I think that depends on how you write and where the symbolism shows up.

As a sidenote: Dray, here are some more links.

Bible references also have the clunkiness of having no meaning for those precious few of us who are not religulous. Better to construct your own symbols and meanings that are specific to the blog and to SM. Or even just taking your character's interpretations of bible references so that it's filtered through 'em. It makes no sense if nobody is particularly bible-bound in the game. SM doesn't seem like the right place to be dropping bible-blurbs.

Hmm.... *adds completely blatant religious references to list of things to put in parody Slederseries, right below pictures/videos with SM blatantly in view and not even mentioning/acknowledging his presence*

Something I have noticed with a lot of these ARGs and that personally bugs me a bit is that they all seem to use bible references.

As the good book says, "thou may stick it where the sun doth not shine." Dunno which good book says it, though. There's lots of good books on the market.

Symbology in SlenderARGs tends to be either clunky (the majority), or it just doesn't mean anything, when you get down to it (JAF/Yggdrasil). An interesting symbolic note is that (X) - which I can't get any references for - is something used in circuit diagrams to indicate a lightbulb (which is something I've repeatedly made note of). When does Slendy normally turn up? At night, ergo there is no light. So (X) is saying "keep the lightbulb turned on."

Furthermore, symbology is always problematic in regards to people who don't get it; you can have symbology of keys in doors if you wish ("some doors are better kept locked"), but it can always be a stretch, or mis-interpreted. I have a maxim in these instances: if it takes too many leaps of logic to arrive at a destination, you've probably got off after your stop. And Biblical references serve a dual purpouse: they both have "meaning," and most people get them¹.

That said, actually taking concepts from the bible? Fine in my book; as mentioned below, the Tower of Babil is a ready source of Slendy-origins ("...I've read theories that Spider-Freak was left upon us as a curse for daring to challenge God pffffft yeah right"), but I also take the view that symbology should be accidental, and if it's intended... it kinda defeats the vertice.

¹ - Most, not all. Most, ahem, "standard" educations include some measuring in the Bible, or so I heard; my education has contained little Biblical knowledge since primary school, hence why I always got confused by Tower of Babil references until I cited it as "little-known" to a group of people who had been made to read the Bible in their school. Urgh.

Haha, I was just skimming through Alchemyiswonderful.wordpress.com and I saw the notebook pictures.

One in particular caught my eye. A circle around a particular sum of money...

New Sidestorys:

Scared - http://ihavetorun.blogspot.com/ - the blogger's cousin is beginning to act uncommonly, and sends him strange emails

Lost time - http://lalberoesistafuoridatmpo.blogspot.com/ - A family writing about their feelings towards the loss of their son/brother.

A Project With Life On Life - http://disscussthefindings.blogspot.com/ - Four persons blogging/vlogging regularly, due to a "psychology-class-project"(-thingy)

Time Erases All But One - http://thehourglassrunsout.blogspot.com/ - A guy talking about his weird dreams and a man in a business suit... (Last entry was May 27, though)

I think... that's it for the moment.

IDK guys. I like Seeking Truth a lot, and Rainbow life is pretty good. I'll look at Scared for my friend, but I don't know where they're going to go with this.

It would also be really helpful if beside the blog links we also had links to the corresponding unfiction forum threads. That would really help interested parties navigate the forums and might cut down on repeat spam threads.

Awesome, you caught some that I had missed, thank you! Very Happy

If anybody notices that a blog/vlog/slender-thing has stopped posting for over a month that's in the active section, could you please poke me to move it? Sometimes I fall behind on these things and I don't make regular sweeps of the active threads to see if they're finished or have dropped off the radar. Other than that, if you would like to see anything added to the first thread, let me know!

You're welcome =)
It's a good excuse for not doing other things I should be doing right now Wink

And there might be a new candidate for the list:

My Name Is Zytherys
tumblr: http://zytherys.tumblr.com/
twitter: http://twitter.com/Zytherys
thread: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29806

I'm not sure if this really is a Slendy-related thing, but the journal and some camera distortions are pointing to that.
