No Flynn's Postcards here in the 510 yet.

I happened to pop in today to see if you Gurus of Game had anything new on the Flynn Lives front, and low and behold, there is new stuff!!

Nothing here though. Crying or Very sad I haven't gotten any postcards, and as far as I know, my friends who were at the "Press Conference" haven't either. I wonder if they are mailing out in Joining Order, or by region? I will keep an eye on my mailbox and let you know if anything shows.

*Sigh* That was my post. Thought I was logged in. I am full of fail today. Happy 4th of July everyone!

Tell ya what. Has anyone taken the time to get all the basics first? Have all the cards been sent out? Say they have. I'm in harrisburg PA. I got a kraz-bot card. I believe I saw someone out west got the same one. Well, i'm no einstein but, shouldnt we determine if they are the same, all different, etc? I mean if my kraz-bot card has the same dots(viewable under a blacklight by the way) as the person out west, then we could determine if it was regional or not. I think it is. Also you have to keep in mind, whatever method of reading this thing there is, has to be somewhat available to everyone. I can and am happy to drive an hour to philly. I actually saw the guy who got the phone. Gotta be faster next time. Listen, you lay some real, solid, facts out and we'll talk. Man, step outside of that box. It has to be something most of us can do, unless every card is different. Otherwise, you number crunching crypto guys, have at it. I just think there is an event coming. With all the flynns's arcade events coming and the new movie. I think there is a new game in there somewhere. I just think its going to be somesort of ticket. I'll let it go at that. Just what I think.

Due to the holiday weekend, and the worldwide nature of this ARG, it is entirely possible that there are additional postcards yet to be discovered. At first, the idea of overlaying these patterns to form a message seemed dead on. Unfortunately, due to either fuzzy scans, guesstimates on placement, etc etc, we have a couple (possibly) overlapping symbols and/or a "message" that seems pretty muddy despite having 4 data sources.

I am unfamiliar with the "team" nature of some of the earlier games, as most of my experience has been with ones where you are able to accomplish an objective on your own, without needing pieces of the puzzle from others. I'm trying to go back to the individual postcards and try to decipher them seperately. My knowledge of punch cards and magnetic tape is slight, at best, but I think that's the way to go. There seems to be 6 vertical "dot positions", but if you include the top and bottom "cushion" that some have suggested, you get 8. Of course, those are all zeroes across the way, but still.

Thats what I was trying to say, basically. You also have to keep in mind other factors. Thats all im saying. With more people getting into it, and the events getting bigger. There is a movie, game and, plenty of rumors about flynn arcade events. Just saying lets get all the facts first.

What are these Flynn Arcade events you keep talking about? There was one at last years SDCC. Nobody knows if there's gonna be one this year.
Are you talking about Flynn Lives events?

@mattw3: did you tried all four postcard patterns on their own or the composited thing mentioned in the last post.

I just want to remember that some "dots" are overlapping. I dont think that this patterns are forming any letters..

I tried the combined version (just in case I was wrong), but didn't get results that made any sense and since I received Astro Gunner, I tried that one with similar results. There of course may be a code variation that I haven't tried. Or possibly there is an additional step that needs to be performed with the results. It wouldn't surprise me in the least judging from what was necessary in previous tasks. Just what was involved in finding the combination to Sams locker makes me believe that it can't be as simple as overlaying dots.

VanGoghX,

I hate to be picky about the work you did, but I see some errors.

In square 4, last row there is only one box and it is the third one from the left.

In square 8, 1st column there are only two boxes not three in a row. The middle one is extra.

In square 11, last row there is an extra box filled in.

In square 12, last row extra box as well.

In square 15, Top row 1st should have a box and then the rest of the column should be blank. In the second column the last box should be filled in. Then in the top row, the box in column 4 needs to move to column 5. Also in row 4 the filled in box needs to be shifted 2 columns to the right.

In square 14, in the top row the last two boxes on the right need to be shifted 1 to the left.

In square 13, the last box in row 1 should be blank, or the first box in square 14 should be blank.

I have not studied the picture as closely as you have, and I may be wrong. But I thought since people were trying to guess letters, maybe looking into some adjustments would help.

I'm in Australia and I received a Kraz-Bot! card today. Very Happy The UV squares on mine match the picture in the wiki.

I'm impressed that this puzzle is still unsolved given the size of the hive mind working on it. I agree that additional postcards will probably be distributed at Comicon.

new theory!

Hey everyone! I'm new to these forums, but I've been a Flynn Lives member since February.
(And just so we're clear, my username was supposed to be Crystal but I put it in wrong Embarassed Fixed that for you. -SpaceBass )

So I've had this theory about the barcodes in mind for a few days now and I think I've got something.
What if it's some kind of map?
Bear with me for a minute.
Today I was looking at an image of all the codes overlayed (courtesy of http://tron.wikibruce.com/Encom_postcards ) and I also had a birds-eye view image of the San Diego Convention Center up. I looked at both and realized they looked kind of similar.
You can see for yourself if you've got Google Earth or something like that.
It's just my theory and if there's anything wrong with it, please tell me.

Ideas

I have the astro gunner card as well. It looks sorta like it was designed to be read travelling. How do I explain this? The card should be moving quickly. I can't do it by hand. Either that or it looks like it should be folded over or viewed in a different perspective (kinda like that Hadden thing for the "Machine" plans in the movie Contact). Meh. 2 cents spent.

Ack!!! We're idiots! Can somebody confirm this? Which squares are repeated on multiple cards?

If that's it, Crystal here has come up with the most brilliant first post ever!

Thinking way to hard...

FlyingFrog wrote:
Been Following this thread. I think the member who said about this discussion going from What do the cards mean to vintage movie equip. had it right. Too much, way too much... Listen, you have consider everything. Think about the rumors of the Flynn's Arcades opening. Several of them, which is the the only way I can see them justifying any of this. Think about it? Any of you ever pay a dime for any of this? I haven't, just signed up cause I think its cool as f@@@! Its read with a blacklight, thats it. No supra-spectra-oscillating-multi-level-needling-drumo-scopes. Just a black light. I feel really strong about this one. I have been anxiously awaiting the flynn's arcade in philly. I'm in harrisburg pa. Its just not practical for me to go to the real flynn's arcade. Think about it, Now playing at your local arcade. Yes it is a clue. Be patient and wait for the announcement. The barcode is your ticket, they use a blacklght thing to scan it or something when you go to an event. Maybe not Flynn's arcade. Could be something to do with with the upcoming movie. I missed out on the pit cell in philly. Im not missing this one. Yes, the random guy on the internet could be wrong. But think about it, just not so hard this time...

p.s. thanks for allowing guest posting, just cant join every single one

I don't want to be rude here, but I feel as though you're attempting to chastise me. I'm not really sure though because I could not figure out what your point was. And as for your later posts- I'm happy to see the enthusiasm, but seriously, you may want to read through the archive of this thread. Among other things, yes, we have determined that all the cards of the same type have the same code.

That said, what's this about Flynn's Arcades opening up around the country? This is the first I've heard of it. Can you provide a newslink or something, I'd love to check it out.

map overlay

I started playing with the map overlay theory. Ultimately though the convention grounds are not quite the same aspect ratio of the dot code. I tried locking the left most round of the code into the round portion of the building, and then on the left where the building has the 45 degree angle (like a sim card cut). I suppose it kind of fits. Please correct me if I misunderstood your idea.

Ok, I understand now, but...

why the French, English, Australians, Germans have received a postcard that has a "plan" for the Comic Con?

San Diego is so far from us!
