or OS)

It's like finding that someone's stashed a bunch of green jars in your car and they're all labeled "zombie plague". It's not likely that they're someone's supply of Gatorade.

I think it was a data transfer protocol. It must have been how that "ONE WAY" picture got on my desktop. I managed to nab some screen shots.

Aww, look at that. One of the files is smiling at us. =)

But yeah, there would be those alphanumeric jumbles I was talking about. Odds are good this is from our buddy Observer.

Also, Noah, ol' pal, ol' chum, unless you have multiple computers that you share files between, kill off the Homegroup.

Nicely done. And plays well on modern fears. I remember when I found a keylogger on my old computer.

Goddamn, this is all creepy. I love though how in the popup window the "No" is greyed out so he has to click "Yes". Nice touch, and quite creepy.
