Ugh. I hate to say this, but at this point I kind of wish Tribe Twelve would just end rather than dragging on and on like this. The momentum's just gone, and when the momentum's gone the interest of the audience (and often, in my experience, the author) goes with it. Sad

It really bums me out. I was very into it for a while. Noah did a fantastic job creating an atmosphere and a story. I kind of got turned off with the Thanksgiving vids, especially the business with the blood and knife and such, as well as the whole thing about staying with a viewer, it ruined the immersion for me a bit.

Don't get me wrong, I really like what he is done, but i facepalmed a bit with last nights Twitter feed.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but i agree with Awakeasaurusrex.

I'm trying to gauge how to address this for myself.

What I will say is I think TT had to jump a number of hurdles - particularly at the beginning which I thought was dodgy, and then the massive gap over the holidays - and has managed to survive. Yeah, the production schedule is a bit of a running gag now, but I really can't give any vlogger shit about that given that virtually every one I have come across is a student of some sort. When I was still a student I would never have found the time or the drive to do half this shit, or to do it nearly as well as the big 3. I'm pretty low on tolerance for the vlogs I don't care for which shall remain nameless, but I think TT has endured despite the staggered schedule and hiccups because the quality is up there and the force of personality behind it is so present, so to speak.

I did think the twitter meltdown was a bit goofy because I always have a hard time picturing RL people who are running from SM finding the time to stop and tweet "ohgodohman," etc. and such over and over. But I guess that's a sign of our times. I'm sure someone will someday write a paper about what that interlude signified about our symbiotic relationship with our new media, that Noah felt compelled to stop during his flight from eldritch death to tweet every couple minutes. It's all a post-modern commentary!

Anyway, I still like TT a lot. It's not perfect, and sometimes I think it has hurtled too fast towards very few options left for Noah for a game that supposedly wants to go on for awhile. But when it does update it's generally class.

It's called a rising build up. Deal with it. So many crybabies. Rolling Eyes

In b4 they release an awesome video and prove all of you wrong. Cool

I think it's hilarious how many double standards there are in this forum. If there's too long of a wait, people complain about the creators being lazy, if there's too short, people complain that the creators aren't working hard enough. It's like that one month waiting period MarbleHornets has set is the definite standard. So what if Noah is updating Twitter? At least TribeTwelve IS updating SOMETHING, unlike some... *cough*EMH&MH*cough*

Anywho, I did enjoyed the twitter updates, even though they were kind of funny with the caps and all. It makes sense so; it was for suspense, and I understand that. People here really take TT for granted, due to lack of patience.

I'm thinking its much more likely we're going to get another Observer-type black and white video with SPLENDID aftereffects first, if something gets posted soon. Otherwise we'll get a tweet and then we'll wait for a video for WEEKS.

^^THIS
Seem like a whole lot of harsh critiques come flying out over free creepypasta entertainment around here (ALL args included) ...I know everyone has a right to voice their opinion but damn.
Ya might enjoy the show more if you take a second and climb down off the high horses and chill out.

"You can't criticise free entertainment" is one of the most poisonous pieces of dumbfuckery floating around the scene.

Look, criticism is good. The unexamined life is not worth living, right? If you want to talk about double standards, let's look at the people bitching out folk with genuine concerns as to the direction and sustainability of the series - a series which NIMBUS HIMSELF ADMITS HAS BEEN IMPROVED BY THE CRITICISM IT'S RECEIVED. Gah.

Hey, Bartok: I fully accept that Nimbus's schedule doesn't allow him to update TT more frequently. But that's kind of the problem. You can't have a "rising build up" and all that crap unless you have actual pacing, and you can't establish pacing unless you're able to produce a certain minimum level of content. One major update per month just isn't regular enough because you can't sustain tension that long; the audience has already relaxed again before the next update, so all the effort gone into establishing rising tension is basically wasted.

This is a horror, story, right? PACING IS EVERYTHING IN HORROR. Absolutely everything. It's simply too important to ignore.

To be honest, if TT can't update more regularly than this I see only two ways it can go:
- Bring forward the end so that Nimbus can move on to another project in a format less dependent on pacing.
- Go a different route from the rising tension model. If each update is going to be rare, have each update be a seriously *MAJOR* update. Make sure really big events happen in each one, make sure each one answers at least a few of the ongoing mysteries, make sure each and every update actually *advances the plot* as opposed to being just "weird shit happens, Noah poops himself yet again". If we've got to wait, make it worth the wait.

This latest thing with the tweets is just frustrating beyond words because Nimbus teased us with the tweets in a way which made us all think we'd get a major update, and then the much-hyped return to Victor Park is narrated in a handful of tweets, some twitpics, and a promise of maybe a video next month, possibly. I just don't think, on it's current schedule, TT can afford to tease its audience like this. Right now, if the updates aren't actually enough to merit the wait, I'd rather he not updated at all.

Also Nimbus's increasing willingness to break immersion (see the I Troll You comic) makes me suspect he's started to simply not give a shit.

Aw, c'mon, it was funny.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have done it were an update not impending.

As I said on the TT Facebook group earlier tonight, maybe you're pissing him off to the point where he's intentionally delaying.

Yes, Nimbus is a massive troll. But he's still putting a fuckload of effort into this, and deserves the respect due for that effort.

I don't think TT is perfect and I understand the complaints about the delays. I went into some detail at the top of the page. But again, I think there's enough of a constant presence - and superiority in content - to make the whole thing work and last over some interminable delays.

I hate when people complain instead of analyzing a series like they really should be. Confused

You can't measure tension with time, that's all your opinion. Maybe Nimbus likes the project, so much, in fact, that he doesn't want to move on and is working really damn hard to get you content in between his real life schedule. And perhaps you know nothing about how much work goes into one of his videos or how long it takes to make one? Don't you realize that EMH and even MH are even worse when it comes to ANY form of update, and they don't have as many render intensive effects as TT? You gotta think about these things. And I don't think he's breaking immersion by posting that image, he's interacting with fans. Breaking immersion would be posting it as Noah on this thread out of game. Maybe you're just really butthurt because of the video drought from all three major series? Yeah, you're just really butthurt. Thanks for letting us all know about your angst. Because we REALLY want to hear about it. Neutral

This really isn't helping on either side.
