Panorami ~ look whats in the 'O'. MAybe its a clue...maybe not..what ya all think? Is that the star in larrys shoulder?
Find PanOrami on the net...

wow, these guys are good.

I totally agree. Obviously we aren't supposed to GO there, but they are faboosh at tying in their clues.

Sin Vraal you said "this team"... are you working with another team that might have some info we can pool together??

Actually, when I said "this team", I was just referring to "this team". As opposed to me, who hasn't piped up at all but read 60-odd pages of this because a couple of "this team" like to tag me in from time to time to look at things. Smile

Uhm, I didn't read all the pages so i don't know if anyone mentioned this, but there is a cortland st train stop.. and that works with calling subway stations docks.

I saw some more really obvious stuff no one mentioned. You guys are getting pretty esoteric.

As far as i can tell, Its giving subway directions.

Re: Port Of Courtland and dinkins
so I don't remember if there is any mosaic work down there or not relating to this cat in a tree business in the ticker.

About Dinkins. Yes he was the Major, but also Columbus Circle was also referred to as Dinkins Circle in an old NYTimes article.
Pretty sure the cat in the tree and Dinkins is a reference to the World Trace Center bombing in 1993 (next to Cortland St. station).

Dinkins Circle
Dinkins Circle ---> Flushing Meadows Corona Park

City of New York Honors Former Mayor David Dinkins

The base of the pasarelle just outside the East Gate public entryway to the US Open now has a new name, "David Dinkins Circle," after the former mayor of New York City and current USTA Board Member who was instrumental in keeping the US Open tournament in New York.

"For me, this tournament brings so many things together that I love," Dinkins said. "I love this tournament, I love this sport and I love this city. I am deeply grateful that my name will forever be associated with this tournament. It's an honor."

Dinkins assisted the USTA's relocation of the tournament in 1978 from the private club setting of Forest Hills to its current home at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, now the world's largest public tennis facility.

Flushing as taint
possible clue?

For a person to flush is to become markedly red in the face and often other areas of the skin, from various physiological conditions. Flushing is generally distinguished, despite a close physiological relation between them, from blushing, which is milder, generally restricted to the face, cheeks or ears, and generally assumed to reflect embarrassment. Flushing is also a cardinal symptom of Carcinoid Syndrome – the syndrome that results from hormones (often serotonin or histamine) being secreted into systemic circulation.

gathering material relating to different parks/areas
google documents

It seems that the puppeteers may be intentionally offering up clues that ambiguously point to several parks. Each hypothesis could be developed robustly through the uploading of material about the park and neighborhood without undue concern that the puppeteers are just going to reverse course -- treat a category of clues as invalid etc.

There is a wide variety of possibilities whereby hundreds of pages of useful material can be quickly uploaded by anyone for free so other people can see the underlying material such as photos of the local sites.

So I recommend that people choose their favorite hypothesis and work it up. I don't know New York City and so am not the one to suggest key parks clued.

But Flushing Meadows Corona Park seems to be an example of one. I've always also liked Central Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park (and Prospect Park because it is in Brooklyn). But folks on this board know the City whereas I don't.

For example, I could upload a freely viewable 120 page book I have on The Bridges Of Central Park. (I can't wait to walk the park someday soon just to see the places pictured!)

Google documents perhaps is an especially easy software to use, though I tend to use blurb for this purpose.

See, e.g.,
Dutch Schultz in Fairfield County, Connecticut in 1935 : his horses, his hiding places, and his missing millions

just a little movie reference (and some history)

Hi all... been checking things out and around the city myself. Got some good leads, but wanted to share a discovery...

The names MULLIGAN and CROTHERS both relate to the 1979 film "Scavenger Hunt" starring Scatman CROTHERS and Richard MULLIGAN (also, one of the teams names were CROTHERS).

The name CAPTAIN may refer to the movie "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" whereas the entire game was monitored by a Captain

And now for the history:

The BLACK TOM explosion was the peak act of German sabotage on American soil during the First World War. On July 29, 1916, German agents set fire to a complex of warehouses and ships in the New York harbor that held munitions, fuel, and explosives bound to aid the Allies in their fight. Though America was technically a neutral nation at the time of the attack, general policies greatly favored the Allies. The attack persuaded many that the United States should join the Allies and intervene in the war in Europe.

BLACK TOM pier was located across the harbor from Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The pier partially rested on BLACK TOM Island, from which it derived its name. The adjacent shore was crowded with warehouses, loading docks, and train tracks. When all of the fuel and explosives were spent, the smoke cleared to reveal a swath of devastation several city blocks wide. BLACK TOM pier and most of its island were gone.
