This is pretty strange... Posted on CL on the same date and time frame of the Estate Sale stuff.

Coelacanth/Fish Sculpture. It reads:

"Around 14-15 years ago we saw a sculpture of a fish that we liked but were unable to get. It was a coelacanth type fish, but rather than being realistic, the entire outside of it appeared to be covered in the fossilized bones of smaller fish. Was wondering if anybody had seen it or knew the artist who does this type of work. I'm not certain they were a local artist, since it was a fair, but thought I might as well reach out and see what I could find. I wish I'd had a camera with me that day, I'd have taken a picture!"

Is there a reason this isn't being talked about or did I just miss this in the thousands of back posts? I just saw it after checking the super 8 wiki and it says it is an update from today, or tomorrow from where I live.

Theory

People usually sell old antiques when an elderly relative dies that they didnt really have a knowledge of... If we look into the background on the bulletin board in the cactus cookie jar picture we see a funeral informal that says 2010, so someone has recently passed... and all of this 70s stuff could have been the property of the deceased. But what Im getting at is the nature of this ARG, what if it is like Cloverfield in the sense that the ARG will involve two time periods. Time period 1: 1976 (when the movie takes place) and Time Period 2: 2010 (our present day). We will interact with people who knew or are related to the characters of the movie. In this case who ever was being sent the pink pill box hat probably didnt understand what they had and how it was "proof" to anything, but after 40 or so years this person dies and their property goes to their only relative that starts selling the stuff off as crap... not knowing that a top secret Super 8 film could be hidden inside it. Maybe the next character to be introduced to the ARG is the person who buys the pink pill box hat and finds themselves in possession of something they never intended to find by buying a 70s pill box hat off of Craig's list. Even if this CL thing is OOG I think we should still keep a close eye.

I believe its his mom that has died as well. I dont believe its heartless. He may have kept what has meaning to him. And sold what he feels is junk,or has no room for,or what others may enjoy more then himself. Not that any of this is important lol.

I don't see it as heartless either. For all we know he needed the money and his mother was sick and told him to do it before she died. But agreed that it's not important.

But otherwise, congrats and welcome 333 awesome find.

Also, many have pointed out (in the past) that ARGs do not use Blogs (missingteddy) or random pics taken from the Internet (http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=706384#706384).

I'm tired of the trolling RasGold, so I'll set straight what I said about images:

We don't care about your blog.

A Paramount film is going to use iconic (and presumably copyright enforceable) imagery from a MGM film in it's promotion.

Yeah, right.

I said nothing about random images from the internet, I was speaking specifically about the IP (intellectual property) of another studio. You can stop being sore about that now.

333 welcome to uF. I'm glad you decided to join us, which helps me a bit with allaying the concerns some were expressing that your post was a pure shill. My point in my first post on the topic was to say that we weren't being blatantly thrown a bone by the studio - which some seemed to have suspected. (Which seemed to have happened before during the Cloverfield viral.)

Yea, he needed the money alright... to further the search of that damn fish... I dont know if its heartless, but unless he needs the money to give his moma a proper burial I say keep the stuff as memories... On his blog he says "family comes first", but of course not the dead ones...

I really think his moma may be a main character in the actual movie if this is IG

Hey, I'm sorry if you think I'm Trolling - I work two jobs and have not had much sleep these past weeks, on top of all the information pouring from this viral - a neighbor passed away ...

Not an excuse, I know ...

Gotta git back to work ...

Nice! This has got to be IG.

I think IG'ers are gonna find trying to post at ATS for a game is going to get them 'handed a new one'.
