I've tried to use the id to get into the employee intranet but haven't got anywhere with the password. I've been using variations of ENCOMSGREED1979 as that's the year that's mentioned in the post for when Atari was hacked and ENCOMSGREED seems to be what a few people think is encoded on the back of the postcards.

I keep coming back to this link for some reason. Has anyone debunked this blog as bogus. There are a number of typos and grammatical errors in it but can never be too sure. Plus, that circuit diagram could be a part of it considering how close to now the event mentioned in the article is.

Another problem is that the guy mentions the TRON program reporting to Atari about ENCOM getting into their stuff. The only person who could access the TRON program was Alan... He's bending the reality to make it seem anyone could use TRON, and he's making it sound as though Flynn did to him what Dillinger did to Flynn. I seriously doubt that is something Flynn would do.

You're all WAY overthinking this.

This was my problem when I joined in with the ARG puzzles too. I was using my knowledge as a coder, as a software engineer... rather than thinking about it from a technically adept modern game presenter.

Remember; ARG targets people, game players not computer scientists.

The reason you're all having so much trouble is that you have half of a puzzle. You're reading WAY too deeply into aspects of it.

We will solve the puzzle, but we will solve it when the PTB decide that we should solve it.

Mark my words; it's going to be something simple like the current effort of just overlaying the dots together; it'll reveal a word/words that we expand out into a URL or use somehow from there.

Y'all need to relax a bit. Smile

Wow i really like that badge idea. Seems like we could be getting another clue or a red herring. Seems I'm a bit clue-struck myself, thinking anything's a possibility at this point. We have alot of theories but no real direction. Any ARG veterans care to weigh in on the likeliness of the theories out there? seems so far we have:

1)Map involving SDCC
2)Direct Lettering (by flipping the pattern around or getting more cards)
3)Indirect Code (binary, punch cards etc.)
4)Letter/Word Highlighting in the descriptions on the back.
5)Something having to do with the "encom interview"

I think we need to figure out who wants to start working on some of these theories so we can try to beat this thing.

Let alone that, by my understanding, TRON wasn't even concieved at that point and was still being coded when the events of the movie took place (long after Flynn had left). Remember when Alan goes into Dillinger's office at the beginning of the movie after his Group 7 access was suspended. He explains that he is working on his TRON program and Dillinger has no idea what he is talking about.

He was working on the Tron program, sure, but it was already fully operational - IIRC that's why the Group 7 access was suspended (because the MCP had detected Tron doing something it didn't like) and why Flynn ran into him inside the computer.

Nope- Group 7 was shut down because Clu was detected hacking in via a forged G7 access. The idea seems to be that Tron is pretty much ready to go, just needs some more polishing and needed to actually be...run? compiled? I dunno exactly. I don't really think that they really thought it out that far. My point is that Tron wasn't a part of the system, let alone that level of guardian before Flynn was even hired. This would have been back when the MCP was still a chess game.

I agree on this. We don't have everything we need at this point. Give it a couple days or so and I'll bet we crack it.

Definitely "something" going down at CAX... "Video Pinball 2.0" is definitely on the list of confirmed games at the show, but the details page is exactly the same as Video Pinball's...

Looks like another trip to the bay is in order... Rolling Eyes

Re: map overlay

I started playing with the map overlay theory. Ultimately though the convention grounds are not quite the same aspect ratio of the dot code. I tried locking the left most round of the code into the round portion of the building, and then on the left where the building has the 45 degree angle (like a sim card cut). I suppose it kind of fits. Please correct me if I misunderstood your idea.

Thank you memyselfandI, that's exactly what I had in mind. (And thank you Spacebass for fixing my username Wink )
It doesn't seem like we're quite there yet. I suppose we just have to be patient and wait for whatever clue comes next.

It's linked in the latest news.

I've added the link in the sidebar, and moved the latest news into a section on the front page that will be kept up-to-date as well.

As a last resort, you can always check the 'recent updates' page (linked in the sidebar) or use the search box.

Cellular Automaton

The dots look to me a little bit like Cellular Automaton/Conway's Game of Life -- Google Rule 110 -- which is how many columns each one seems to be.

I wonder if we put these in the right order, we could derive a 5th or 6th, etc., strip with dots according to how they would evolve.

Anyway, just a thought.
