I think that's a great discovery! They mentioned in the change they made to the FAQ that all the clues on ON the website, not just in the videos.

Actually, the updated FAQ says :

"All the clues you need are found on the welostourgold website. Nowhere else. We did not leave any physical clues for you to find."

They did not change the previous FAQ:

"How do I find it?
Jeeze, we just told you. The eight episodes contain every clue you need to find the treasure."

So, all the clues needed are on their website, and all eight videos are on their website (some just aren't unlocked yet! ), and all eight videos contain all the clues you need!

Ya that's the only part that confused me. Just to be thorough Hubs and I are going to see what we can do in Photoshop with the image of the map after dinner.
Just a cursory contrast manipulation I see words like "No." and a few other letters that I can make out, but that's about all.

MYRDDIN
Ticker

TICKER:

MYRDDIN ADDRESSES THE PRESS, "I CANNOT SEE EVERTHING. WE WILL FIND AN OUTCOME, AND THE OUTCOME WILL BE THE RIGHT ONE."

Myrddin is apparently welsh for Merlin as in the wizard and prophet associated with King Arthur in the legend.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin

Perhaps given a choice between two alternatives -- one on the left and the right -- you are supposed to choose the right.

There is a bunch of other Arthur stuff in the ticker: Avalon, Lochlan, Bors. May or may not have anything to do with Arthur Kill, the Broadway show Camelot, or for that matter, Monty Python.

Arthur statue
a different Arthur statue - missing spectacles

Likely irrelevant factoid.

The statute of Arthur (the 21st President of the US) is missing his eyeglasses.
http://newyorkcitystatues.com/chester-a-arthur/

I mention it only because Crothers' remark about spectacles.

Old Man Dinkins

There is an Old Man Dinkins on Facebook. There is a short ghost story by Maria Leach called "'Taint So" featuring Old Man Dinkins. There are a few other references in unprinted fiction that don't seem to have much significance. There was a farmer character named Dinkins on South Park, I gather, never watched it. Apparently he was referred to as Old Man Dinkins. That seems to be the most likely source for the name on the ticker. Dunno how he felt about cats (another Broadway musical BTW).

Ticker are nonclues??

So I watched the video again with my subway map out, and clearly the background is a map of the city and Long Island.

What I noticed the third time of just reading the ticker is that the ticker is not clues...start at 6:02 is says "If you spent this whole episode reading the ticker, the bad news is you missed the clues. The good news is there will be a quiz, and you are prepared!"

Are we getting side tracked focusing on it too much rather than trying to decode what subway we are taking where?

Arthur
the other Arthur

The Once and Future King is an Arthurian fantasy novel written by T. H. White. It was first published in 1958 . The title comes from the supposed inscription of the marker over King Arthur's grave which translates to "Here lies Arthur, the once and future king." (Keep in mind the episode is titled The Larry King).

Running the hypothesis of the other Arthur into the ground, the memorial I mentioned was in New York City's Madison Square Park not far from the Chester Arthur House. This 5-story brownstone row house is currently owned by a slum landlord and is generally deteriorated and rundown. His gravesite is in the Albany area, and not New York City.

Gee...my first thought there was Mayor Dinkins.

Same here, but nothing much in his bio relates to where we may be headed.. if we are indeed headed to Queens.

Re: Videos Slowed Down

Hi guys, does anyone know the best way to watch the videos frame by frame. I really want a closer examination than I can get from YouTube.

I have Final Cut Express, so I can move frame by frame, but I'm not sure how to get the videos off of youtube. How have you guys done it so far, if I may be so bold to ask?

Thanks

Look up DVDVIDEOSOFT free studio

I loaded and get excellent results...claims to be a youtube downloader and seems to work fine, I am still learning how to use it, but you can freeze frame for sure...not sure if I can do frame by frame yet tho...I am a noob and am learning as I go..
