Ghost Story

Does anyone have any interpretations of what's going on in Ghost Story? I see all of the references to Master and Commander and I know that there's another reference to time at the end but other than that, the codes are so subtle that if I didn't know better, I wouldn't think that there were any there at all. Though I do wonder about that persistent hole in the cabin where the French cannoned through.

Yeah, the very first clue in puzzle 1 is the solution. When they first mention the chest, the hole is first shown in the background over Toms shoulder.
Tutty was killed and buried in the hole in the wall of the ship with the treasure. So whenever you find the final location, you need to find a hole in the wall. Dont bother digging anywhere.

Each character has an ongoing story. Mulligan just wants to go to the crows nest, which he finally gets to in VIII.
Crowthers is unlucky, Tutty was good luck. Crowthers is not happy, Tutty is happy.Crowthers is slowly becoming Tutty and presumeably the last thing to return is the Luck by reminding Captain where the chest is.
Captain wants the chest back the whole time, but finally realizes what he truly wants is Tutty back, which jogs his memory that Tutty is with the chest.

Im growing to the idea that it is somewhere around Coney island. I used to think after ep 5(which definitely references lower brooklyn) we went back to manhattan, but that doesnt leave much time to clearly define where the chest is at the final spot.

I definitely like the idea of it being in a hole in a wall (now I'll be looking for shady restaurants) but what makes you think that Tutty died? He's a stuffed animal. He's certainly mentioned when the hole is made but has been switched with a potato, which implies that he's where the potato used to be, I suppose.

I wholeheartedly agree with the characters' stories, though I haven't been able to figure Tom's out. I think he's just there to point to things. I'm also rolling around the relationship with Crothers and the parrot, since the parrot is also bad luck. Crothers' bad luck + Parrot's bad luck = Tutty's good luck?

Anybody have a good trace of their paths? Mine all make figure 8's and random tree shapes.

During the p.oker ep. Captain mocks people who bring lucky charms to the table, then proceeds to cry over Tutty, who always brought him good luck. The only thing since losing Tutty he has won is the parrot, which he implies was unlucky to get stuck with.

If Tuttys not dead, with Crowthers-Bird, we now would have 2 Tutty's at the conclusion.

I think Captain blacked out the deathscene/burial, hence why they cant remember where the chest is.

Tutty is a STUFFED bird. The parrot (aka, CROTHERS-PARROT) is a 'live' bird.

Tutty never lived, so he could never die...

Whatever, you said something very interesting. "Tutty is where the potato used to be."

Places that specialize in spud delicacies, or specializing in potato-based dishes?

Doing good.
[No Description]

You guys are doing good but you're over thinking most clues and not thinking in the right path on others.

Allow me to assist:

My freebie to you all (not sharing my answers so this one is semi solved, sorry):

Samuel Morse died of pneumonia at his home at 5 West 22nd Street

It might help to keep things to yourselves and also to have some background knowledge of New York if you plan on finding this.

Getting caught on little stuff

I'm still trying to see things from a wide angle and slowly zoom in, since that's how I've solved puzzles in the past, but sometimes a little clue will open up a whole new perspective. I keep thinking about what I think is a little clue right now, though I don't really think that it's gonna open anything up. Still, I'm not making much headway any other way. At the end of the poker video, one of the narrators says "It's what makes poker the fastest growing sport in the world today. Winners, losers, hands folded, arms chopped off, bombs, skulls, grog and fish. For Leslie Sebastian Charles, I'm Al Lukovich. Thanks for joining us here at the WPPPT." What stands out is the "hand folded" part. Nobody folds any hands. From the way the pirates play, I can't imagine that they ever fold a hand. Is this just a puppetmaster joke? Like, they couldn't possible do puppets with their hands folded? Like I said, probably nothing but it's stuck in my head.

Searched the statue in Pelham Bay Park today according to the comic book clue. No luck though. I was sure Missry would have found it by now, seems to have the best info. Didn't I read somewhere that the spot is clearly marked? Does it have to be near the docks? Did anyone ever confirm receiving things in the mail from the P.O. Box address? I never received anything but my letter never came back.

Confirmed , received a package back.

Now, I'm claiming any fact here - this is merely conjecture, but given some of the "clues" in episode 8...

I think there's some subtle acknowledgements throughout the site and the videos (as pointed out by other board members here) to Columbia University, as well as the raised 'L', 'O', 'U', and 'G' in the site banner.

.

Either that or the web designer's a Lou Gehrig fan

Package received?

Does anyone have a picture of something that was sent in the mail from the comic book PO Box address? Even just the envelope or box it was supposed to have arrived in? Did anyone dig on the Beach in Coney Island?
