new to this forum (and the hunt), but went and checked out Cortlandt St. Subway station on Sunday, and didn't find anything. Great job on DeKalb! We are in new york and will be participating now that we found the forum - let us know if you need anyone on foot.

I saw you pop up on the chat SpiceCowboy, but I can't get this thing to work right either.

I feel like everyone just grabbed all the balls and ran out into the school yard...and I got left with an empty ball barrel.

WPPPT

WPPPT
So for me, there are two things that make this episode a particularly telling one. One is the cards that have been dealt. This is not my own work, but I think it paints a pretty compelling picture: http://welostourgold.wikispaces.com/KLUES

This obviously does not gel with our conclusions from the Larry King, but I think we can probably bridge the gap here.

For me though, the Turtle clue seems quite obvious -- though how to connect it, I'm not sure. I know it was briefly mentioned here, but it didn't even register until I found it on my own. Specifically, the captain talks about a giant Turtle in the context of an exploding keg. In keeping with the British theme that emerges in the sixth episode, I don't see how this specific reference can be anything but this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bushnell

The HMS Eagle, the intended target, was docked at either Liberty Island or Governor's island depending on accounts. (It should be noted that Black Tom Island was mile long low-tide landfill pier/oyster bed extending from Liberty State Park into the Hudson). The attack on the HMS Eagle (a bird no less) failed, but a keg was released and exploded somewhere in the water between Manhattan, Gov's Island and Brooklyn -- the southern end of what was known as Hell's Gate.

I'm getting a little ahead, but I still can't figure out what the obvious "Snake" in the subsequent episode is. I know we are trying to work one episode at a time, but I think sometimes having a beginning and end (if it be so clear Cap'n) might help shed some light on what we are doing.

Has anyone had any luck building a map since Fellow Traveler disappeared (I'm convinced he is standing over the gold with a shovel at the moment waiting for other to help him lift the bounty). It would be interesting to see if we are tracing some sort of path yet.

 Chat

I would like to follow/participate in the aforementioned chat but am using an iPad with all this. When I click the link I get this message "Java Applet (NS4.08+ or IE4+ required)
Please grant the permission when the pop up window appears from Netscape and IE."
As I'm not using Netscape or IE I don't get the option to grant permission as I don't get the pop up window.
Any idea how I can participate via iPad?

Black Tom biography
engagement to Mariko

Turning to random items from the biography of the puppeteers, Black Tom is engaged to Mariko Yashida. Mariko's cousin is Sunfire who has the ability to absorb sunlight, and convert it into superheated plasma which burst into flame on contact with the air. She could use her plasma to fire beams of scorching heat or powerful bursts of solar fire. She could fly close to 100 mph by surrounding herself with a corona of fire, and then pushing the flames downward in a tight jet of superheated gas, shooting her through the air like a missile. Sunfire could see heat, by shifting her range of vision from normal light to infrared light.

This is what I've taken black tom's name to be a reference to. A lot of people believe it was the black tom explosion. At some point tom makes a reference to one of those characters - I think it was Mariko.
