Will the PuppetMasters know when it's found? OF COURSE

Just finished catching up on all the posts after a long day at work.

Regarding whether the PuppetMasters will know when the treasure is found, I would be SHOCKED if they are not keeping close tabs on the treasure location. Furthermore, it's agreed that they're doing this to make a name for themselves, promote their talents, land major jobs, etc. Right? So do you really think, the finder of the treasure is going to be able to just dig it up under cover of night and slip away anonymously? This $10K is being spent as a publicity expense for their business. If it was just found and disappeared with no proof, imagine the scenario:

1) the "publicity" would be a thousand screaming hunters crying fraud. That there really never was a treasure. That's not conducive to building a positive reputation.

2) If you spent $10-Large on publicity expenses (not counting the cost of production), wouldn't you want to be able to claim the expense on your tax return? Otherwise, you have to pay the tax on the money. With no proof, how do you suppose that conversation would go? "Honesk, Mister Government type feller. We putted a bunch of our gold in a box and stuck it in the ground, we did. Then, we jest walked away. We ain't got no clue who found it. But we can deduct it, right?"

I suspect that once you find the "final" location, you'll find something that says "sign the enclosed publicity release, include your social security number, bring it to such and such location and we'll turn over the gold."

alternative to manila envelope being hidden
video discloses phone number that you call and then are mailed package

Remember how the monkey waited at the mailbox?

Picture the video disclosing a phone number that you call and then you get word that you won and they mail you the package.

Alternatively, maybe we are looking for the field that looks like the one from the scene in Follow That Bird (was it filmed in Central Park?) The talk of "4" reminds me of 44 something address and Snaggleupagus' mailbox from "Follow That Bird" btw. The Snaggleupagus's live in a cave....

I think we each should take out one of the muppet movies and see if either of the Brooklyn puppeteers is listedi in the credits.

I'll see if they are on Netflix and instantly watchable.

Hi Again

Hey forum.
Whatever happened to the almighty FellowTraveler? He should be here lol.

Anyway, The promenade was a dud from what I understand. Ive gotten information from fellow hunters telling me that theyve searched the entire walk and found nothing.

Did anyone check roosevelt island? Im still very doubtful about it =T. They said the treasure is buried IN one of the 5 boroughs, not off the coast...

I cant remember who said it earlier, but I too have been lost since episode 3. Im still standing on Columbus circle in front of the globe.

Where do we go from here? I still think the treasure is buried in brooklyn because if the puppetmasters are from nyc, theyd know the Bronx is a scary place. ESPECIALLY to weild around a case containing $10,000.

OH, and VB, please, calm down. No need to use such profane language in a forum.

Roosevelt Island is IN Manhattan, as is the Wards/Randall's mega-island.

To our questions about what you will find -- any significance to the fact that the Boots and Gloves beaver is holding a VHS tape in The Larry King? That said, they do say repeatedly that a chest of gold is buried.

What I'm still itching to know is...

what does Tom say at the very end of the 8th episode to make them all laugh?

fwiw, Roosevelt Island is officially part of Manhattan
so it is part of one of the 5 boroughs

As I recall, Roosevelt Island is officially part of Manhattan.

But these brooklyn puppeteers are cut from the same cloth as the puppeteers like Nelson, who loved storytelling and bringing the wonderment to kids.

I don't see them having as their solution Hell Gate. It would be inelegant.

They would want something that would writes up well, I think.

Maddies Hayes
and question of fulfillment of requirement it be buried

In season 2, in the episode "Under the Rainbow", after initially finding the pot of gold coins her father (a bank robber) had buried on the beach at the end of a bridge (a rainbow), she then went to re-hide it in Maddie Haye's backyard. Maddie explained that in the US, we consider the requirement that it be buried fulfilled if it is stored in a floor vault -- and she opened up her safe in the floor.

More practically, I think a solution that would qualify is a mini-storage locker (they rent them the size of a closet) that has underground facilities. I highly recommend the episode.

But then in a deception she puts it in a storage locker at an airport and in the end just gives the key to Maddie and Bruce Willis because she's learned what's really important in life.

I think the woman, who until the end thinks she is a leprechaun, curses those who try to steal her gold to the gates of hell in a very scary curse.
But I haven't rewatched it yet to see.

So while I don't know whether it is buried in the dirt or not, it seems highly impractical and the suggestion leaves "Maddie Hayes" as not meaning anything. Given, IMO, there are numerous other clues pointing to the theme of "rainbow" -- which is where you go pursuing your dreams and where gold is hidden -- I think it is not buried. Henson, Jon Stone, Nelson -- the entire series IMO is a powerful homage to the strong legacy of storytelling through puppetmaking that they have inherited. And they have certainly done the legacy proud. Zombies in mall without more would not have gotten them there.

the concept of homage
pointers to people like Mel Gibson was to introduce us to the "secret-like" homage

Perhaps the more in-your-face homages -- and the express banner explaining the nature of a homage -- was to point to the overall homage that also served as the overarching clue.

verniner are
clues

The unisphere in Queens shows the coast of Africa.
The compass in episode WPPPT turned N/NE pointing S/SW with the "Queens" cards to the right, and pointing to the Rockaways.
The best man of Lord Nelson was Hardy (Kiss me hardy).
The puppeteers are have a hardy-har good time.
The Hardy boys searched for and captured spies in Rockaway Beach in one of their earlier novels.

And finally (and probably least) "Homage" is a skateboard shop in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
