Maybe the gold's not there but they're in Gov Isl now?

You're welcome!

To give you a preview of my thoughts regarding this episode. Here is a list of forts in New York City:

Fort Wood, Fort Amsterdam, Castle Clinton, Fort Hamilton, Fort Jay, Fort Lafayette, Fort Schuyler, Fort Totten, Fort Wadsworth, Fort Washington, Castle Williams.

Of these only Fort Amsterdam, Fort Jay, Fort Wadsworth, and Fort Washington were ever under the control of the British. I think trying to place the two forts depicted in the comic will be the key to finding the location revealed this week. It is also clear now that the proper timeline for the series is episode 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 4.

i'd rule out the governor's island forts. the island itself is only open during the summer, closing in late september/early october. the gold, if i recall correctly, was buried in november.

But there are 2 forts there like the pic, Fort Jay (a star fort with 4 points like Tom's star) is the highest point in the island and DC artist Neal Adams was born there. I don't think the gold is there but maybe that's just the map you know. Just like the gold was obviously not in Central Park but it's part of the hunt. Maybe I'm wrong though.

What's with the allusion to King Kong?

Well, they warned us in the ticker tape about an upcoming gorilla.

"There is a gorilla. Not that he is an homage to anything, but he isn't a clue either. Gorillas just make everything a little bit better."

ARTHUR the SCOTSMAN?
GHAST GHOU...?

One of the early advertisements talks about cards and mentions some characters such as ARTHUR the SCOTSMAN... and GHAST GHOUL.

The telephone number listed as the customer service number on the GENERAL ANESTHETIC TOOTH CLEANING WORKOUT KIT advertisement is an actual phone number. A web search of the number (307-275-1033) reveals that it is listed as being the fax number for Elk Country Homes, a Wyoming based seller of manufactured and modular homes (i.e. mobile homes).

If you call the telephone number you will be treated to the following recording:

A cheery tune plays and the voice of the Captain is heard.

Captain: You've reached the pirate lottery hotline! This week's winning numbers be twenty, seventeen, sixteen, fourteen, twenty-one, and twelve. On the treasure ball be eight. If you've got the lottery ticket what has all these numbers, tear up the lot. T'aint what they're for! Har har har har har har har har har har!

The message repeats three times and then a female voice states: "Thank you. Goodbye." and the call is disconnected.

Other than the fax number, there don't appear to be any clues on the Elk Country Homes website. The company appears to be real, but may now be defunct. It was registered in Wyoming as Elk Country Homes, Inc. as a for profit business corporation on April 28, 2005, but as of June 4, 2008, it has been listed as being inactive due to delinquent tax status. However, the proprietor, a Mr. James W. Jerrett is a real person, and a resident of Wyoming. Here is a picture of him taken in August of 2008.

In fact, I spoke to Mr. Jerrett a few minutes ago by calling the second number listed on his website and he had no knowledge of the We Lost Our Gold treasure hunt. According to Mr. Jerrett, the fax number that is currently listed on the Elk Country Homes website is incorrect and is not his company's fax number. I can confirm that this is the case. An archived version of the Elk Country Homes website shows that the original fax number listed was 307-332-1306.

I don't think anyone else should call Mr. Jerrett. Although he confirmed that I was the first person to call him, he was a little put out by my call, coming on the holiday as it was. I believe his explanation and that he does not have any connection to the treasure hunt. One explanation could be that the puppetmasters are connected with the web development firm who designed the Elk Country Homes website and that they have taken the liberty of changing the fax number listed on the website for the purposes of the treasure hunt. However, this may be belied by the fact that the erroneous fax number is also found in a number of other listings online. Regardless, it seems clear that Mr. Jerrett will not be the source of any further clues.

I have added this information to the transcript as well.

Thanks for catching the typo - that's why I try to include source links for my conclusions.

Once again we would all be lost without our fellowtraveler

You are the greatest, man.

I just got to watch the video. I've been busy this weekend finding other buried treasure! So now I feel lucky. I'm not convinced I've solved everything in these videos yet though Wink

I believe that in this video, Tom and the Captain rejoin Mulligan and Crothers. Mulligan starts by saying that all four of them could defeat the monster, but... Then Crothers states that if "they" got off at the next port and followed their heading then they would be... And the Captain and Tom are then right behind them. And Tom says that their paths should be one. At first I thought "they" was us, but I think Crothers meant Tom and the Captain.

So this confirms the idea that they split up to ride the subway, perhaps singly, perhaps as these two pairs.

Pic
This picture is driving me crazy.

Hey guys, so there is one picture in the last episode that I can feel in my bones is important, and I can almost say why, but every time I think I see something I'm wrong.

For all of the comic book shots the screen pans through them, but on one there is a point where the camera pans back and isolates the pic for a second longer in silence, as if to say, this is important.

Any thoughts?

I have the pic isolated, but don't know how to attach it. It's at about 1:59[/img]

Is it the scene showing something like this:http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-11262877/stock-photo-statue-of-angel-holding-cross-outside-castel-angelo-in-rome-italy.html

Maybe connected to 'cross'ing paths?

Pic

Yeah I was thinking that.

Also thinking it was a map in disguise.

Also thinking there might be writing hidden, but I've reversed and flipped the pic every way I can and found nothing.

Also think I've seen that statue somewhere else, but can't place where. The exact one too, not the one in Italy.

It's really got me stumped.

Asymmetric cross

The cross in the scene a couple after the angel and cross is not normal. The left side of the cross bar that goes off the edge of the frame is too long to match the right.

The fortifications are in a "zone"

It is peculiar phrasing here. "I'll kiss Napoleon before I see pirates leave any zone armed with Britain's best fortifications!"

"Zone" is a strange word to use in this context. Are there bus fare zones or something there? Any other particular zones?

Also, the Brit is concerned about the pirates "leaving", rather than "entering", which is odd. He might have said, "before I let them leave here alive", or something, but the way this is put seems to emphasize leaving the zone as the important part.
