Poker Hands

I think the hands tell us a lot more than is being discussed here -- specifically:

Kings = Brooklyn
Queens = Queens or Q Train
Jacks = J train, maybe Jackson Heights
3, 4, 5, 6 = subway lines?

I also think the turtle is a pretty obvious reference to the submersible of the same name that tried to attach a keg of gunpowder to a ship in NY Harbor, but I haven't been able to suss more detail out of that clue...

If the wiki is to be believed, this may lend some very specific credence to the idea that the characters have split, since the hands themselves may reference specific subway stations: http://welostourgold.wikispaces.com/KLUES

I thought the same thing, when I first saw it too, maybe that is our Bronx path?

I liked Port Morris. There's a cool Richard Serra sculpture just laying in storage somewhere over there (this is not a clue, just an homage)

There's the Bronx Zoo and Van Courtlandt park.

The British came down from the North (if you want to call White Plains north) in an effort to capture Washington.

Of course, the PMs are trying to get people to look everywhere, that's the fun of it. Maybe its part of the circumference of the footprint.

All I'm trying to do....

is to be the voice of "prove it and move forward with it" here.

last night, we corrected each other, we moved each other forward... we did the hard work.

For instance... I liked Port Morris once.... for different reasons.

How can you prove Port Morris? With the clues?

But, we didn't really prove anything last night beside us consenting that one route seemed better than the other, mostly based on hoping our answer was the answer to the clues? There's no need to be rude to people who just want to express themselves for whatever reason.

Here's what I get....

One, maybe two people, posting in open forum that they don't like my tactics..

10 - 15 private messages from people thanking me for putting and end to certain postings from people that just got in the way.. plus a few more thanking me for taking control of yesterday's forum.

And an obvious resurgence into a thread that people were slowly starting to give up on.

Not being rude. Just not allowing people to force fit their clues when it should just 'click'.

and Spaniard is DEFINITELY not WRONG....

It just may be that we haven't gotten to his expertise yet.

THAT is why we have to follow the course.

You didn't pay attention. There was MUCH more than just switching the 'C' with the 'P'.

Best of luck, though.

and for the record, I haven't dismissed Spaniard at all. I simply want to focus on solving/desolving a particular path. Spaniard is GREAT at finding obscure references and information and I have said that repeated times.

Fine. It's your forum. Good luck to you and everyone.

Its not his forum. If you say that, you agree with spy guy.

and there it is. Hello "Bert and Ernie" who mysteriously showed up one day after "SpyGuy" disappeared.

Seems we are POSSIBLY headed to either Staten Island, or my home town.

Or Gov's Island. I realize its an impractical location, but that's where the HMS Eagle was actually anchored, I believe, and it was a strong British fortification. Subways don't run to either location, but working against Gov's Island is that its only open on weekends. However, if the actual keg explosion took place in the open water, it may have been visible from several locations, sending scraps of wood all over.

The replica was in Brooklyn, just off the East River.

Other names associated:
Bushnell
HMS Eagle (as the bird flies)
Sgt. Ezra Lee
Queen Mary
Adm. Richard Howe (commander of the Eagle)

By one account, the Eagle moved towards redhook, further out of reach of Washington's forces.

Isn't it true that gov's island is only accessible during the summer/early fall months? Treasure was buried in November according to an article. So although it may be a stop - i dont think our treasure's buried here.
