20, I understand where your coming from, but it's pretty harmless what Adam is doing. Leave this for the mods, okay?

I don't particularly like $20, but no matter how harmless it is, he's right: it's still against the rules. Hopefully the mods will enforce them, and Adam will recover from his unfortunate bout of keyboard diarrhea.

Just wondering, why is it against the rules? I'd like an explanation.

You'll have to address that to the mods, I'm afraid. All I know is that it's the second one on the list. (oops, my bad! learn to count, Lui!)

The rule was put in place because in the past when an ARG was stalled due to an audience that couldn't figure something out, a puzzle, or a next step, a PM (creator) could sneak in with a sock puppet account and nudge the players. Or if an ARG was not popular a PM could post and inflate the post count on a series. Long before Slender Man was even created Space Bass and the other admins here put rules in place to prevent those things from happening and to make this a place where players could make discoveries and game advances on their own.

The rule stands. It is enforced, even in "innocent" cases like this, because letting a small infraction pass makes it harder to enforce the big infractions because people think they have precedent.

Nimbus, seriously? Cut it out.

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU TO STOP TRYING TO DO MY JOB? If you see something that you feel like I haven't seen, that needs to be addressed, message me. PRIVATELY. STOP TRYING TO MOD.

And finally... Nimbus. Stop. It's already a slippery slope and I don't need you greasing it any further. Stay out of your own threads please.

Nimbus isn't trying to clear up a stalled plot point, nor is he sockpuppeting. And I don't think anyone here can argue with a straight face that TribeTwelve is so unpopular that it really needs the bunp from Nimbus' posts.

I can see wanting to enforce the rules, but... perhaps it would be better to bring the rules a bit more in line with the rationale for them? Allowing the creators to horse around with the fans is fun and important; I don't really see a reason to stifle it, especially in such a harmless case.

Those were examples, not the ONLY reasons that a creator shouldn't post.

I did not make the rules, but I will enforce them. Creators are not allowed to post in threads discussing their own series. Period. End of story. There are several other outlets (including other threads here) where he, and other creators, are free to "horse around" with the fans.

I really don't want to debate this. It is what it is. Take it up with Space Bass or someone above me, but I am fairly certain you'll get the same answers I am giving you.

It is important. They're free to post in other threads, or even strike up a conversation in our OOG thread. But it's important that the actual game threads remain firmly free of direct intervention by the characters. It preserves immersion and prevents sock puppet monkeying, as Atom said.

The problem is that Nimbus is a troll of the highest magnitude, whose made numerous incursions (and gotten into fights with people in the thread in the past). I love me some Nimbus, but until the game's over he has to stay away. We must erect a "No Fun" sign over the thread to keep him at bay, clearly.

THIS IS WHY WE CANT HAVE NICE THINGS ADAM!

But guys really, the rules are in place for a reason. I dont always agree with them but we should respect the mods decisions.
And maybe a new thread should be created. Not neccsailry a "Nimbus Appreciation Thread" but a OOG and OT thread that the creators would be allowed to post on. Would that be against the rules COA?

Oh god. I didn't really need to be reminded of that.
I guess history really is doomed to repeat its self.
