Re: blinds

Good work with the math, I'd been playing with it to check it and I have a question about it that doesn't seem to pan out. But I admittedly don't know how Texas hold 'em works when it comes to multiple blinds. Anyone can explain this? (who here played the Last Call Poker ARG a couple years ago? Show of hands?)

Anyway - the pot starts at $400, and given the order it appears Tom = small blind and Crothers = big blind. I was assuming Tom put in $100 and Crothers put in $200 as blinds - yes that's only $300, but here's why I think that. The way I'm seeing it, Tom raises $150 (now in for $100 blind + $150 = $250) and Crothers calls, adding $50 (now in for $200 blind + $50 = $250). Captain calls last, putting in a total $250.

So Mulligan, in position 3, is ... well, weird - he calls by adding $150. That implies that the missing $100 from the pot is his as another blind! But I thought a "live straddle" (reading Wikipedia, so sorry if I'm wrong) would have to be at least as much as the big blind, and/or that if you had 2 small blinds, they would both go before the big blind.

So, am I missing something?

straddle is a bet used in a cash game they are playin a tournament
i do think something is fishy with the amounts i tried figuring out how they could have bet or called in proper order to add up to the right amount and have each put in an equal share and it eludes me i did catch something new though when mulligan calls to bring the pot to 5555 a cha-ching noise is heard that is not heard any other time a bet is called maybe 5555 is the code to the safe or locker where the gold is*

also in one episode capt shows a pic of crothers with a hat on then another with a hat off this is when i started to realize crothers was the key and mulligan and the bird are just comic relief

* I still believe gold is actually buried in the earth
thanks

PS. when i find treasure on thursday should i put up pics or just go silently into the night

Holy Mackerel
map

Not sure about the rest of you...but I solved the importance of Holy Mackerel...and if you have solved what the map clues are in all the previous vids....you will have its solution. All I can say is ...HOLY MACKEREL. Paul Hoffman must be behind this treasure hunt design....

And for those that do not think that the Water Club(crows nest) is not important....you need to look at the captains cheating hand closer. =)

stripes on Crothers sleeve in one of the first videos
the sleeve which had one stripe versus two changed

Perhaps it was the Larry King video. It was a little hard to follow because of crossed arms. I would have to rewatch.

5555

The observation of the ka-ching only after the 5555 is interesting.

In TV-land, for example Rockford Files, 555 would be used because it was never used in real life and so it avoided the risk of a television watcher call a real number.

Understood as a generic, maybe it is pointing to a number (elsewhere) as important. It is saying -- go somewhere else among the videos and find yourself the key number.

Now on the issue of digging generally that Panzone mentions, note that the puppeteers are doing this in the context of the hunt in England. They know the history that the hunt left England left covered with holes. People with the brilliance and inventiveness of a Michael Stadther ("Treasure Trove") or these puppeteers appreciate that the first "problem" to solve is how do you avoid digging. Mr. Stadther avoided it by using tree holes.

is that a picture of a tree on the wallpaper behind Captain
when he is interviewed on the couch

Even if it is a tree, it of course could just be the decoration.

But I think it would be a cool clue to have a tree pictured from the location of the treasure cache. And of course trees generally look the same and so it wouldn't really help unless you were right there. But then it likely would be possible to line up images.

Let me know if you learn of a page that allows you to compare two images.

ring on the dead hand toward end of finger
image over coins

It likely is nothing but if I were at a location and saw something that looked the same it would be thrilling. (I guess some pirates wore rings like that but I think we should keep an eye out for visual clue to a location). There is a danger on over relying on google rather than onsite inspection.

Is that an IPOD that appears when Mulligan pushes in chips
if so, is there a significance?

Stumped

Above anything, once again, big thanks to FellowTraveller.. your dedication to the game is appreciated.

Obviously the majority of us are getting a bit deflated, especially from the rush of enjoying the walk through the first 2 episodes, then being hit by 3 mind-spinning episodes (where the heck are we?!) Perhaps the game is just best played after all the episodes have aired...

SPAINARD, congrats if you've been able to actually piece together anything from the last few episodes. Actually it sounds like your dead-on with knowing the location... so what's prevented you from getting it (awaiting a wedding invite so you can go to the Crow's Nest at the Water Club catering hall?). In all seriousness, if anyone does find it... definitely take pics... heck video.. and share.. at least then we can all kinda share in the excitement.

numbers and dogs

Wow, need to give more thanks to everyone who contributed to figure out the bets/numbers... great work. Numbers are key.

No one has talked about the Dggie Academy poster. Their website doesn't say anything about "this is not a WLOG clue".. so it's probably fairgame. It's in brooklyn. Anybody pick up anything from that? It's such a clearly placed poster/clue on the episode, yet everyone is so quite on it... so i'm suspect that it's a clue and folks have found out what (notice how folks contribute less and less as they seem to be "on to something")

And on the same note, could someone please translate Tom... i'm sure someone has.. I'd rather discuss it here than bring it up to my japanese friends who don't even know about the hunt (who needs more competition right?)

Fulton Fish Market (New one is in Da Bronx)? Paul Williams (The Holy Mackerels singing group), maybe? Or are we talking baseball (Hoffman documentary)? Dunno
Those are the three possible hints I get out of it.

Fish & Chips?

Why can't I speak Japanese? Sad
