Crothers

My take is that these clues will be placed in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, once we witness the remaining videos, and have yet to see Crothers lose an arm, or even require a crutch.

He HAS lost his sleeves and his hat so far. That's all we have witnessed.

We also saw him lose his eye.

Too few?

Certainly not as many as they had hoped. Some people will view it more than once, though YouTube doesn't intentionally count these, I guess. I don't know if it counts a partial access and download as a view.

I don't do Facebook or Twitter myself, so I know that those are not complete numbers. But everyone hunting will view each video at least once, and if YouTube's numbers are anywhere close to right, and don't include multiple views significantly, that will be about right. Some people will join late, some people will drop off, of course. A fair number might have watched a video or two and haven't yet watched the most recent, but will watch them all when they are all out.

Back to Episode Three

Let's say you go into the subway at the silver coast of Africa. Then turn right, take "the right outcome"/exit back to "ground level", which takes you to the southernmost exit from the subway on Columbus Circle From there, the clues go:

>Crothers: Hmmm. Spectacles is like face glasses they is.

There's a Lenscrafters on the S/SE corner of Columbus Circle, right next to that subway exit.

>Ticker: HIM SAFELY TO GROUND LEVEL. DINKINS COMMENTED, "THEY'S MUCKED UP MY YARD AND I DIDN'T SAY THEY COULD HAVE NO COFFEE, BUT THEY DID!

Right next to Lenscrafters is a coffee place whose sign looks like "NO KAFE".

>Mulligan: Let me ask you a question Mr. King. You're in the television business. Why did they cancel that show Firefly? That was a good show that was.

There's a liquor store next. Firefly is a kind of liquor. I don't remember if t figured largely in the window display though.

>Captain: And three: Ya best mind the gap in yer face! King of the Larrys!

There's a Gap one block away from the Lenscrafters and No Kafe.

That sign says....

"AQ KAFE".... not "NO KAFE"

and I don't think following the ticker is what we should be doing...

The last video represents us traveling somehow, somewhere, to a distance of about 3 miles. I doubt think they expect us to walk.

The subway screams loudly in Episode 3, I feel.

Yeah, it's a bit thin. The way the sign is formatted makes it look a bit like "NO" http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=aq+kafe&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=24.73334,48.955078&ie=UTF8&hq=aq+kafe&hnear=&ll=40.767588,-73.981633&spn=0,0.000747&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=40.767375,-73.981694&panoid=_w3MVq25lnLv4tpioZ45qA&cbp=12,76.15,,2,4.97

I haven't seen the subway paths people have suggested using much of the videos at all, yet. We came to a quick agreement on the meanings of the first two videos; we're not quite there on the third. My approach is thin, I admit! Just trying a different approach.

Can anyone come up with a ports/docks/port of cortland interpretation that matches up?

more FT appreciation

Fellow Traveler deserves more praise. Sent him a pm direct, but think his efforts should definitely be appreciated at large. Love his provision of the reverse audio... i've been rocking out to it all morning! Kidding aside, big thanks (expecially from those of us who aren't as techie-savvy)

Really great community here with some fun ideas.. keep up the great work. yes, puzzles are getting a bit tougher (that's part of the fun)... perhaps this will help refresh and refocus...

Okay.... backtracking here.

So.... I just read that COLUMBUS CIRCLE is "The point at which all distances from NYC are measured".

Also? There is a COAT OF ARMS at the base of the Statue, PLUS? The statue is surrounded by a fountain of WATER CANNONS.

So... my take is that we are to measure roughly 28 furlongs from Columbus Circle on one of the Subway lines. Which direction? Beats me. What with Black Tom being reversed, and the directions on the Japanese Compass going from East to West to North to South? I have no idea which way to head. Also? Do we measure actual SUBWAY LINES, or do we just go from point to point? Unknown.

Coincidentally, there are FIVE lines that run out of Columbus Circle, but on first glance via Google, you only see FOUR.

furlongs

28 furlongs at first led me to thinking horse races...Aqueduct was suggested, and if you measure 28 furlongs or 3.5 miles as the crow flies from what many believe to be the last location from episode 3, you end up right in the middle of aqueduct. 28 furlongs is a liitle more than 5K (you've gone to far), and there are many 5k races held in Queens. Specifically the Forest Park 5k race which is in that same area...

Many believe?

I don't recall seeing a consensus.

I for one think the end of Episode 3 left us at Columbus Circle and on a specific train waiting for a destination and a direction.

What location is the general consensus at? And what solid proof do we have?

Also... although it would be GREAT, I doubt say we can come up with a solid NUMBERED list of clues yet, can we?

Apple vs Pickle

Apple vs. Pickle --> Apocalypto??

It has been on pay-per-view. It is certainly violent enough to outrage some people if not necessarily specifically "parents". There has already been one Apocalypto reference, sort of, actually a reference to the single-frame insertion of a shot of Gibson in the trailer for the movie. It was restricted viewing in Italy. Has anyone heard of it specifically being removed from pay per view anywhere?

Another possibility, with violent use of pickles and an apple, puppets, and also a burning fuse: The Muppet Show: Cowboy Time

I can't see how either of these leads to a clue we can use, unfortunately.

third episode
Lots of talking

Has anybody tried (or had any success) seperating the tracks of all the pirates talking at the same time at the 5:56 mark after Mario says that they are like the Hardy Boys? they all start talking at the same time, and it is tough to hear......

It sounds like the Captain just says "you'd better keep your mouth shut", but Crothers makes a reference to the Hardy Boys, but then I can't understand the rest......

Alot of people, at least a thousand are still searching. But, I think(heard this from BMT) that you and I have a good shot at it.
I found a spot, I am most certain is the SPOT. Does anyone want to do a search in Staten Island for me? I know a place that , if you are at 28furlongs, you are a tad too far. (what an excellent clue)
I am coming that way , or my buddy will be, In a week to ten days.

ANyone?
Crows Nest

Has anyone found the actual crows nest other than the one I found which has a flag looking code in one of the photos? The windows from episode three match, the right track matches, the taget on the tree matches, etc, etc, many, many clues at the site that makes me believe the crows nest is related to this hunt.

Who else has figured the God Like Father Figure clue out?
though this clue gives me a heading south of the first location, I do believe this clue could be related to the 28 furlongs as well. By the way, its no coinsidence that the 28 parralels itself exactly on both sides of the compass.

I also have a few ideas of where it is, but the question I don't know is 1) is the chest buried already or 2) are they going to bury it the week the last video comes out.

My hunch is that it's door number 2. If we are taking the Crew at their word, they say "you'll know it when you find it" thus I'm assuming it's obvious, to prove you're in the correct spot.. which means I don't think the chest is just hanging out there right now. It would also defeat the purpose of the rest of the videos if someone went out and "dug" it up tonight.

On another note, the Pirates say that if you look closely in every video you'll see the coins... has anyone? I don't have sound at my work computer, and I've watched them a hundred times.. and I haven't seen any coins.
