So the award for best SPIN-OFF goes to...
...

EVERYMAN HYBRID.

This is genuinely unsettling. Why?

a.) The concept is great and well executed.

b.) The contrast of funny scenes with a horror undertone genuinely scares me.

c.) It is VERY well made and seems to tie many strings together

d.) It feels "big". Many players, many scenes, all feels real and genuine.

I checked all the text blogs and also some of the other video series, and this is the one that is the most unsettling, innovative and scary.

I think TRIBETWELVE is also good, but this here show might give the original Slendercrew a run for their money. I hope S2 of Marble Hornets tops EH, but so far, this is my new fav.

(Maybe mash this in with the 'list of Slenderblogs' thread or the 'Everyman HYBRID' thread? The Unfiction forums tend to try to keep threads tidy. But starting new topics we're going against that tenet!)

D'oh. Sad

Anyhow, maybe this can be the thread where everybody highlights which is the best Spin-Off for them??

I prefer TribeTwelve, IMO. EverymanHYBRID is just...meh. The storyline is pretty lame, it seems like they are trying too hard.

I dunno, none of the spinoffs seem to scare me as much as MH, which is probably why I don't like them as much. EH is probably the most fun to watch, but it lacks that... "oh shit I'm never sleeping again" charm. Not srsbsns enough, maybe?

I'm sticking to MH for now. It's a spin-off of the SA-forums Slender Man creation, so it fits. I enjoyed the 'Seeking Truth' blog for a while, then lost interest, but am gaining that back again, if blogs count.

I haven't even started to watch Tribe Twelve. I don't want to be taken as a purist -- I'm definitely not trying to be a snob! -- but I think that I've had my fill of people filming themselves running away from Slendy. If Marble Hornets comes back I think I'll pick up watching them again because I enjoy the way that Troy and Joseph write (and I like Tim, both as a character and as some internet dude! XD I'd watch more of him being crazy and running around in a mask while freaking out Jay!) The rest have yet to snag me... probably because the spin-offs haven't engaged me the same way. Some show that they're clever, but Slender Man isn't enough in and of himself to draw me to new vlogs and blogs... I think that as a monster his design is kind of weak once you have gotten past the eerie other-ness of his face. It was the ambiguity and the suspense caused by Jay's updates that dragged me on to the Unfiction forums... aside from that I'm pretty much just being a noisome lurker until Part 2 shows up.

I'm gonna say Seeking Truth. I don't really know why, but yeah.

Maybe it's cause Zeke is such a fucking badass.

Really, I think we should wait until the side-stories are finished to judge, but so far Seeking Truth is the best blog while EvermanHYBRID is the best YouTube based series.

EverymanHYBRID, definitely. It's original compared to the others and while it's not as scary as MH, it's entertaining and has its creepy moments. I lost interest in blogs after JAF ended with no conclusion and alwayslookback got corny and subsequently tanked. With TribeTwelve, I spend too much time going "they copied THAT too?" to enjoy it. So, yep.

To be, mmhm, fair, most newbies tend to flick down the first page at least.

Anyway: favourite protagonist in a SlenderMan work? For his role, actions... go on, tell me. Perhaps the execution is spectacular, or he's just so darn [whatever], etcetera. Ah-ha.

Favorite protagonist? Zeke from Seeking Truth, definitely. He's just so badass, and calm despite being stalked by Slender Man and
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
having his partner/lover die.

Hell, he stares right back at SM and tells him to go fuck himself. If that isn't badass I don't know what is.

It could also be called being emotionally unavailable. Very Happy

He is the life of the parties he never attended. If he punched you in the face, you'd have to hold back the urge to thank him.

Something I have noticed with a lot of these ARGs and that personally bugs me a bit is that they all seem to use bible references.
Honestly, stuffing your game full of bible references does NOT automatically make it more "deep" or "symbolic", it feels more like trying to get a cheap
"GASP" out of it.
