[OT][HUMOUR] "Celebrity" Viral Followers

-- THIS PAGE HAS BEEN EDITED FOR ANY NEWCOMERS --

I came across this little ditty in this morning's paper!
(I was going to post it under the [HUMOR] Comics THREAD, but it seems a bit dead).

It appears that Francesco Marciuliano is following the viral for Super 8!
http://rasgold.blogspot.com/2010/06/rocket-pops.html

Who can spot other "celebrity" followers?
(if any)

Re: Sally Forth from 6/18 and Rocket Pops question
Hey, Vincent!

First, thank you for reading the trip! Second, you're not wasting my time at all.

As per your question, while I'm indeed a fan of J.J. Abrams (and love the "Super 8" teaser) I had no previous knowledge about the alternative reality game. I just really liked Rocket Pops as a kid. They say "childhood summer" to me.

Thanks for writing! Hope all is well.

you know.....rocket pops are actual popsicles...they've been around for a while now...and they're usually eaten during the summer......I don't see how this qualifies as him following this viral. I'm actually positive that it is just a coincidence.

I have not come across one Popsicle branded "Rocket Pop".

The closest I could find on the Internet (other than Rocket molds for your freezer) is the "Rakete" ...

What we called "Rockets" growing up, are actually Popsicle "Firecrackers"

Some people do, however, refer to these treats as "Rocket Pops" ... I will admit.

Yes ... It is a reminder of the beginning of Summer ... But, if you read the story (and clicked the 1/18/09 link), you would see how I meant this as possibly not being coincidental.

Took me less than a minute to find. You have to work on your Google skills... Razz

LOLOL!!

That's a "Candy Holder Toy!"
U.S. Patent Office wrote:
This invention is directed to a rocket pop which stores and presents a piece of hard candy for consumption by a consumer.

And the patent isn't held by the Popsicle™ Corp.

This comic wouldnt have been able to use a brand name in his strip anyways. Since they are known as "Rocket Pops" and there isnt a rocket pops brand then it seems to me that the most logical thing to call them is....

I'd agree that in the comic, ROCKET POPS is referring to a generic frozen treat that exist (merchandised molds) in numerous variations available at large.

Now if the comic made a reference to POPPETEERS specifically, then you'd have something. I see no evidence this is linked to the film or viral campaign at all given the summertime context of the panel.

"Celebrity" Viral Followers ...
Francesco Marciuliano and Tom Wilson have done this in the past!

No disrespect ... um ... O.K.

None taken ...

Did any of you read the article?
(Or, just click on the picture?)

I'm not asking you all to believe this ... I'm just asking if you can post some "other" celebrity followers ...

And why "Rocket Pops?"

As for Trademarked™ references ... I suggest you read the funnies more often ... The creators have artistic liberties under "satire."
