I know there was some talk of Borders book store in the last few days because of this line......

Captain: That better be code talk, ya nancy. Sodder me jiggers. They're getting close enough for boardin'. I'll get us a brace of pistols, Mulligan. We'll shoot 'em as they come. Oh, I am so excited. Shooting boarders in the face be one of me favorite things. Argh me favorite things. Argh...

IMO I think this means that at that point in the story if we are retracing their steps we would be approaching or at the BORDER of the park/ at Merchants Gate.

I do think they would look around to see people working on the hunt and the progress being made and if they googled it then this forum shows up first so they would most likely come here. I don't know if they have or not but if they did and they posted I have a good guess at who I think it is Smile

Argh! Don't point yer spy-glass in the direction of poor, kindly WeeWilly. N'eer sullied so much as a soft bottom of a fly did he! If looking you be for some foul personage to spoil ye treasure hunt, surely you couldn't have oer'looked The Spaniard!

...wow, that quote is a mess. You catch my drift, though.

Although I think y'all have figured out the majority of Episode 1 & 2, here are some things I still question:

1) Mulligan raises the merchant flag even though the Capt. says they "ain't fooling 'em."

2) The green flag with 5 yellow diamonds, any significance? I can't seem to find a matching flag (Brazil is the closest) which makes me think it's not a clue.

3) The "telescope" POV shot from Nigel and Gibson. Could this be a clue as to their location?

4) The Tutty bed after being blown to bits reads "TUT." Could this somehow relate to the "ELE" from episode 1?

Nevermind about the squid thing. A quick google search shows that squids have 10 arms, not 6. Don't know why I posted something like that without looking it up first. Sorry!

*snort* Love it! No harm done. Besides, how many squid or octopus make it to old age with all their junk intact? (How many humans for that matter...)

Doing a quick search I only found that insects have 6 legs. I did find a riddle though, I still don't know the answer to Smile
What has six legs but never moves, gets older but never changes, and can reach the clouds but cannot fly?

my guess is a star!

I don't think that the flag is a clue, at least not yet. After quite a bit of searching I haven't been able to find the direct inspiration for the flag design, so I think it is entirely fanciful. These pages are good resources however, if anyone wants to continue the effort.

These forums have strict rules in the TOS that prohibits people behind the scenes or running a game from posting here. And the above is a great example of why we have that rule - this way people don't have to worry about being manipulated on these forums by the PMs or BTS people in a game. Also it prevents players from accusing each other and keeps the forums a happy place. Smile

Here is the applicable TOS
Quote:
Rules and Guidelines for Puppetmasters

Users who are directly involved in the creation or maintenance of any Alternate Reality Game (whether in the role of Puppetmaster or in a Behind-The-Scenes position) are welcome to post as themselves in appropriate context, but not within a forum thread or section in which their game is being discussed. The only exception to this rule is when the game has reached a finite conclusion or ending, where people involved directly with the game are then welcome to discuss their game openly. If you are uncertain as to the appropriateness of a post in a thread or section devoted to your game, please contact a forum administrator or moderator. We will be happy to discuss the matter with you.

I think that the flag represents the baseball fields along the path that everyone has agreed on. Look up google maps, and zoom in on the baseball fields in the southwest corner of the park. Five brown patches (and on the flag, they are even diamond shaped) set against a green background.

Seems logical enough.

This made me laugh, Rose. I know Puppetmaster is an ARG term for a person running a game, but this time the Puppetmasters are actually Puppetmasters!

the 6-legged octopus be called Henry
I almost shot my face off

In 2008, English privateers laid their hands on an octopus that's missin' two o' its own: a six-limbed creature that they have dubbed 'hexapus.' T' fellow's name was Henry. Ordinarily, octopodes have eight arms and legs. And should they lose one or more in an accident, they can grow t' limbs aft. Which be what makes 'Henry' so mesterious and sacred like.

If you look closer between t' legs, thar's webbin' that attaches each o' t' arms together." You'd assume if he'd lost one o' his legs in an accident, thar would be space for an arm t' grow aft. "But thar's no space for two extra legs t' grow aft. That's just how he is." No one noticed his missin' legs until he attached himself t' my face.
It has also been mentioned in t' grapevine that he was named after Kin' Henry t' VIII who had six wives when he should have had eight."

I meself prefer two french maids.

somethin' fishy - 6-legged octopus discovered in Great Britain

If you look at t' Captain's twitter, you will see he has one bucko in t' whole world who feeds him his ideas. He be from England and loves aquariums. Mesinks something smells fishy here.

As a long time New Yorker --temporarily removed to upstate--I am always afraid that someone playing a game will go and try to dig in Central Park. One game we had here, I got a little frantic about it. The worst part for me is that even when the directions clearly say it isn't in the park, some people will just say "Oh, that is just a clue or a misdirection."

I hope none of these Morris Wink code detectives decide to go dig it up there. The good news is that the Park goers and security will be all over them; the bad news is that anyone digging in the park, or even randomly on city property because of a game, will look bad.

On the other hand, the more people think they know where it is, and they stop looking or give up, the better the chances for the rest of us.. Razz

Another META point I wanted to mention is that nowadays the PMs have so many ways to reach the players - through twitter or facebook -they don't need to post on forums to get any clarifying points out to the public. Just like this game did with the twitter post about 48 armies.

A final point - I am so enjoying all the new (and old) players and the fun time we are having collaborating here. Thanks everyone.
