Seriously though, his new video is either going to be out later tonight, or tomorrow or Thursday, since he said before Friday, so very little waiting time left.

I just found something that kinda irritates me. It doesn't ruin the story but it kinda takes away from the creativity

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was just looking through the SA thread and found out that the German grandpa's TribeTwelve story is lifted directly from the thread. The post is by some guy named BooDoug187. Here's the link to the post: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3150591&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=7#post362065157 . Kudos for whoever actually transcribed it to German, and it's really great that he found someone who could recite it with a half decent accent (I wish it were more Schwabish, since he's supposed to be from Baden-Wuttenburg), but that kind of plagiarism pisses me off a bit.

Little bit angry about this, still gonna watch, but man that's awful.

This isn't a fresh discovery, we all pointed it out when the video first went up. And, for that matter, you don't know that it was plagiarism, permission could have been sought to re-use the story.

Frankly, we were all just happy because that sort of reference hadn't been made in any of the vlogs by that point.

I didn't know it was mentioned before. It's possible that he was given permission, but I still don't feel comfortable with there being no credit given even in a subtle nod. Maybe something like and acknowledgment that "after researching I found another incidence of this report by another soldier in the OSS, maybe my Grandpa isn't as crazy as I thought he was" or something. I think it just irritates me because it's almost a word for word rip of the story.

I dunno, I might just be anal about this sort of thing after signing the honor code 50+ times for exams. As I said, I still think the series is great, I just get annoyed that there's a loss of atmosphere and creativity.

Honestly, most people seem to think "the more references to the original SA thread, the better". Slender Man has almost become a different entity from the one originally talked about in those threads in a way, what with the additions to the mythos by Marble Hornets, EMH, etc... not to mention his apparent decision to mainly stalk college students with cameras rather than children. I think it's sort of cool that TT used something from the original mythos like that, but I guess that's all just opinion.

There's also not a really good in game way to give credit to the creator of the story. When the series is all said and done, or if it ends up being broken up into several parts like MH, than acknowledgement could be given in a credit sequence, but until then it'd feel awkward anyway they tried going about it.

What about "I don't speak German so my friend Doug translated it for me" *wink wink* *nudge nudge*. I can think of a few subtle ways to give a nod to those "In the know", but I can definitely appreciate the nod to to original thread as what it is, but I feel he could have expanded it or reworded it in some way to give it more of a original taste.

Trust me, this isn't the biggest problem for me. I love the series and the use is neat. Actually, my biggest problem with the video itself was the German speech. As someone who spent a while in Baden-Wuerttemburg the accent drove me nuts. Also, Germans don't speak that slow. Even old Germans speak like cannon fire.

This particular German might speak that slow. Sweeping statements about whole nationalities very rarely hold any water.

Giving credit to Something Awful is all they need to do, since they are a collective forum. And I think it's great they they used the story, they are expanding upon it and giving it life.

True as that may be, I never met a German in Germany that spoke slowly. I always had to ask them to slow down. They even spoke English stupid fast. But I digress.

TL;DR for all my posts : Love the series, just that episode ruffled me a bit.
