I think TT would benefit from using some alternative media too. Formspring was interesting when Noah was 'taken', and I think that kind of supplementary coverage could work during the wait between videos

The comic book analogy is interesting, but I think flawed in that comic books and youtube 'series' obviously span different kinds of media. For me, trying to stay interested in a series that has long breaks between videos and no other interaction is hard, given that other stories in the same 'universe' will either have more frequent videos (the ones I am interested in anyway) or will have some sort of alternative media to keep things rolling along.

Even a tweet or two perhaps regarding some interesting background info we don't know about Karl, the observer, or whatever else would be good.

Try coming to the world of comics where a month wait is typical for the BIG guys, and a 3 to 6 month wait is not at all unheard of for the independent guys. One of my favorites (Castle Waiting) just published issue 17... 3 YEARS after issue 16. Waiting a couple months... no big deal.

LOL, what comics are those? That doesn't sound profitable or appealing.

Tribe Twelve sucked me back in with the Collective. But it IS a long wait between updates.

Well... Marvel and DC (the two publishers that most people are aware of) publish monthly, with a few exceptions like Spider-Man that is published 24 times a year and X-Force that is 18 times a year, etc. but those are rare.

But independent publishers (the equivalent to higher quality YouTube creators) are often all over the place in terms of schedules. Take for instance "Mouse Guard," which is a very highly regarded and critically acclaimed series... issue 1 was released Dec 2010, #2 came out Feb 2011, #3 was Dec 2011, and #4 was in March 2012. And people PAY for those!

How do you deal with tv series that go on breaks from November to February? Or things like Breaking Bad or Mad Men that sometimes have a year or two between seasons? I realize you get bigger chunks of info at a time from TV series than from a 10 minute YouTube episode, but still... think of it like that.

I don't really have anything to add series-wise, but just wanted to say Castle Waiting is utterly charming. I was so happy to find the second collected hardback at the store a few months ago.

Wait wait wait... Mouse Guard has up to 200 pages per "issue". That's more like a graphic novel series, and people are generally more forgiving when they receive a lot of content per release. At least, I am.

You pick the one non-NJ-based piece to attach Kevin Smith to?

Another great example was the manga series Vagabond. After 21 books, the author wrote an epilogue and went on hiatus for nearly 5 years before returning unannounced.

I just wanted to mention we've officially hit the pot page. Good on ya, Noah, stay groovy. Although the paranoia might explain a lot...

You are thinking of the collected volumes. It is released as six 30 page "pamphlet" issues before it is collected in a big book. I'm specifically talking volume 3 "The Black Axe."

The series will be over long before this debacle is finished.

new tweet

Been trying hard to forget about what has happened since the beginning, but I just can't escape it. It's been the only thing on my mind

Make that two tweets.

Every single thing reminds me of the ongoing mysteries. Making the recap video might help me cope with this after all. I'll get on that now.

Ok, so for the past couple of days I've been trying to figure out who Mr. Scars is and I'm too lazy to go back through 20+ pages on the thread to see if anyone has figured it out, so I'm just gonna give you my theory:

At first I went through any characters in TribeTwelve, which honestly isn't a big pool to choose from, and I couldn't think of anyone who fit the description. Plus, there's not many people in the series that Noah knows that Mary Asher doesn't, so I ruled out anyone in TribeTwelve.

Then I remembered that EverymanHybrid is supposed to be in the same universe. I tried to think of anyone that could be in EverymanHybrid who fit the description. Then it hit me: The Rake. The Rake is described by Evan and Alex as a skinny white thing with claws, black eyes, and covered in scars. Also, Dr. C and Mary seem to lump Slendy, The Rake, The Observer, etc. together as if they are a sort of coalition.

I know it's sort of a long shot, but it still makes sense. If this has already been discussed and we already know who Mr. Scars is, please tell me.

Swain

Sorry if somebody has already said this, but I think I know what Swain's uniform is. I consulted an online friend who's something of a uniform hobbyist, and he says he believes the uniform is a Scots Guard uniform, like so:

This makes sense to me, because Swain is the white counterpart to Deadhead, who is an SS officer. If Swain is British, that works perfectly. Also his name and his theatre mask might be allusions to Shakespeare, who was, of course, British. Note that the buckle is consistent with Swain's buckle. I'm concerned that the spacing of the buttons isn't consistent, though.

Edit: Update, he could've been a Confederate States officer in the American Civil War. I haven't found what the full uniform looks like with the buckle yet, but a lot of the Civil War uniforms are very similar in style to the Scots Guard uniforms. Here's an image of a CS officer buckle:
