[TRAILHEAD] De Vierde Band (Dutch)

SpaceBass recieved notice today of a mysterious upcoming Dutch website at www.devierdeband.nl (The Fourth Band)

The website is in Dutch exclusively, which rather narrows the audience here on Unfiction, but for the few Dutch members out there, I'll briefly describe what I've found so far:

The main site seems to be a blog from a person named dodo, sporting a couple of reports of different bands playing at different locations.

From looking in the source, I found that the grey area below the set of links on the right is clickable. It takes you to index.php?track14, which seems to be an error page, but upon closer inspection, you'll see the word 'verder' ('continue') hyperlinked. Click that and it will take you to track14.devierdeband.nl. That is, if you do not encounter a server error, which happened to me a couple of times. Refreshing seems to help.

You see a page with a counter, which is counting down to mondaynight 10:00pm local time, plus a message, asking you if you found this place alright and apologising for making it so hard to find. The message also asks for help, and to help, one can leave their e-mail address. I did so, and recieved a registration code and link, which leads you to a registration page where you can leave some more personal info. The message there asks you to wait until contacted.

Not too sure what this will lead to, although hints in the message Space recieved, combined with the words 'congo is geen consumptie' (Congo is not consumption) at the bottom of the front page suggest this is somehow tied into Kracht van Congo, an initiative from a collection of (Dutch and international) NGO's to raise awereness for what's happening in Congo, Africa right now. Incidentally, this monday (starting at the same time the counter is counting down to) there is a debate-night here in Amsterdam held by these organisations.

I tried for a while, but it's confusing and rather incoherent and it's not exactly done wonders to keep me interested.

Incidentally, I just recieved an e-mail pointing to a deaddrop, but apparantly, this deaddrop is located somewhere in the sea between England and Ireland? (or Cayenne, French Guyana, if the coordinates should be reversed...)

[EDIT] (So, ok, if you remove the minus from the coordinates, it's Amsterdam Central Station... Rolling Eyes)

Oh by the way. I came by earlier today to drop the rumor from the Opera 150 users page, and thought I would come in this old thing and explain things since this is now long dead.

I was actually one of the puppetmaster for this. Fully aware that characters where not suppose to post in this topic unless the ARG was over.

The ARG was over officially at Fri, march 06, 2009 and Robbert Vos posted his last messages only as a sort of post-mortem resolvement and "thank you" to our players.

We had about 5 active players who where seriously solving things and allot of topics on dutch forums that where following it... but not really doing anything.

Still, it got solved in the end (we had tree possible endings based on the last drops and the players reached the second best ending, Robbert Vos died, but the bad guys got busted.)

The goal was to raise awareness for the trouble in Congo, which was the central theme trough the ARG and actually what our fictional hero was fighting for.

I learned allot. I had fun. I hope some people got enjoyment out of it. If anybody still has questions/ tips / hatemail for doing such a lousy job Wink, feel free to post/ask.
