Just FYI - got my Astro Gunner Card, no postmark, but a 28 cent polar bear stamp. Aren't stamps like 42 cents now? The black(light) strip is probably like everyone elses. I am half tempted to drive down to the post office and mail it to myself, but i'm just bothered as to how I got this in the mail...

The 28 cent stamps are postcard stamps. You'll find this info on the USPS website. Here is the info on USPS price changes back in 2008.

First time poster...
I got the Vice Squad, Astro Gunner, and Arc Wars postcards all today in the mail. Date stamp was June 30 2010 and all three had the Polar Bear stamp. Same dots as on the first ones that were reported. I don't think the distribution is localized in any way seeing as I got 3 of the 4. Hopefully we'll crack this soon. If there's any ideas that anyone would like me to check out, as I have 3 of the cards, just let me know. Also confirmed, Encom Intranet down still for me too. Checking there and flynnlives.com were my first two thoughts. Checking here was immediately after.

EDIT: I also support the staggered mailing theory as I'm in Central California and just received them today.

Yea, I'm sorry but I really think that randomly overlaying all this stuff isn't going to do diddly.

How exactly is it determined whether or not we get more than one postcard anyways? Does it involve how "active" we've been in the moment, or just luck of the draw?

Hey all! We just had a visitor... Harry Knowles from the movie website Ain't It Cool News! They ran an article on the postcards and I posted a message in the feedback letting him know that we've been working on the code for the past three days. He responded that he'd came and checked things out.
Ain't it cool? Wink
Hiya Harry!

Just got my cards in the mail today in Omaha, NE. Between myself (they strangely sent me two), my girlfriend and my brother, I somehow managed a complete set. Shocked Can't believe that we each got a different one! I am NEVER that lucky on stuff like this.

OK, received my Astro Gunner in the mail today and decided to make a grid to go around it to see if this helps with any overlaying or grid-making efforts. The edges of the paper need to be trimmed a little better. If this is useful I'll post a template.

So, I checked my mail today - I should actually make more of a habit of it, and, if the box was closer to the housing unit, I would - and I found this cute Astro Gunner card in my mail. I instantly went here, and, as expected, it's already been posted a few times.

The answer I would also expect, but...apparently, I have time to help with that. ^_^;; I'd say it's a true magnetic stripe with the data points obvious, but then the question is indeed what encoding mechanism we're using. I'll make some inquiries with OSU faculty that might be interested (read: my assembly language teacher from last quarter, who has seen her share of punch cards/tape/magnetic strips) and see if they can think of anything.

For reference, what is the spacing for the grid? Looks like 1mm squares?

Also, as a general request to everyone, can we please reign in on some of the excessive posting? Replying/quoting a post and saying "cool!" does nothing but make it harder for people to catch up on events.

Also, stop asking about the barcode on the front of the postcard. It's the system the post office uses to track and sort letters. (It's quicker for them to OCR each letter once and encode the info in "invisible"/UV ink than it is to OCR each letter every time it hits a sorting station.)

Exactly right. The actual dots seem to be slightly larger. I measured the black area out at 139mmx10mm.
