Hardy Boys - The Search For Hidden Gold
what are details of plot?

I agree - it's Search For Hidden Gold that piques my interest.

In the original series, though, I still wonder if any of these titles involved hidden gold.

1. The Tower Treasure
5. Hunting for Hidden Gold
23. The Melted Coins
36. The Secret of Pirates' Hill
64. Mystery of Smugglers Cove
100. The Secret of the Island Treasure
101. The Money Hunt
136. The Cold Cash Caper
182. The Secret of the Soldier's Gold

I enlarged it 1000x and it definitely says something but I dont know how to clarify.

I think that's a great discovery! They mentioned in the change they made to the FAQ that all the clues on ON the website, not just in the videos.

I'm messing around with the contrast and the brightening to see if I can get anything.. all I have right now are a bunch of exclamation points...

Huting For Hidden Gold (Hardy Boys, Vol. 5)
Plot

A lengthy plot summary for "Hunting For Hidden Gold" is on Wikipedia in a separate article by that name. They were intentionally ushered on to the wrong train by a stranger.

Funny

Does anyone else find it odd that the same day that they begin talking about trains, these bottles appeared, and now we learn this Hardy Boys were "ushered onto the wrong train by a stranger"?

Yet they INSIST they did not leave the bottles?

And you said you were going to make an account, and scan your messages.

I'm sticking with what my puppet friends have said.

again with this?

I'm just playing the game like everyone else.... except I actually got my butt away from the computer and looked around. I found the stupid bottle and now I'm trying to be a part of it here.

Thanks for the warm welcome, but I guess I'll back away. Seas ain't so friendly here.

Actually I really like how everyone collaborates here, and I spent the ENTIRE day on Sunday in the Park. I have the blisters to prove it.

What's not kosher is saying you're going to do something, or have something and fail to follow through.

Fact is, the puppets placed an updated FAQ that they did NOT leave clues, but advertisements. You probably have an advertisement, at best. Like I said before, leaving bottles in CP where homeless people collect them, and volunteers work hard to keep it clean, they wouldn't last. ESPECIALLY if they were visible enough to see them on a casual walk.

My guess PB, is that a fellow treasure hunter with a design background left those bottles there to derail other hunters.

If the creators say it wasn't them, then it just wasn't them.

I've played a few games where other persons not involved in the creation planted "drops" (tangible clues, etc) to lead people in the wrong direction for their own selfish reasons. It happens. It's 10K dollars. In this economy, who doesn't want 10K dollars?! So people are going to go out of their way to beat the competition, no matter what it takes.

PS: You really would get better reception by taking your message in a bottle to a library or something and scanning it and posting it here. At least if you're going to maintain that you think it's from the puppets.

That's my 2 pieces of 8 Wink

Videos Slowed Down

Hi guys, does anyone know the best way to watch the videos frame by frame. I really want a closer examination than I can get from YouTube.

I have Final Cut Express, so I can move frame by frame, but I'm not sure how to get the videos off of youtube. How have you guys done it so far, if I may be so bold to ask?

Thanks

I should have spoken up earlier perhaps. I for one did not appreciate Stella's attack on you. I felt it was unjustified and went too far. She is new too. In fact, I note that most of us participating here are fairly new to Unfiction. I certainly appreciate the occasional difficulties in getting a piece of equipment to work. In any case, you had no obligation to share anything about the message you found. I can't figure out why anyone's first reaction would be 1) that someone is trying to scam us, and 2) that you must be that someone, and 3) to accuse you without any evidence. Maybe 1, but not 2 or 3.

For Macs, MacTubes from macupdate.com works. I assume there are comparable utilities for Windoze. It is not what YouTube wants you to do, of course. Since I suppose it would be a violation of terms of use, I won't say that I ever use one of these. In this case, however, it is kind of important to be able to download the videos and go frame-by-frame.

Where are the clues
illegible

Actually, the updated FAQ says :

"All the clues you need are found on the welostourgold website. Nowhere else. We did not leave any physical clues for you to find."

They did not change the previous FAQ:

"How do I find it?
Jeeze, we just told you. The eight episodes contain every clue you need to find the treasure."

So, all the clues needed are on their website, and all eight videos are on their website (some just aren't unlocked yet! ), and all eight videos contain all the clues you need!

Touche. I could have been a bit more cordial, but from the get go it was fishy. One poster talks about messages in bottles, and hasn't posted since (under the same handle), and then someone says they found a gaggle of them on a casual walk through CP on their lunch break, but has not the means to prove it.
Then we are told by the people running the game that there is no such material outside of the website and the videos. Yet the person with extra clues wants to maintain it's all too coincidental and his clues in bottles are legit.

Again, very fishy.

No one has an obligation to share, but like I said in my reply to PurpleBeard, the collaboration here is awesome - which is why I stopped lurking and created an account.
A reason to doubt? The rules of the game say that the only clues are coming from welostourgold.com and from no where else. If someone is saying otherwise, I think it's fair to doubt them.

I also never claimed the PB was scamming, I conceded that I'm sure he found something, but I sincerely doubt that it is from the people running the game. Why? Because they took the time to update the FAQ to make sure everyone knows the material is coming from the website and the website only.

Apologies for being harsh.
