Right-o. Pretentious post warning. Your only warning.

I had hoped he would go for Slendy On A Plane. Sure enough, he did and it was impeccably done. I have to assume they inserted a guy in post because that shit will not fly (lawl) on air transit. The post-production screams weren't too fake, either. Little fake, but not too fake as to not enjoy it or not be creeped out. Also really, really, really liked the (probably) subtle post-work of the barely-heard child asking his dad who the "man" was.

TribeTwelve is consistently the most advanced series in terms of production values and sheer cinematic innovation, which always more than makes up for its staggered schedule, at least for me. The mood and the grace of the cuts throughout the long journey across the Eastern seaboard is very well-measured. He does it just right and the V.O. of his narration is never too much. I appreciated the familiar landmarks here in New York. Even little visual touches which are probably largely inadvertent, like Noah's mirror-shades reflecting the winding railroad, or the skyline at night from the plane, are gorgeous and haunting. Also lovely: The probably unintentional but supercool homage to Lars Von Trier's Antichrist, in the subliminal shot of the figure and the hand as the sunlight hits the LIRR train window. Look at the traveling shots at the beginning of that film and you'll see what I mean. Also subtly unnerving, without drawing too much attention to it - Noah obsessively filming his own reflection, walking sideways to shoot as he travels down the glass-walled corridor. Plus, of course, we finally get to see him do the Rashomon thing with EMH and show his staredown with Slendy outside the station.

More than perhaps any other of the post-MH series, TribeTwelve readily lends itself to DVD release (though I would still fiercely argue for an EMH package, as well), simply because the fluidity of the way it cuts for narrative and keeps things pacey while also effectively moody reminds me of a ton of other, solid mainstream "found footage" works - everything from Catfish to The Last Exorcism to even [REC] or Atrocious. It's made for a long-form release or screening, and it's still very strong.

Good thing Jeff's Beatles shirt had another iteration.

ETA: Okay, that first subliminal shot on the plane I did NOT see. The Observer symbol on all the TVs is Cronenberg-ian brilliance. Fuck everyone.

He came up to New York to visit his parent and was visiting Uncle Karl and the Everyman Hybrid crew while he was in the area because he had questions for both.

So that would be where he stayed, over his parents house.

I can't say I felt unnerved at any point during the video, but I thought it was very well done and deserving of praise. I think I was in the wrong mood to watch it. Normally I'm grumpy and indifferent after work. But, yeah, this video... is a game changer in terms of what can be done with this medium.

I may be the only person who thought the tentacles looked terrible though. Don't hurt me.

And very this.

Edit: Ok, admit it. Who else is going through the plane footage over and over again for a potential glimpse of The Observer?

That little girl speaking sent chills down my spine. At 1:20, off camera, listen closely. If you can't hear:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Daddy, who was that man?" "What man?" "The tall man."

Qaqa, I'm not seeing any observer symbols on the televisions.

The creator just posted on FB about how he pulled off the plane scene. It's truly fucking brilliant:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
For the plane scene in my most recent TribeTwelve video "Northern Trip Footage", you guys have no idea how long I had to get the actor to stand there on the plane and get the passengers to scream like that. It held up the flight for a bit, but I eventually got the shot.
And, after seeing that
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
people thought he was serious

That's actually interesting because I thought

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
he actually made them delay a flight, flicker the lights on and off a bit and scream to get the right effect for his video.

I think my theory is panning out here. Karl just might be the reason this is happening. Shit.

Guys, there was more than just a hand on the glass...

Messing with the contrast and brightness revealed a head and another hand. Shocked

I'm fairly immune to being scared by Slender Man himself at this point, so the plane scene (while awesome) wasn't too scary for me, but the little girl asking her dad afterwards SERIOUSLY freaked me out. Amazing work.
