the other side?

I'm looking at the postcard right now. The circles just look like a lens flare effect to me.

Here's another question - is the Encom Intranet still down for us? Maybe there is a clue there? I would check, but I don't have my badge with me.

More cards?

Can't believe I've not been on here since Perplex City! Got one of these cards in the morning but just got home from work now. Great work so far everyone! My guess is that there's more cards to go out yet, with 4 more patterns that might fill the gaps. Most likely it is a password, but to what I'm not quite sure of yet.

I see the circles, but I dont see any lettering. It looks mostly like 'bar code' but I would only assume that it's just part of the image. I mean it doesnt really show up any better under blacklight. Also i noticed they did the same thing with Kraz Bot, there are almost faint images of circles/swirls in the artwork.

Braille

I browsed through the thread, but didn't see this idea really hashed out, but is there any reason why there hasn't been a long discussion on using braille to figures this out?

Look at it this way. Each letter in braille is represented by a 3x2 "matrix." An it seems like the the dimensions here are 6 x ?? (didn't count). Could it be that this is just two lines of braille?

I started out doing it and the first matrix

ox
xo
oo = I

The next one can be either

ox xo
ox xo
oo or oo which can only be B (the ox,ox,oo one doesn't exist.

Then...

ox
xo
xo = S

It gets a tad complicated after that because then you get blocks right next to each other

xox
oxo
ooo = which could either be A, I or E, A

To follow up on the magnetic stripe theory. I think the card would have to be plastic, otherwise the data on it would probably get wiped. Magnets apparently wipe the data off some magnetic stripe cards.

So yeh I don't think swiping it through a magnetic stripe reader is gonna do much.

Overlay seems best

Just caught up on 27 pages of posts. I think overlaying the strips seems most likely, though at present we don't have enough 'data' to correctly infer letter shapes. I guess we'll know in a week if they do more postcards for the other Encom games.

Just so people don't waste time on this track, I figured I would add "89" to sum total of dots for each card and got 108, 110, 120, and 121. Tried all the 24 possibilities for web addresses with no luck.

Trying to catch up since page 18 yesterday... But I just thought of this and had to post, is it the baudot code again? Once they're all overlaid does it work?

My mom said that the stripes on the front of the postcards look like words and suggested that I look at them under a magnifying glass. Turns out they're just little dots.
