TheClaw has represented the conversation accurately. It wouldn't make sense for O. to try to have a conversation with everyone. And besides, I probably have a Trojan now where as you don't. Laughing

I still don't get the importance of 87.

I'm not playing or even lurking, at this point, but for some reason Vlad sent me a FB message this morning. I really don't have any time to play/lurk/look, so I'll leave this here for you all...

Quote:

you know of a sentence with 5 'and's consecutively...?

Dawn August 12 at 9:01am
"There were a pair of twins called And - short for Andy. They once went out with some friends. On the way back, Bert and John went on the bus, and And and And and Bill decided to walk."

Vladimir Sirin August 12 at 2:15pm
good - but now without making it a proper noun... - you're close though...

87

Quote:
Oeagrusson

...enlighten those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death. The dawn of darkness starts on his time of dayspring. 87 years to prepare.

O. said something in the chat last night about 4 months or so to prepare. It reminded me of something I posted earlier but then forgot about. The date has been confirmed as 4th Jan 1924, adding 87 takes us to 4th Jan 2011. Is this the date of the beginning of the 15 days?

Quote:
Oeagrusson

75.0°S 132.4°E - Happy birthday - maybe! Depends if you're in the box or thinking outside of it...

This is the location of the Schrodinger crater on the moon. It's named after Erwin Schrodinger, who was born on 12th August 1887 (i.e. it's his birthday) and died on 4th Jan 1961.

O. is both very clever and has a great, but dark, sense of humour. Laughing

EDIT: There is a solar eclipse on 4th Jan 2011.

Meow!

The And puzzle relates to space. The gist is a sign for a company (eg- Big And Bouncy). A draft version comes back, but isn't right. They ask for corrects by saying "we want more space between Big and And and And and Bouncy".

Sorry for the double post, but just had an interesting exchange with O following his tweet about "closing the box for the night". Due to his linking to a figure known for writing Christian hymns, I stirred the waters with a flippant remark implying that Jesus might have made use of the box to be dead and alive. And then suggested Jesus was like ET.

O wasn't best pleased, and asked if I was suggesting that "Our Lord, O Oriens, is subject to quantum uncertainty".

O Oriens refers to the use of Morning Star as a name for Jesus, and is part of a canto type musical loveliness - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iY1b24eR9vA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

However, Oriens was also a Roman sun god, and interestingly, many Christians don't like to use Morning Star as a name for Jesus as it's also used to refer to Lycifer - especially as Son Of The Morning.

Edit - just realised. The canto is linked to 21 December, often the Winter Solstice, aka the shortest (darkest) day.

And 21st December to 4th January is 15 days in total.

Of course, 4th Jan is associated with a death, not a birth. Therefore it's logical that it's the end of the 15 days rather than the beginning.

But what follows....?

Ok, y'all are superstars...good job on all of this. I'll be away for the weekend at a cottage with no Internet access (scary!), so I'll have to catch up when I get back.

@dreamerblue: Have a great weekend!

There is a lunar eclipse on 21st December 2010 as well as a solar eclipse on Jan 4th 2011.

And O. just tweeted:

Orpheus wrote:

EDIT: It's the face of a binary clock.

EDIT2: Orpheus just posted this on my Twitter:

13 hours have passed since you told me of the eclipses. Have you now understood the significance of the upcoming darkness? Find the blog...

Anyone got any ideas about this Blog. O is chivying me along, so I guess there may be something we need to spot asap. Wonder if Vlad or Claire have any info...

Edit - direct link from Vlad. http://chessconfessions.blogspot.com/

But why?

O responds:

Quote:
@dagadadagada Clear before us through the darkness Gleams and burns the guiding light:Brother clasps the hand of brother,Stepping fearless..

Quote:
...the soul in contemplation utters earnest prayer and strong...

And furthermore, in response to a question about the above blog...

Quote:
@dagadadagada Whom of are you talking? Boardgames? Babies? You have me lost as SBG was more than that - unless you talk of another...

So I guess we're NOT looking at Vlad's blog link, and something more literary.

More edit!

O's worlds relate to the lyrics of this hymn, translated by SBG. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Through_the_Night_of_Doubt_and_Sorrow

Furthermore, I've located a blog about SBG that speaks of a possible disaster.... http://devonhistorysociety.blogspot.com/2010/04/baring-gould-and-great-bindon-landslip.html

No - I'm on the wrong track. Looking at evidence so far:

Vlad suggests Blogspot is a good source for blogs
The blog is by Edward Baring-Gould
The word Oroborot is important, but shouldn't be used.
Vlad says the chess page has made him realise there's more to life... Top post is about the birth of a new daughter. Could Grace Adele Baring- Gould be related to the blog somehow?
Have I missed anything?

All the lyrics posted by O. are either written by or translated by SBG.

The unspeakable word is 'Oborot', the Russian werewolf.

In the chat, O. said something about a blog by 'our creator's father'. SBG's father was Edward Baring-Gould, whose nickname was 'The Silver Poplar'. Searching for any blog with these terms has so far proved fruitless.

Populus alba, the Latin name, brings something up - but I suspect that's not game related as it appears to have been created in 2009.

The traditional English name, abele, also brings something up but it looks like a placeholder for someone and not game related.

Not sure how helpful this is, but found this directly relating to Oborot and SBG

Quote:
According to The Book of Werewolves by Sabine Baring-Gould, a Russian spell to transform into a werewolf, referred to as Oborot in the text, is as follows: "He who desires to become an oborot, let him seek in the forest a hewn-down tree, let him stab it with a small copper knife, and walk round the tree, repeating the following incantation:"

On the sea, on the ocian, on the island, on Bujan,
On the empty pasture gleams the moon, on an ashstock lying
In a green wood, in a gloomy vale.
Towards the Stock wandereth a shaggy wolf,
Horned cattle seeking for his sharp white fangs,
But the wolf enters not the forest,
But the wolf dives not into the shadowy vale,
Moon, moon, gold horned moon,
Check the flight of bullets, blunt the hunters' knives,
Break the shepherds' cudels,
On men, all creeping things,
They may not catch the grey wolf,
That they may not rend his warm skin!
My word is binding, more binding than sleep,
More binding than the promise of a hero!
"Then he springs thrice over the tree and runs into the forest, transformed into a wolf."

Double post, sorry, but O has dropped some hefty clues about the blog.

Quote:
Pointers. Blog area. Blog name. Name is founder's father's 'name'. Consilience will assist, albeit subconsciously. Original wood not pieces.

Wonder if Samuel is Sam Loyd, known for his chessboard puzzles.

Well and truly stumped, TBH.

The country of Czechoslovakia broke into two countries on 1st Jan 1993.

EDIT: The Samuel in question is Samuel Morse. The T in morse code is a single dash, and a dash can also be used to indicate a pause.
