Black Tom
Forward Episode Clues

What is Black Tom's clue in Episode 2 that would go in Episode 3's order?

I'm not 100% for or against this theory yet, it's actually on my A Beautiful Mind Wall, but only as a theory.

I haven't found any evidence of even a two event pattern, never mind a three event pattern (which I believe is technically needed to form a pattern)

Well... how does Black Tom's "1,2,3,4 song" and it's events refer to Episode 2, even?

No clue
:)

But good point. I'm a gonna watch that again and see if I can make something of it.

Edit - I did think that it may just be a clue to help decipher the Japanese from the first episode, but maybe there is something more.

Well...

The BLACK TOM episode is DEFINITELY out of order.

1, 2, 3, 4, Song
Nadda

Still got a big bowl of nothing watching it again.

I mean, there is still the unusual appearance of Mt. Rushmore, but there are just so many unusual appearances that I am not sure what to make of it.

I'm starting to sway in favor of the Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Ave subway stop.
A lot of possible clues seem to be leading there.

Still cannot figure out why they would refer to this as the Port of Cortland. That is keeping me spectacles.

Black tom episode is out of order, but both that time, and the first time, we are given clues to the proper order. Not so with 1, 2, 3, 4 song. And Black Tom episode is for two episodes ahead not one.

Like I said, it's still a theory on the board, but I can;t find a good enough pattern to apply to more sections.

I thought at one point I was in Forest Hills after looking at directions from the ticker. I just did not know where in Forest Hills-maybe Forest Park. Once the WPPPT came out I thought no, this is the Queens episode but now I am not sure of anything.

You cannot ignore the listening to Mulligan from the beg. That is a major clue how, I do not know what it means tho. The traced foot step always looked like Gov. Island to me but that is impossible.

I'm glad someone else mentioned Gov's Island. I too have been convinced of the impracticality of it being the final resting spot (including the fact that it is only accessible Fri-Sun and it would be hard to lug 10k gold coins on a ferry unnoticed unless you did it it spurts), but there are several clues other than the foot that I can see no better referencing anywhere but Gov's Island. I suspect the island is at least PART of the solution.

I also have some reason to believe that the final resting place is in a relatively urban setting -- that is not tucked away deep in a park. It may be that it is in a small park or even near largely dormant roads, but if anyone else sees the connection let me know.

I beleive I have started to give up, acknowledging that this is deeper than I can possibly handle. It is extremely enjoyable and inspiring to see some of your thoughts on clues, or clues from your thoughts Very Happy so I will definitely lurk. I feel as though it is right before our eyes, and we just don't notice it, but the amount of info pouring in makes me believe that is not the case at all, and that it's deeper.

I agree with the Jackson Hts/Roosevelt station, the background lights during "How did I get up here? Is this a clue?" very clearly show that station, and then after Mario says "we're like the Hardy Boys", the same pattern of lights is shown. Being "on the right track" could refer to being on the right-most track, and considering how the background lights are oriented, that would be the blue line (which fits with the blue background in Mario and Fafa's square)

My thoughts on Port of Cortland: in the "list" of questions, the Port of Cortland "clue" gets crossed out, meaning we're not supposed to go there. I assume it refers to Cortlandt street, which forms the north border of a block which has 5 bus stops (according to google maps), but the big building on that block would prevent you from seeing all 5 at the same time, no matter where you stand.

Which train?

If you are to take a train from Col. Circle, which one takes you to Roosevelt Ave.? None. So, that either means, you need to decipher the lights in the background as someone has mentioned in the past or you never get on.

Agree with you there. It's got me stumped.

This is why I am still hanging out here at the park, I really want to go back in.

For me, the clue needs to be perfect.

Still with you michnyc

And it doesn't help explain the splitting up theory.

Tying the splitting up theory into the card game, it seems that Tom and the Captain may be playing together. Maybe we need to examine what their cards mean as pairs?

Does anyone know any card-based ciphers? I tried figuring this out once before and hit a dead-end.

I remember some from my childhood, but you always needed a key. Basically, since their are 52 cards and 26 letters, you would only use the black or red cards or something like that.

If anyone figures anything out with this, please share as I am giving out all my best info in the hopes of just getting some real brainstorming going.

Remember, they used Morse Code, we should be thinking through other codes and ciphers that are popular and commonly used as well.

Counting cards?

I'm a little lost with the whole Texas hold 'em episode.

The only thing I can think of is there was some cheating going on, so maybe counting cards? Marked cards?
