Um.

I've smuggled home my school's science department's UV light for the summer (I'll take it back when summer is over, don't worry Smile...and no one should need it during the summer).

But.

In the midst of transporting between work and home a bunch of my teaching stuff...my postcard has been--hopefully temporarily--misplaced...before I was able to get a better look at the UV markings.

I'm back at work the next 2 days and will look for it amongst my stuff there. I have a feeling I know what stuff it is with, and I know it will turn up eventually...but I want to find it ASAP so I can finish the job with the UV thing.

Sorry Sad. Like I said, I'll try to fix this ASAP.

But hey, now that I have a UV light at home for the summer, any of you in Canada or the US (or elsewhere, but I can't remember where celendis is & therefore where it would best to send to him from) can re-mail me your postcards for UV investigation if you want, too.

I promise not to misplace YOUR cards Sad.

ETA:

Ok, I found something about the navigation system that we used in the The Lost Ring ARG, which did indeed involve the zodiac / Roman gods / Greek gods. See the The Lost Ring wiki article about it here: http://olympics.wikibruce.com/Omphalos (and yes, if you click on the link there to Eclipseyue's Omphalos map and notice that a dreamerblue was involved in recovering an artifact here in Toronto, that WAS me, thanks Smile).

Edit 2: Found my postcard, yay Very Happy! I'll try to get a better handle on the UV markings this evening.

 		Checkin' in from Las Vegas, Nevada. You all's work is looking great. Sadly, I have reason to believe that a postcard is currently rotting away in my postbox at home in Norway, probably having arrived just a day late or so. If it matters by then, I'll make sure to get it up asap when I get home in a week or so. I've asked a friend if he is able to check my postbox for a card, but can't promise anything.

 		Ok, sorry for the delay, but just took a couple pics of the UV stuff on my postcard...going to transfer them to my computer now, block out my address on them again, and then I'll upload them to the wiki. I'll edit this post when I'm done.

Edit: Ok, done...but must sleep now. See you tomorrow; thankfully, I have no class Friday and so I won't have readings/etc. to do tomorrow (though I'll likely go see the doctor about this dang vertigo).

 		Got my postcard now that I'm home. Indeed it does have UV text on it as well. I'll upload scans of it to the wiki as well as UV photo(s).

The plain text reads as follows:

Note that the text could be either Joha or Johan, due to the n being just a curl on the end of the a. I don't know, look for yourself when I get the pics up.
Also, upon further inspection, I think that I might've seen the same thing that was noted earlier -- a letter looking like what you'd expect, but actually being a different letter in disguise. Namely, the middle streak of the second E in FIFTEEN is connected to the following N in such a way that the E might seem to be a G. I'm not sure if this is due to handwriting or another hidden letter.


Oh, and there are some more things than just the plain text.

On the top is something that could be the lower half of a set of (Older Futhark) runes, but I'm not sure. Some of them I just can't recognise in their current half form. Could be some other script.

The usual 21/22 is also present, up right from the "RIP".

Up by the stamp, the following scripture:

Finally (I think), there is some UV text. At the middle of the bottom, written in 90 degrees clockwise, are two-and-a-half or three letters. To me it looks like "BID", but it's a little faded, so it might (less likely though, considering the handwriting) be "BI" and half an N.
At the middle of the right side of the card, is something less legible though. Oh, it's way less faded than the bottom text and shines bright in the UV light, but due to the characters being cut in half and rotated, I don't know what they could be without joining them with their other half. It could be "IS", "TS", or whatever. If the rotation is counter-clockwise instead of clockwise, it'd probably be "SI", "SJ", or something.


Your analysis will be welcome (when I get the pics up anyway, so you'll have something to analyse). What could the "#1" and "∞" mean? Anyone got any ideas about the astronomical symbols and times yet?

Edit: Damn, photographing the bottom UV print is hard. My camera won't catch the D/N/M/thing due to it being too faded/weak. I'll just upload what I've got and hope it'll work out.

Edit 2: So I discovered I could enhance the UV marking artificially by manipulating the colour channels in the picture with Gimp. It's not really good, but it's at least better. Gonna edit this post again when I actually add the stuff to the wiki.

I seem to remember wishing him a happy birthday on Facebook earlier in the year, and now it says it's November 11...
