True as that may be, I never met a German in Germany that spoke slowly. I always had to ask them to slow down. They even spoke English stupid fast. But I digress.

Karl is an American German, plus he's old. This takes a toll on his language. His age, plus his exposure to English (since he can't speak it, apparently), and his senility / dementia. You're analyzing him too hard. He's an old man for God's sake, give him a break. Confused

 		Okay, Okay. For the sake of character I will concede. He's a decent actor in any case. It didn't sound like a recitation which is a big plus. I understand the necessity of making him from Baden-Wuerttemburg with the whole Black Forest canon and the accent is really weird with the whole Swiss thing.

As for the in game part, I would consider him pretty lucid. Less demented, more tormented. Being haunted by visions of Slender Man for 60+ years takes its toll. Especially when he follows you and your family across the sea.

Of course, we now know that this something is the Nazi diary. But if I'm reading this right, the Nazi diary somehow protects Karl. That's quite interesting, and leads to some intriguing questions.

1. If Noah gets the Nazi diary, will it protect him too?
2. Maybe they're not really interested in Noah, they're just using him to get Karl? Maybe they weren't really interested in Mary Asher or Milo either?

In any case, Noah seems to be more than willing to, again, do exactly what the Observer wants him to do. Frankly, I think he comes off as a bit of a moron.
