On typed message.

PErhaps the thing that he has isnt anything in the background (when he refers to "having the damn thing).

IMO, the scariest thing I ever saw thing that flashed at the end of the trailer was a note that was found at the time of the crash, perhaps a witness report.

He has it up on a projector, perhaps like an overhead that is making the individual letters of the note really big.

Whatever has been activated, perhaps this note had details of what the thing looked like, and perhaps these two were in on covering it up or something.

Edit: actually, looking at the right side of the picture, it looks like there is a photo album of some sort sitting on an overhead projector. It's either that or a book. IMO, people are looking too much into the background and should be focusing more on the details that were put right in front of us. We can earn from past experiences with JJ, that things usually arent THAT hidden.

What note? Did I miss a note?

So, we have a box of stuff - at least containing a circa 60s pillbox hat and hat pin (or monkey). As an aside, one site I checked out on the pillbox hat said that it'd been fashionable back to the 30s and had begun to fade until Jackie made them popular, however, their popularity "came to an abrupt halt" the day Kennedy was assassinated and all the photos of Jackie, wearing the pink pillbox hat, is shown cradling his head in her arms. So, up to 1963 - and whether it's relevant or not, we at least have two references to Kennedy - the speech in the paper and the Jackie hat.

Speculation: someone bought or had this box shipped to them, I keep leaning toward something like personal effects, someone died and this box of stuff is sent to someone else. The sender may or may not have realized some of the contents, the recipient opens it up, takes stuff out, finds camera?

But the "sold" post it makes me think of garage sale goodies so eh.

If you had read my post, you'd see that i was speculating that what's up on the projector is a note, especially since it isnt worn like it is in the trailer, it might be from back int he time and it might be part of a scrapbook that looks like it's sitting on an overhead projector on the side.

Once again, I think the stuff in the background is of no importance. They probably wont reveal much info but speculation in these things.

I did read it.

ETA: to prevent a new post, I agree for the most part with the exception of the zip code on the box itself, and that connection made to the astronaut. That one's hard to overlook...as well as the two Kennedy references. Beyond that, no, I don't think the stuff is relevant either way.

Q. Is there any way to enlarge or get a bit clearer resolution on the negative pic and perhaps the writing above the zip code at all?

Q. Since this is a new download, would there be any potential for anything to be hidden in the file itself before a print job is created?

I'm working on this now.

Timeframe

I'm with Barmaid about the mixed up timeframe. The lamp and the hat look old, but there are a couple of very contemporary items in the photo as well.

According to Wikipedia, Post-It notes were invented in the late 60's, but not publicly available until 1977. I'm pretty sure the hand-held packing tape dispensers are less than a decade old. Those scissors look pretty modern as well.

Printout Not a Problem ...

Nope ...
All you have to do after clicking "print" is to open "Print Preview" before sending the file off to your printer.
This was how I (as well as the many others) discovered the update this afternoon!

It looks to me that the writing above the zip code is "irginia" .
I had to look at it a good long time...was unable to really do much for it in photoshop.

I have now noticed very faint writing on the piece of paper under the scissors...gonna work with that a bit.

I've seen tape dispensers of similar type for as long as I can remember. The scissors look like they could be stamped metal or cast, with the former having rubber dipped handles and the latter enamel painted handles. Both have again been around since I can remember. (If you are wondering, I can remember well before the 1979 setting of the train incident.)

I know people often cling to old fashioned things, so a pillbox hat may not have been contemporary in 1979, but an older lady would probably still have sported one. The lamp looks rather like a 60s-70s vintage piece to me. All we can really figure for sure is that the incident has already been set in 1979, and the film was taken then. The rest of what we are seeing could be taking place any time since then.

In the lower right corner by the thumbtacks there is a red circle with a white border. It appears to be a reflection of the object right above it, but there is no red-circle on the side of anything, only in the reflection on the table. Question

Interesting... looks to have been photoshopped out to my eye.
But, yeah... the question is: what is it and why was it removed?

I think that's lipstick or a pen/marker. The red circle is actually attached to the black tubular item, and this is confirmed by the reflection below it.

Some more dates, the pushpins date back to 1900, so those are useless.
Bubble wrap however was invented in 1957, produced in 1960 and not likely to be available to consumers til much later. (that last bit is spec, but really I think it would take a few years for it to be found lying around someones floor right?)

ETA: Oh I see what you're referring to now, you mean ON the box type thing. I was confused because the inside of the circle does not look red to me at all, looks like a cut out.
